hey! i was thinking about getting a zephyrus g16 4080 when a good sale happens this year but seeing the new stuff at ces i was wondering if getting a zephyrus g16 5070 or 5070ti would be a better idea. one of the main things that drew me towards the 4080 was the vapor chamber and 12gb vram, it seems that the 5070ti has 12gb vram but im unsure about the vapor chamber. it also seems that the 5070ti model will have more memory than the 4080. what’s your opinion on this?
@@oakori 5070 Ti will have the same amount of memory as the 4080 at 12GB! I think performance will be about the same between the two as well. The biggest thing will be if the CPU is significantly better or not. I’m also unsure about the vapor chamber on that one if it’ll have it or not. I think it will actually since every laptop using a 5070 Ti or above from Asus uses a different motherboard design, so I’d imagine it would need the extra cooling. I think both are good options if you’re okay with waiting until like March when they’re likely to release those new ones.

Yes I do like that it has a numpad, I crunch numbers and it is so nice to have.
To see Lenovo finally leave out the numpad for this year's legion lineup, pair that thing up with a 4080 and a Ryzen 9 (insert whatever their AI naming scheme chip here). Super solid. And please for the love of GOD, have more 64gb RAM models for gaming laptops (because stone cold said so).
That would be really cool. I just got back from the Lenovo booth. Still numpads across the board unfortunately, but the OLED displays and Ryzen 9 options look amazing! So glad to see from them
I would absolutely love a high-end Zephyrus S16 or M16
14:34 didnt they confirmed the 5070 ti laptop GPUs? cause on the nvidia's site it said " GeForce RTX 5070 family laptop GPUs include two different GPUs, The GeForce RTX 5070 ti Laptop GPU boasts 5,888 CUDA cores, 992AI TOPS and 12GB of GDDR7 memory" and this is what i'm most hopeful for (mind you i've been hopeful for the past 2 and a half years while overworking my 1650ti lmaoooo)
@@monrvelous yeah that’s looking it’ll be the sweet spot this year!
man, do you think they'll refresh ProArt P16, and would they, atleast in this model offer 5080/90 with the AMD version?
like were there any ProArt sightings in CES?
because its the best creator laptop out there with the best of everything and still they choose to prioritize the zephyrus and the blue team.
@@srivatsansamraj yeah they had the P16 on display but it was the same model as last year!
Legion 7i Pro with an OLEDvscreen, but in the previous sleek and professional chassis. Not this horrid gamer RGB light show with all the rear ports moved to the side to clutter up your desk space. I honestly hope they re-release an option mid with the previous chassis as I have not seen one positive comment yet on TH-cam regarding the redesign. Everyone hates it.
Yeah I have no idea what they were thinking with that one... lol
hey! i was thinking about getting a zephyrus g16 4080 when a good sale happens this year but seeing the new stuff at ces i was wondering if getting a zephyrus g16 5070 or 5070ti would be a better idea. one of the main things that drew me towards the 4080 was the vapor chamber and 12gb vram, it seems that the 5070ti has 12gb vram but im unsure about the vapor chamber. it also seems that the 5070ti model will have more memory than the 4080. what’s your opinion on this?
@@oakori 5070 Ti will have the same amount of memory as the 4080 at 12GB! I think performance will be about the same between the two as well. The biggest thing will be if the CPU is significantly better or not. I’m also unsure about the vapor chamber on that one if it’ll have it or not. I think it will actually since every laptop using a 5070 Ti or above from Asus uses a different motherboard design, so I’d imagine it would need the extra cooling. I think both are good options if you’re okay with waiting until like March when they’re likely to release those new ones.
Bought a G16 RTX 4080 variant for like $3255 in India, which is like after $600 discount 😢 It's just so goddamn expensive out here.
@@ambarish92 yeah that’s insane, I feel for yall
15.6-16.2"
AMD ryzen next Gen
Physical mouse buttons
90whr battery
Upgradable RAM
2 X NVME slots
Mini-led or OLED, touch, 120hz+
RTX 4080 or better
MacBook level speakers
MacBook level build
Linux :)
A beautiful, minimal design
I have a Lenovo LOQ 15iax9. The CPU clock speed stuck at 3.2Ghz even with heavy load. I've seen many benchmarks on youtube and they all can reach 4.2Ghz. Does anyone have this problem?
Thoughts about using the Flow x16 2023 with the 2025 Xg mobile portable 5090 GPU?
@@Anthraxx93 I think that’s a cool idea! My only concern with the 2025 XG Mobile is the bandwidth, but they’re claiming it’ll run well, and even fairly close to how it will with TB5. So yeah you could potentially have an insane little GPU upgrade there
-14" touchscreen OLED 120Hz 1000nits
-2 in 1 or clamshell with 180deg hinge.
-80whr battery
-32GB upgradeable/soldered ram
- full length 2280 SSD
-Powerful AMD chip
-Nvidia 5060
-dGPU turns off completely for excellent battery life
-Haptic touchpad
That would be beautiful
i just bought a g16 w 4060 intil 9 185h and 32 gigs. is it time for me to return it and wait or just cry
@Voitur still a pretty good laptop! If we don’t see big improvements from CPU and GPU this year, then yeah you still have a great machine
Zephyrus G14/16
AI 9 HX370 - 5080 (100w) - OLED - 120hz - 3K - G14
U9 285H - 5090 (130w) - OLED - 240hz - 2.5K - G16
500nits
Bit larger and the offerings are now better for the AMD variant.
More $ for Jensen, of course.
