  • On July 15th, 2021, bass-baritone Simon Estes sat down with OPERA America's President/CEO Marc A. Scorca for a conversation about opera and their life.
    Internationally renowned opera star Simon Estes made his operatic debut with the Deutsche Opera as Ramfis in Aida on April 19, 1965. Estes has performed at many major opera houses around the world, and with the top singers including Leontyne Price and Luciano Pavarotti. Some of his most memorable performances have been in The Flying Dutchman and Porgy and Bess. Estes has worked as a voice, humanities, and foreign language professor, and has established several foundations including the Simon Estes Iowa Educational Foundation, and the Simon Estes International Foundation for Children.

    I had the honor of meeting this wonderful, incredible, magnificent Artist!!!! And that wonderful comment that the Great Leontyne Price made to him during a rehearsal of Aida, brought tears to my eyes. I felt so moved and blessed listening to this interview.
