Wow! "God is not our lover.. he's our king of kings and Lord of Lord..." This commands and demands respect

It's such a great lesson to learn and see what some people may think when they actually hear the term "reckless love". Like you rightly said, English is such a limited and limiting language. I first heard it in a song, it is a song that brought me to my knees, brought me to tears thinking about just how much God loves me and chases after me daily. It made me realize just how much wrong I've done to Him who loves me so utterly! I never even interpreted it in the way you explained it. It's a pity if anyone would actually interpret such a beautiful song in such manner but I do realize that wrong interpretations can still crop up even when one uses the best of words so, I'm not even surprised. What I understand from that song is that God's love is so utterly extreme and amazing that to ordinary men like us, it seems "reckless" or "overwhelming". Not because God is reckless, but because our minds cannot understand it.

And to be honest, the song was what made the term "reckless love" popular, not the other way around. I refuse to believe that something so inspired by the Spirit means something bad. But I do know that the enemy can come in and thwart the true meaning of things.

      Azar Ani , Bethel
As I was listening to this song, I really had to stop and think if it’s true that God’s love is reckless. I checked in the Bible and nowhere in the Bible it says that God’s love is reckless. (Please hear me out 😁)And then I spoke to my mentor about it and he explained me this :
      1. Reckless means : (of a person or their actions) without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action.
      2. Now when we talk about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ which is God’s love shown to the whole humanity :
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life‭. John 3:16 ESV”‬
      and
“For one will scarcely die for a righteous person-though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die- but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.‭ Romans 5:7-8 ESV” ‬
Jesus Christ did not throw himself without thinking of the consequences, no ! He knew exactly what it implied !
“And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done." And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground‭ Luke 22:41-44 ESV. ” ‬
Jesus was very conscious of the choice he made! "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done." Well this is not reckless to me at all! “His sweat became like great drops of blood” !!!!! No !! Our Lord knew exactly what he was doing and all the consequences ! He made a choice, a decision !
From a human perspective no one would do that, that’s very reckless! But He came from ETERNITY INTO TIME : What might seem reckless to us was part of a plan ! And when there’s a plan there’s a thought process behind it ! We can see that because since Eden there’s like many “winks” that Jesus Christ was coming : “prefigurations of Jesus” (since Genesis to Malachi through Moses, Abraham, Joshua etc... )
Therefore, there’s nothing reckless in a plan and absolutely not in a plan that was marvellously well planned !
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
      ‭Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV‬”
-This explanation I owe this to my mentor Mike !
And I thought about his explanation and you know what’s so beautiful about this plan? Our God knows everything : past, present and future and he still made that choice! To make such a choice with consciousness of all that will happen , implies no regrets ! It means that God already knew that we would sin today and he knows that we will sin tomorrow, and also the day after tomorrow etc... But he still made the choice to die on the cross ! He also knew that we have the choice to believe in him or not but he still died for all! And he even died for the sins we haven’t even committed yet! Because of this sacrifice we can ask forgiveness for our sins!
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.‭ 1 John 1:9 ESV” ‬
Now that’s far more beautiful than a “reckless love”!
      3. ‭I heard a lot of people say: “It’s not important, we all know what it means, it’s just a way of speaking !” ‬
But let’s remember that a way of speaking is not how the Bible teaches us to speak! We have a good exemple in the Bible !
“Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.‭ Acts 17:11 ESV” ‬
This is how the disciples of Berea were ! They always made sure that what was said to them was true to the Word of God ! And that’s how we should always be ! Songs, sermons etc... Whatever a human says about the Word of God must always be verified in the Bible! May we dwell in the Word of God far more than we seek for feelings or emotions !

It says in revelations "they have no fear of God in their eyes " . We as a generation have lost the fear of the Lord! That would drastically change this country. But it's been written . I just pray my dear od the Lord grows and is protected in this perverse generation .

We are in a time where toxic relationships are being labeled as "passionate" , "unconditional loving" and even "hopelessly romantic". Healthy love has boundaries, respect and reciprocity. All of God's blessing came with healthy conditions including consequences for disrespecting the boundaries of the mutual agreements/promises/ covenant. God first loved us and grants us mercy and grace. Our father sets a healthy example as to how we should love and be loved. He has given us a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.

Yes, Kytia! A lot of the times we neglect to look at what edifies God and can loosely describe the truth of who He is. We have become so into catchphrases, even in singing Christian songs, we don't realize that singing those words limit the truth of God's facets and character. I think these words you hone in on are exactly what we need to take the time to consider and think about. You did this topic justice. Thanks for shedding light on this!

