My father grew up frequenting his local Pig Stand in the '50s and I did so in Beaumont, Texas until it closed in the '00s. I really miss it and feel sad that this is the only one left. Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. If I'm ever in San Antonio I'll definitely make it a point to stop at the last one. Thank you for so many great memories!

At the Pig Stand in San Antonio in 1983 my cousin and I were 19 years old and heading from Ft Stockton to Indianola. We had stopped to eat and were leaving. When we opened the door to my truck to get back in, my female pitbull jumped out and started running around and wouldn’t come to me. There was a lowrider parked right next to us with the drivers window rolled down and she jumped right in that car. My cousin started calling her but she wouldn’t come to him, so he opened the door to the lowrider and crawled inside it to grab the dog. He got her and put her in the truck and yelled at me to take off before the lowriders came outside wanting trouble. I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breath and got dizzy, then he got tickled and started laughing! It was hilarious and is one of the hardest laughs I ever had. I finally pulled it together and we backed out and left! Good Times!!!
