    ABOUT ME:
I’m Liam Harrison, Bolton born and bred. I’m a lover of Golf, life and laughter.
Started Golf 12 years ago after packing in football when i was 28 due to a back injury.
I started the TH-cam channel as a laugh and a Wim, to make me practice but that went out the window as i started vlogging, loving being on camera but more so the interaction with my #golfmates.
In 14 months i have seen the channel evolve and become the only real golf community on TH-cam which i am extremly proud of.
I would like to thank all the #golfmates that have been with us and supported us and the channel from the start. Also not forgetting our new #golfmates that may have only just come across the channel.

The driving range is the first place you go when you're looking for it, the problem is that the magic dust usually stays in the driving range 😂😂

I totally agree Liam. My "found the secret" story is a few rounds ago I noticed I was miss hitting and hitting fat or shanks. and I wasn't sure what was going on then I thought of Grip pressure. I decided to pay attention to grip pressure and nothing else. So if 1 is weak pressure and 10 is strong I try to swing with a 3. It has made a lot of difference on my contact. I have to sort out a few other things and we are going into off season so maybe next season. However I talked to my wife and we agreed that I can join you in Florida in March! Going to send a deposit late October! I will be flying in from Montreal! My game might be crap but I look forward to meeting you and all the other #Golfmates!

Excellent Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you heard about - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (google it)? It is a smashing one off product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique minus the headache. Ive heard some great things about it and my good mate called Gray at last got excellent results with it.

I'm a golf pro and it's not in your head - I have 2 small simple moves with the left shoulder girdle and the right shoulder girdle and it sets the club perfectly every time so you can just hit the ball well every time - I didnt make it up - I may have tweaked it a bit but it came from a legendary golf teacher in the US who taught quite a few major champions.

Cool Video! I use to have that outside to inside looping swing when I was a teen and decided to quit football & baseball so to focus on golf. I took lessons and the first thing my Instructor addressed was getting rid of the loop and getting me an inside to outside swing path. Your way is so much simpler!

Needed a lesson to figure out what what new things I was doing wrong. Now I just try feel I flying the club down the fairway towards target which does 2 things. Keeps me relaxed and let's me release the club at the right time. It's not only changed my swing but it's changed my mindset into being more relaxed when playing.

Confidence is a great thing to have in your bag as it were. To be honest I find that a lesson with my local PGA pro actually gives me confidence; he's a great teacher. The alternative seems to be hitting the same wrong swing on the range further reinforcing the error.
    Cheers #50

Lessons have helped me a ton, cuz now I have something to work on when I do hit the range. It eliminates all the guesswork and trial and error. You can figure it out, but be prepared to take more time. I think it also helps to get lessons on putting, chipping and pitching. Your overall game gets help.

Confidence is massive. I was playing poorly with my driver in the run up to a comp but great with my wood. First tee at the comp (over 4 days) and I said i'm hitting one shot with my driver, if it's bad it's not coming back out of the bag. I absolutely creamed it down the fairway and it boosted my confidence. Played excellently with it for the whole weekend. No idea what I was doing differently the only thing that changed was my mind set. haha

Well done Liam! Finding swing faults on your own can be dangerous sometimes, as you can add other defects that correct the one you were trying to iron out. In your case though, that swing is looking really good.
I find that when ever you’ve found the magic dust, it’s always best to just take a couple of swing thoughts and maybe one set up thought away from the range. Golf’s hard enough! So keep it simple.
Cheers Liam! Love what you’re doing golfmate!

Great stuff Liam. What i do if im going through a ropey patch with my irons is just play irons, no driver or recovery/ fairway woods.
A couple of rounds always brings the confidence back. We are animals at the end of the day and we do get lazy mentally very easy.
Try a couple of rounds playing 4 or 5 iron off the tee. It works a treat and youll be surprised how little difference there is in your scoring.

  • @GreenDistantStar
    @GreenDistantStar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

What you've done is fixed what Dave (and I) have noticed; you've been changing the shaft angle on your takeaway to a sightly different plane. You still do it with your driver but you've fixed it with your irons. Another good clip, nice work Liam.

  • @stephengay8575

100% agree with you Liam confidence is everything. Nobody knows your game better than yourself .
I struggled for years hitting short iron shots to the point where I would talk myself out of hitting the shot resulting in a duff shot.
Now I don't worry about hitting any type shot because I have confidence in my shot choice now . It was like a weight being lifted of my shoulders and the enjoyment factor returned to my game

Good for you Liam...when I was playing before I had spinal fusion..I was doing what you were doing. I had lessons this and that. I realized I have to be comfortable. I was reaching out, when lining up. I decided to straighten my back and get closer to the ball. I lost a little distance at first but worked on it...you got it going and the main thing is I see you comfortable and above all smiling...even though you are smiling all the time. Keep that Josh smiling..l can't imagine the dreams he had, hopefully not wet!!

