The order of the stages and the graphics make it appear closer to the original Japanese version. As mentioned by another user in this section previously, the player cannot control the barrels in this version. Another difference with this version from the original arcade versions is that the Mario icons representing lives appear above the level indicator rather than under the score on the left side of the screen.
I never understood this version. It seems to be the arcade and NES version mixed together. Or is it just the NES version, with a few additions?
thanx i checked the donkeykongforum page its really cool all the info and topics, i have played the mame version of DK i did get 6 kill screens but never a big score the highest i got was 905,000 maybe a little less but later i find out about the N64 version and start playing that one since there was no videos of that version on youtube i only wanted to get a million and i got 1.2. i havent played DK in 2 years, its hard to get free time now, but i had my eye on the ipodmame version of DK
@dimitriuss yes it has more random barrels but i did find a blind spot for the wild barrels, the barrel stage
has 6 floors, one hammer is on the 2nd floor and the other one in the 5th. in the 4th floor there
is a broken ladder if you stay behind it the wild barrels will not hit you but you cant be to
close to the ladders cos the barrels will hit ya.
2 thing i consider brutal of this game is that you can not control the barrels and the fireball go all the way to the top with pauline i post a vid
@Mario500NOW you're absolutely right on everything but the game play is a little different, in the elevator stage once you get to level 5 the elevator are moving way too fast which it makes it a lot harder to jump from the 2nd elevator to the ladder then in rivet board you cant do the 100 glitch next to donkey kong's feet, the fireballs can climb all the way up and come back down in the pie factory with donkey kong and it also goes the same with pauline in the barrell stage
but not been able to control the barrels in this game it makes it a lot harder this version because in the arcade version you can control them almost with no problem
but it is crucial to clear that stage