Wow my thoughts exactly!!!! Ive been pondering about this for the past months and you hit the nail. I googled the word "reckless" as I knew it had a negative connotation from the beginning. This is kind of disturbing to me, in a way but I am not surprised cause we are in the end times and the great falling away.
The gospel will get mixed up for sure esp in this day and age - even more so now than ever before. But glad someone made a video out of this and lovingly explained it to everyone.
Because there rise of new age (everything) wont stop til people really sit down and take a minute to examine everything in accordance to God's word and his Holy Spirit.
Sadly, the deceiver has crept in slowly into mega churches OR small and most especially music - where it is most influential...
Still praying for discernment and loving rebuke for God's people. But I'm really grateful this has been addressed boldly through your channel. Really praying we become more discerning as we ask wisdom from the Holy Spirit.
It is A LOT easier to listen to the fluffy words about God's love and forget about Him being a God of justice and God being holy as well and so I pray that we hear the entirety of who really God is and not just what is TRENDY. He is a schemer and much smarter that what we may give him credit for.

You make a beautiful point! I can see things from both sides. God is holy, creator of the universe, King of Kings, Lord of lords, and He is our Father, yet He calls us friend. Jesus is also our older brother. In the old testament God references loving Israel like a husband loves his wife! I think every relationship we have are only shadows of what God wants to be to us. In no way should we be too familiar with God, or should we treat someone so holy as common..He is God! I just think it depends on the person's intentions behind their words. I think if the person is saying "reckless" as in "God you're so crazy" then that's out of pocket lol. But if they mean "reckless" as in "God you're so intensely loving, it feels crazy you could love me that much!" It means something totally different.

I LOVE that perspective of God where he created the Heavens and Earth and *prefers and wants* to have a personal relationship with us, but it’s our choice. He isn’t forcing us to worship Him. He cares enough about us to allow us to part from Him if we want. I can’t imagine how much it hurts Him to allow us to do that. That was just what I needed! It makes me love God even more. Thank you ❤️

Good job, babe. You know I have always encouraged our family to be careful of the catch phrases, buzz words, slang and Christian-ese. We don't ever want to offer up insulting or mocking words to God in praise. It is our job to know exactly what we are saying. Know our words origin and what they mean, especially with slang, colloquialisms, cultural dialect because God surely knows.

I completely agree with you about the misuse of the words “reckless”, “furious”, and “wrecked”. It’s important for us to know what we’re saying. Since God doesn’t use words lightly, we can’t either. So good 🤯 girl, I love this video! It’s so RECKLESS... just kidding.
You made some great points! Even about furious, because when I had previously heard it used I was like yeah that makes sense (even after looking up the definition), but you’re right, furious isn’t how the Bible talks about His love, but His wrath. And those are two completely different things.

One of my favourire songs is "Reckless Love" by Cody, but I also didn't think that word was chosen wisely, because the meaning doesn't describe God. But the music itself speaks about God pursing us until we give him a chance and God knew what He was doing when He sent Jesus, it wasn't a reckless choice.

  • @jaclynlong968
    @jaclynlong968 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I completely agree, however I will say that I still love to sing reckless love of God by Cory Asbury. Which is where I think most people get that from, and I think its just a means to attest to the fact that in theory the fact that God loves us so deeply and so very much in spite of how flawed we are, how often we make mistakes, how much we do that would be considered hurtful to others, he still loves us and that can be described as reckless, because it's like why would you keep putting your love out there when someone might keep hurting you, but God does it any way. Loves us with all his heart no matter what, rebukes when necessary, but never the less is still in love with us. But I do agree in knowing the meaning behind the words we use, and being intentional about how we approach the throne. I love your videos, I love your prayers, I'm always so encouraged.

Awesome video! & Agreed. I also think that the current popular songs that have those words in there are more poetic than literally definitions of those words. In the context of the full song lyrics, one can get the point that when they say "reckless" it doesn't mean the original definition as we know it but it's a descriptor that God will do anything and has done everything to get to us. So it can be poetically described as reckless but it was very much planned and intentional and not reckless like you mentioned. I could go on because this is a great discussion. I do agree that we alllll should be mindful of our words especially when it comes to God and His Kingdom. Great video!

    • @Pwendyalicia
      @Pwendyalicia 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I also wanted to add the movie that came out last year about Hillsong Worship team (so good). It shows how their team steward song writing and staying within the boundaries of the Word of God. At their core, God created them to be artist and poets and many things can be misinterpreted by someone else looking at their "art". So for a majority of the movie, we see one of the leaders laboring over the words of a song. The music was already prepared but his heart of worship had him laboring over the words. At the last minute he was done BUT their process is they have to submit it to a team of trusted biblical scholars who will tell them when they have gone beyond the written Word of God or if they are still doctrinally correct with their lyrics although it's poetic. If they say they are not within the guidelines of the word they make changes.
This blew me away. To have such accountability and it's probably one of the reasons they have given the universal church so many songs to worship God for so many years!