Leave numpads alone ! :( I need them :(
I hope I can get something good like a 80 or 70ti for 2400£ cus it’s all scalper price in the UK (2100£ for a zephyrus with 4070, that’s like 2.5k+ usd)
Waiting for a relatively thin 16" laptop with 5070ti AND thunderbolt 5
@@danmazaev yeah XMG told me that in order to have TB5 it requires extra space on the motherboard, which most of the portable 16” gaming laptops don’t usually have because of all the space needed for cooling and all that, but who knows maybe someone can accomplish it!
@JoshCravesTech Wow, thanks for clarification!)
Josh did you see the new razer options for 2025?
I just walked through the Razer booth a few hours ago and got to mess with the new Blade 16! It’s super cool. AMD CPU, OLED, thinner and lighter than last year, upgraded speakers, and upgraded keyboard travel distance
A white laptop with 18 inch oled display, strong and efficient cpu (98003d or intel ultra 285k) + 5090 and good speakers like from apple notebooks.
I think you're describing razer blade 18, without the OLED and beefy HX cpu from intel.
yes even I would buy the instant if somebody releases a laptop like you said. also it shouldn't be ugly and big like msi's.
@@The_HandsOn_Guy I have a meeting with Razer tomorrow! I believe they are doing AMD CPU’s with the Blade 16 for 2025. Gonna see if they’re doing it with the Blade 18 too
Remember, you're making a video about GAMING laptops. Thinner laptops means worse cooling and therefore worse performance. Portability comes at the expense of performance and gaming laptops are already thin enough. They need to stop trying to make lighter laptops and focus their resources on everything else.
Also, what the hell is wrong with having a numberpad?
It all depends on what you need a laptop for. Some people like myself want a laptop that can play games well but is also portable, and doesn't have to be connected to power 24/7. I think it's good they're making different types of gaming laptops for different people
Max Pro 395 plus 5070ti high end, and 370 plus 5060 lower end
Looks like there will be a 5070 TI Zephyrus according to Best Buy:
New! ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G14 14" OLED 3K 120Hz Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX - 32GB RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti - 1TB SSD - Platinum White
5080 as well!
@@JoshCravesTech Then $3,999.99 for the ultimate 5090… Wonder if last year’s models will have better price-performance on sale. I’m sure you’ll help us figure out the best value. Appreciate your work.
5090 32GB 2500 dollar thats my dream. However Im realistic so I went for 4070 32GB from 2024.
I just want them to stuff a 5080/5090 into the Legion 7i Glacier White chassis
@@pagman2356 I wish they were but they’re not, once again. Not even a 5070 Ti 😭
I purchased the 2023 ASUS Flow X16 with an AWESOME Mini-LED 1100 nits 240Mz. Mini LED was supposed to be the future and Asus would upgrade the stats every year (f.e. amount of dimming zones).
Why is the industry using inferior OLEDs starting 2024 - where is the much-deserved LED revolution?
I would like a ryzen ai max +395 laptop under 1.2k USD with 165/144/120hz oled 16 inch screen and 32GB ram. I know its wishful thinking. But that would kill every competitor alive.
Zephyrus G16 with 5080
for the premium sector, especially the most efficient and powerful one...
i think the AMD's ryzen AI Max+ Pro Ultra Super High whatever bs name, is going take the cake. i mean, in the same efficiency and power class as HX 370, but 45-120W and a chunk of it just goes to GPU, i mean, damn. theyre going to be HOT and powerful.
also like, lets take zephyrus g16 for 2025. if they refresh it with this AMD, i think they have to throttle/underclock the CPU as much as the GPU.
and the 9955HX3D, its directly competing with intel's HX guys... and i think even tho intel has better name, AMD is going to take the cake.
hope nvidia doesnt pull off same bs it did before by restricting access to higher end GPUs for amd. lets see how manufacturers tune power limit, figure out the cooling, and now new 50 series chads with even more power hungry chips are on the way...
and also my dream premium laptop is, kind of a kid between zephyrus m16 and g16. use the hinge and design from m16, make it metal and thinner like g16, like the edges sharper, sleeker design but that hinge raising laptop was a signature asus thing, and it looked super cool. and yes shove in that ryzen thing with 125w nvidia 5080 or 5090 (we can make it run at 150w or more thanks to you)
hmmmm, i think my decision of saving up was right... or maybe wrong, but yes. as usual very informative, josh! keep it up!!
Yeah I like the idea of a G16/M16 hybrid! Got to hold the new G16 and G14 today. Lots to like there, but Nvidia has been super quiet about the new GPUs so no idea how it's gonna perform yet.
@@JoshCravesTech oh they announced the new G16???? does it have AMD from the start or like there will be a mid cycle refresh? and if they announced it now, i think they're using HX 370 ig? awww i expected it with this AI Max thing
and also will there be a proper M16 redesign/refresh? like did u see/hear anything there or or did they ditch it altogether with only having G16 in the zephyrus lineup?
edited: just saw the CES launch video. no g16 with AMD version. but i hope they refresh ProArt P16 with 5080/5090. the P16 is literally perfect for me. reasonable refresh with such pixel density hmmm...
(im excited because im a nerd and im moving to US in 2025, and i have some cash to burn for a new laptop... )
The best in 2024 is asus tuf a14
18" zephyrus
Lenovo watched this video and decided to do the complete opposite with the design...
@hyphed4196 yeah I’ve been saying it for years and they keep going backwards on design, I was sad to see that 😭

I think gaming laptops are quickly becoming obsolete with gaming handhelds that can game in wayyyy more situations. Nowadays the only reason to get a gaming laptop is if you also need it for work, or specifically need a laptop form factor for whatever reason
Keep the ips we don't like a burned in OLED
