I do too and I agree it has aged like fine wine. Not many people think twice about a Corolla, but I get a lot of second takes when I drive around my city. Who does love a cute small body car?!
@@menomisespeanut This was the generation that had the commercials, "Oh what a feeling, Toyota!" Where the guy was jumping into the air. My generation(Gen X) remembers these cars well. I'm not surprised you get alot of second glances.
I believe you're right. I will always have a soft spot for the late 80s early 99s Camry. My mother owned one, and it was navy blue with navy blue interior he's such a great car and such wonderful childhood memories
These are some of the best looking cars ever, it will no doubt become a classic in a few extra years. I would recommend not to modify it, just keep it as stock as possible and it will gain value with time if you take care of it.
@Hugothester thank you for the compliment. And I look forward to appreciation being shown to this car. It really is a nice, simple car, and I definitely intend to keep it stock. Although I need to replace the speakers and replace the timing belt in the stereo system whenever I play cassettes, sometimes it sounds muffled. But I'm not in a rush. I enjoy listening to my public radio station.
@@menomisespeanut You can probably do the speakers yourself, there are ton of tutorials on how to do it :) Here in Spain those cars were like 1.000€ a few years ago and now you cannot find one for less than 4.000€, the trend is going up so the investment you make in the timing belt you will likely recover with appreciation! Best regards :)
@@Hugothester yes I have been hearing people discuss that as well and since the price for the AE 86 Corolla have skyrocketed I guess the next model is on everyone’s list they’re somewhat still affordable but yes in the United States these cars typically sell anywhere from $3000-$5000

As expected im back here in ur YT channel for the update hehe...hope you takecare of it we both are owner of this same.corolla model! Greetings here from the 🇵🇭
@benpasador5216 thank you so much for stopping by. I've seen a lot of content from the Philippines, and you guys have a very large community of ae92 drivers. Seeing so much content come from the Philippines is what inspired me to make a video showing off my car because there's just not a lot of Toyota Corolla videos out there of this era, from the United States.
@menomisespeanut wow glad you have an idea how large AE92 community exist here in the 🇵🇭 we love corolla's bcoz it is timeless and the availability of the parts is still abundant so its easy to maintain and keep it running hehe in addition thanks for letting me know that we have inspired you in making a content about our corolla btw we call it here as toyota "small body"
@benpasador5216 Absolutely. Yes, I definitely envy the abundance you guys have in parts as well as aftermarket support in the United States. It's very scarce, so I've had to join a Facebook group for us. North American, AE 92 corollas.
Wow, you painted it! Did you paint it yourself, or did you have a shop do it? I would encourage you to go to your local junk yards to find a few more interior trim pieces to complete it. It looks beautiful!
@joshuawick5382 i paid for someone services. I don't have the space or the tools in the current place where I live to have done it myself. And yes, I am a part of a Facebook group where, occasionally, I will snag some parts that are the same interior color of my car. Thank you for the compliment.
@joshuawick5382 thank you very much. I agree, and the price was fair. I am grateful. It's difficult to tell in the previous video I made of this car because it was evening time but this car was incredibly faded. Although I must admit, I do miss the unassuming look of the car, because I never had to worry about people parking next to me. And whenever I drove, people would move out of the way for me. 😂😂😂😂
@@RdesignedSteve They are 100% better than the cars they make today. This Corolla will still be on the road long after a 2016 Toyota Camry will be. Speed isn't everything.

Love this body style and simplicity of this car, it’s aged perfectly. 👍

i love it! how did you repair the shifter piece that slides back and forth with the shifter?
I never made any repairs to the gear shifter. Sorry I can't provide any insight to that.
In 1998, Corolla went down in quality. Interior was cheaper and engines burned oil like crazy.
If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a Corolla in 1986 instead of the Camry.
is it the 1.8 motor with the overdrive tranny? The 1.6 with the 3 speed is horrible in the highway. I know, cause i had one.
1.6 AND 4 SPEED . 1.8 CAME IN THE NEXT GENERATION.
You must paint the bumper also same color of the car
NO! That isn't the way this generation came from the factory. Not in 1987 that is. The last year 1991, of this generation, had painted bumpers.
Play take the full option coming with the painting bumper