I don’t personally use these words to describe God but I’ve heard a song that says that his love is reckless. I think it means, in the connotation that they use it, is to describe him as a God that goes to any means necessary to prove his unconditional love towards us. Great video. Hi Kytia.
Great video- most of these words "reckless, mad, furious and wrecked" I not part of my vocabulary or the vocabulary of my people as I am from Africa. I have sung those songs and as much I agree with you as when applied to USA or UK where I live those words could be misleading.
The only things I would say are the following :
    1. Everything we do should be in-line with our conscience. it is possible for a person to see something as sinful and another see it as ok( talking about things God has not explicity Said anything about not actual sin written in the Bible) for example is it ok to wear makeup (??) as opposed to fornication is a sin. The believer who truly felt they were singing praises to God and were convicted by those songs hearing this may affect their conscience if they have a weak conscience (1 Corinthians 8:12). To a person like me- I honestly never really worry about those words but I "test the Spirit behind the singer". If the song elevates Jesus and recognises his deity then I will not condemn a word if the content is bringing healing to many. However, if they start calling Jesus accursed as 1 JOHN 4: 1-4 then I will not support it.
Romans 14: is another chapter which tells us about personal conviction and being careful not to affect others to stumble but respecting them Lovingly. An example for me would be 'respecting you and not playing those songs with you there'. Romans 14:17 sums up that God's Kingdom is about righteousness, peace and joy IN THE HOLY GHOST. If the Spirit brings conviction then he is speaking a truth about God.
Basically it is about Love- if you discerned something in your culture then you are likely onto something.
I on the other hand I am well above those words and do not equate the word 'Reckless' love of God with "God being reckless at all". Semantically speaking I see it as God loving us beyond normal reasoning because even the sinner still choosing to live in sin, I believe God still loves them. IF they repent on their death bed they are forgiven. Scripture tells us Angels rejoice over just 1 sinner repenting. It must mean there is something about God's love for man. David said in Psalm 139 :5-8 especially verse 8 where he says "if I go up to heaven or deep in hell I cannot escape from your presence" David was a man after Gods own heart which is what God called him and yet he still committed sin. I am not condoning sin but I don't think WE can truly fathom Gods love. Even Angels ask God who is man that you are mindful of him?
We have issues in the body of Christ were scripture is being used to manipulate people. My point is I am not impressed by mere words but I really "discern the Spirit of God" to make my judgement. Someone can use a word like 'reckless' but have a heart for God truly elevating Jesus. Another can study scripture so well, be gifted in motivational oration but really do not have godly motives or seek to bring glory to Jesus.
As for the other words I did not hear them used (furious and mad). I have heard wrecked and whether trendy or not I do not talk this way at all. I see it as American lingo.
Finally I believe your video is important to shed light on these things that could become trivial such as ("the fear of God- honour and reverence). You are also imparting knowledge so words are not just carelessly thrown around about God that it limits his Deity and Holiness.
I like your channel a lot.
    Continue what you are doing.

I've seen so many people who call themselves Christians but don't know about the importance of reverence and respect for our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus. I am the praise and worship leader at my church heard the song "Wreck-less Love of God" and was going to introduce this to the praise team but the word "wreck-less" just did not sit right with me so I analyzed who God is and what the word wreck-less means I said my God is no way these things! One of the first things I learned about God is, He is truthful.
God is honest with us. He wants us to understand who He is and one thing He wants us to know is, we can be decieved, "Satin".
Another thing I learned is, God warns us about trusting Man. I began, as a new believer in Christ and began to notice, that this world has twisted many words and meanings of things God teaches us in His Word.
Think of Michal Jackson and how he twist the meaning of, "BAD", to mean, good. Could you picture a believer seeing God as Bad, just to justify it as, "no, I really mean Good". Why not just say what you mean.
God is Awsome... Not Bad, and definitly, not reckless!

I feel very vulnerable trying to be catholic, of faith, good or a Christian because I didn't know how to deal with attacks, disrespect, bullying, harming and the way I deal with it is being negative and organized to not be distracted, but then when I meet someone I hurt too much when they harm me, leave or ignore me. To not expect anything is hard but it makes me very sad.