Liam, I know what you mean. I've been changing my swing over the past two years, going from a bomber slicer to a moderate accurate shot. I'll get most of my distance back as I tweak it. Now I can play the dog legs using a driver with confidence. I can draw or fade it around the corner. The main thing is to come into the ball as shallow as possible. That produces an upswing with the driver and a solid shot with the irons since the club's coming from in to out. No more digging! The smash factor is way up. This may sound a bit juvenile but just the other day, I played 18 on a new course carved out of the forest, with the same ball. That's a first for me! Magic dust!

I think you are right , Liam. Confidence is a huge part of the game. All the pros say, pick the club and commit to the shot. I shy away from fairway woods as I rarely hit a good shot. However, yesterday’s round I used my 3 wood and hit it successfully 6 times. Hopefully, this kind of luck continues.

Hey Liam, confidence/belief are very powerful tools, whatever you truly believe you're right, I'm not hitting my irons well for example. There is another couple, whatever we focus on we move towards, I don't want to feed the fish, how many times do we with that swing thought focus? And one of the best sayings I've heard, where there is doubt there is no doubt, I'll let you think about that one. Great video as usual, stand straight and swing easy GolfMate 👍

Happy for you man! I've found that something in my swing lately as well. Much like you, I was reaching a bit too much for the ball. Once I started checking my setup before swinging I started hitting solid shots(thin shots, and even some tops have been killing me this year). The solid shots boosted my confidence and I hit more solid shots. It's sticking around also. It worked on the course last week, and it worked again today on the range, where I haven't been in a few days. The first shot was good, and so were almost all of the rest, solid and on target right through the bag.

Liam, may I suggest to keep that swing, "you found out" but add this particularity: align to the ball, as you do. Then be as stable as you can, take the right foot back a half foot length, so that the right toe is at the hight of your inner ankle. This will "take the right hip out of the backswing" which permits to swing freely without tension and facilitates the "finish". This way you don't hurt your back. Keep all the swing thoughts you found out in this video and I fully agree with you! Cheers from Germany. (Oh don't run back to the cam, keep the elegant finish position and follow your ball until it hits the ground so your brain remembers the shot subconsciously ... we viewers don't need to follow the ball, just describe us the trajectory and we see the next shot when you align again, so we know where it landed). Keep up the good work, mate!

You are bang on mate. It is about finding that thing as we all swing different. I've found mine this year and I am now being called a banded. Yes there are thing we have to do and the pro can teach you that, but he can't teach that thing.
    Only you can fine it🙄

Everyone has their own Hercules heel to overcome in golf. Same as you, I play off 7 and struggle with consistent iron strikes. I had great lesson with local pro and he stopped me swaying about. You need someone else looking at you and have to be honest about your weakness, if you want to improve it. Well done Liam.

Good one Liam ... Easy to forget to do those little magic changes to your swing after a while ... my tip is to bullet point them on a slip of paper and have a read before each round. Nothing more annoying than getting to the 17th hole and realising you'd forgotten to do something to your swing until then😊

Now you got it ! I have found that if I address the ball with any thoughts in my head other than the ball going to the target IT GOES ANYWHERE ! Confidence/positive thinking/seeing the shot, the game is more MENTAL than you know..

I go to the range and try and work it out myself. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I find that if I can't sort it out, just leave the range and not worry about it too much.

Confidence is a great thing to have when you're playing golf. Whenever I have problems, I usually talk to my best friend ( we have been friends since we were 5 years old... that's 57 years! ). We know each other's swing inside out...and he actually helped me develop my swing to where I don't have to use my legs so much...as I have had 9 operations on my left knee! With my upper body strength....the two of us decided that hitting all my shots like one hits a ball out of a fairway bunker...using little to no leg action...would work for me. So...after several months of practicing it on the driving range and the course...and working diligently on my short game...my scores began to drop. I don't play much during the summer because of the heat...we are still having daily highs near 100° F...or 37° C...and my doctor's frown upon me getting over heated. My apartment complex has a putting green which I use in the early mornings to keep my putting stroke sharp.

Love to see it when you figure things out. Did the same with my irons about 2 weeks ago watching a couple videos and can't believe how much better I'm striking the ball. That confidence is key. Now I've just got to write it down as we don't play much through the winter here and you tend to forget what you did well when spring arrives.

Spot on - and there are plenty of tips/thoughts to move on to! I'm getting better at leaving "thoughts" behind at the practice range and focusing on where I want to send the ball while I'm swinging. Tips/fixes work then usually get overdone, but focusing on the target can't - at least no so far!

Hi Liam, I'm glad you found your iron swing again. Golf, like a nice glass of whiskey, is best enjoyed with a stress free and relaxed mind. As for the Dick's camera work, think of it like his technique adds a slightly different flavour to the episode.
    Cheers

good to see ya playing better there liam still got to watch those hands creeping upright when you start the swing try swinging a little flat on your practice rounds might help keep them down