Ok now that’s God talking through you to me. When you were praying at the end you were asking God to help us that have come from abusive homes to understand a Fathers love is not hurtful nor is a Mother’s love conditional, situational, or by “doing”... I have cptsd & Bpd from a very abusive upbringing & struggle to allow my Father in Heaven to love me. I get so close then back away. I have been witness to His devotion & undying love for me but still I do not understand it. I see a Christian trauma therapist once a week & have learned so much in 3 yrs yet my mind still feels it needs to know the answer “why?” I was so very angry at God for my b Cancer dx at 36, moving our family 1,000mi away, I couldn’t see what He was doing in my life. When our ds became the age I wAs God helped me stand up & say “You will not hurt my son.” God took them out of my life for a reason. Work in progress

I'm sorry to hear that you grew up in that environment. It really is something that takes time and purposeful healing to get through it. I am glad that you know the Lord and that you're getting therapy. Keep asking Him to show you how He's there for you in small ways and big. Completely surrender your life to Him and choose to accept the love He has. It's there for you, but I understand the fear that comes with not knowing if your Father in heaven will one day just decide to punish you like your earthly parents did. Some people have a hard time understanding that He will always be there and wants only GOOD things. Decide to trust no matter what. I had to learn that for myself too.

    Hey Kytia,
God bless you for this, I really understand what you are saying but I was just wondering how we are supposed to see or accept God because I am comfortable with accepting him as a friend, brother and saviour. I fear the Lord no doubt but you lay emphasis on the word 'Fear God' like we can't see him anyways other than literally fearing him. I personally only got comfortable talking to God until I believed he was also a friend to me and no matter what I did I should not be afraid to come back to him and never take him for granted.

Tobi Kola-Sodipo Hi there! I mentioned fearing the Lord as in having a healthy respect for Him as our Creator, Lord, Father, King, etc.. In the trendy examples I used, there is a lack of Godly fear and reverence by being careless with our words. He is definitely a good and loving Father and we should see Him that way as well. I hope that clears things up for you. 💗

I understand what you're saying in terms of definitions of words but if you listen to the context of the song Reckless Love, I think people understand that doesn't mean God loves us so much that he doesn't care what he does. I think it's saying the opposite. God loves us and cares for us so much he goes to great depths to get to us. I guess everyone just has different interpretations. Just like the bible some people have so many different interpretations of the scripture. I say just be led by the spirit and let God guide you on words you should and should not say. In other words we can't place our own personal convictions on others. Thanks for sharing!

Hey quick question! I am a christian i grew up in a christian household and early on I developed a personal relationship with God . Now I have quite a few friends who are not believers in Christ but do believe in a "higher power". When we get into our debates and disputes about me choosing to be a christian they always throw out there that man wrote the bible and how do I know these are God's stories and it makes no sense , then I just freeze and don't know how to respond but I KNOW God is real and I KNOW Jesus Christ is real so what can I say about the bible ? I believe in the stories and I believe it can be used as a guide and so many other things but I don't know the history of who wrote it or how it came about (I know being a christian that's a shock but nobody ever told me) So I don't know what to say to people who come at me about the bible . . . Any advice ?

Not to be disrespectful in any way but it seems like we're thinking too hard here. And that's not to say we shouldn't be careful and watchful and be able to discern. I've heard of God's love being described as reckless (heedless of danger or the consequences of one's actions; rash or impetuous). For me personally it only shows how beautiful God's love is that he would peruse me no matter what it cost. That he would even sacrifice his ONLY Son for me. Jesus knew his purpose on earth was to die for the world but that didn't mean he wasn't shaken by the burden he had to carry, he prayed to the Father "Not my will". So he knew the danger he had to face but that didn't stop him. To search the country side for one single sheep that you've lost while leaving the 99 others behind sounds pretty reckless to me but it only makes me bow in reverence because no other God loves like this. And that's not to say he is a reckless God, I'm talking about his beautiful LOVE. This is my opinion here. But the Father will always have the final say. God Bless : )

I apologize but this is how I have experienced Him, and if that offends you or anyone else for that matter then I don't really care to be honest. I don't see his love as this reserved thing but as a consuming fire, this burning passionate thing. We all come from different walks of life, and how God broke through our past worlds of darkness is a different story for everyone. So we all have this different perspective of who He is to us. There are attributes of Him that we can all agree on and some in this case where we can't, and there's nothing wrong with that. To be heedless of danger or the consequences of ones actions (Jesus willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice) Rash/impetuous (He doesn't have to think about loving me because God is Love) I honestly don't see how Reckless is such a horrible word. God knows our hearts and that is what is most important. May the Holy Spirit always speak above our own understanding, so with that said I'm always listening for his voice until then this is what I believe. Nothing but love : )
