I really Enjoyed my experience with halo wars definitive edition for the first time! It's such a beloved series by so many people and I cant wait to get intro the RTS gameplay
I thought it would be fun to show off my reaction to all the cutscenes of the game!

An interesting tidbit: The Spirit of Fire was the first human encounter with the Flood, since it occurred long before the battle of Installation 04. But because they were stranded and isolated in space, they had no way of informing other humans of the Flood's existence.
Ohhh that is so creepy haha!
I think the first ones to encounter the Brutes too.
The difference is that they beat both the flood and covenant and survived, that is one of the most OP crew in Halo universe.
@@TEX474 I wonder how much of that survival had to do with the fact that they at a squad of Spartan 2s with them, as long as the Spartans stayed alive they could pretty much manage any small scale encounter.
@@TEX474 Contact harvest is the first interaction with brutes which is a few years before the spirit of fire shows up to try and take harvest back.
The BONK when they dropped the arbiter's corpse off the edge was so funny and totally unexpected 🤣

Fun fact, in the actual cryo scene, she would have had to have been naked.
Halo book facts say that when you have anything adhering to your body while cryogenically frozen, your body breaks out into blisters in the areas covered.
It's noted that Spartans must feel incredible pain from being frozen in their power armor, but they don't react to it.

@@98Emile his is an allergic reaction. Read halo: the flood. It goes into the events of combat evolved and specifically when master chief was woken
@Vegvisir92 again allergies. Lastly is allergic to the mucus used in cryo. Also they simply didn’t touch up on that detail in the movie about covering skin
The Arbiter in this game was so easily baited by Forge, shows just how puffed up that elite was. Pride comes before the fall, in his case both figuratively and literally :P

Rippa was known for that.. he tried to overthrow his clan leader and take over.. for that betrayal he was branded with the mark of shame and made an Arbiter..

As someone who has fanboyed over Halo Wars 1 and 2, I can adamantly state that at no point of 1 or 2 has Professor Anders taken care of herself.
It’s sad when you realize that thank you message was a send off to their fans. They were shut down by Microsoft during development, but continued to make the game as one last hurrah. They even stayed true to the classic art style while adding in some original stuff. They did in one game what it took 343 10 years to do.

@@CRAM079I heard bungie were very negative and wanted nothing to do with the development for they did not like how halo was being made by another team when they wanted no one else on their franchise. THE ACT MAN MADE A great video on it kinda sad

@@CRAM079 You do realize they were not contractually obligated to follow the art style, the lore, or anything else, right? They willingly went to Bungie for help so that they could get the game right. Which they did, and spectacularly. That does deserve credit and it does get credit. Even if they did have help, it isn't like Bungie gave them a bunch of pre-rendered models, a flushed out story, or anything else. THEY had to make it and THEY took it to Bungie, to which Bungie looked at and told them what worked and what didn't. And even then, the development team could have ignored Bungie. Everything in the game was made by them, as it is a product of their work. To try to downplay that because Bungie was involved in a small way is extremely arrogant and just really fucking dumb to do.
Okay, but shoutout to the editors, because some of these edits were so seamless that I could've sworn Jade was reacting in real-time.

@@GamerJoobChannel Yes. Master Chief was part of Red Team on Reach tasked to capture one of the highest ranking Covenant leaders to attempt for a cease fire.
Red Team consisted of 22 members during its formation. Sadly, the mission failed and some of the survivors (including John) joined/formed Spartan Team Blue.
The 3 Spartans of Halo Wars are the last 3 members of Red Team.
@@Dennis19901 bit inaccurate here. There are no real set rosters for spartan teams outside of BLACK and GREY. John usually led BLUE while either Kurt or Fred would lead RED. out of the members of RED from the fall of Reach; Kelly, and Fred are the only remaining survivors. Operation Red Flag would have broken down into smaller spartan fireteams as needed once it was launched as well.

Idk about anyone else, but the moment when they show the spartans are fighting and how epic the music gets just sends goosebumps every time I see it. God, it's amazing.

Theres an extra bit of dialog after the end credits when you complete the game on Legendary. Serina say "Captain, wake up. Something has happened."
I definitely will check out the legendary ending before jumping into Halo Wars 2!

I stumbled upon this series recently after a long night shift at work, i have been trying to get in time on Halo infinite and have looked forward to the campaign for a long while. I was thinking for a long time about replaying the games so I can get the full Halo experience, but with the crazy holiday schedule going on its been impossible, so finding this series, and getting to watch a genuinely new person play these games I grew up with so long ago has been an absolute joy. Thank you for giving me good content to watch in the wee hours of the night after my shift :D

I look forward to seeing your videos when Halo Infinite's campaign releases, I doubt I'll have any time to really sit through that game for awhile as well, so these shorter cut scene only videos cut out from your main game play have been the perfect substitute, with the added bonus of a first time experience which is always a joy to see. One of these days I'll try to check out the longer full game play videos
ive always loved the subtleness of halo wars cutscenes one that really stands out, when the arbiter speaks out about "I will take what we have" and draws his swords you notice the honor guards ready themselves, or twitch, this arbiter was seen as one of the more aggressive out of the lot, and to them drawing a weapon infront of a prophet was taboo.
It's taboo on several fronts, since Sangheili culture dictates that a blade is not to be drawn unless you intend to use it, and Ripa clearly drew his blades without any intention of using them. The honor guards reaction being so subdued is interesting in that regard, since an Elite drawing his blades in front of a Prophet normally means he intends to use them on the only viable target in the room.
As a former main HW1 Player, I absolutely loved this game, especially growing up, it was a really nice twist and put in a different perspective like Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST. Making a very ambitious spin-off like the other two titles, the graphics looks amazing for its time and fit in quite well with the story lines, I still occasionally go back to this game from time to time for little RTS tournaments at parties and stuff. Plus the additional vehicles and stuff that was added in the game, made it so much better to experiment with into the later halo games, for instance, some of the vehicles were featured into the newer games and this was primarily thanks to Halo Wars with the introduction of those units.

I had never played an RTS game but I genuinely thought it was so well done! The visuals in the cutscenes and gameplay felt unique but true to Halo!

I always have that “Captain wake up! Something happened...” in my mind when I finished that game back those days.
Almost 10 years after we get Halo wars 2 but man, that was a hell of a wait
More canonical context for you. The events of Halo Wars begin when a small fleet of Jackal raiders find the planet Harvest and its "relics" following instructions from a Forerunner luminary (device used to trace forerunner technology through the galaxy). Harvest's UNSC defenses mistake the Jackal ships for an insurrectionist attack and open fire. A Covenant ship survives that first contact and sets out to report its find to the Prophet of Regret. Regret sends an advance ship led by the brutes Makabeus and his nephew Tartarus to investigate the matter of the relic. At first Makabeus did not want any kind of contact with humans but after receiving a signal from the UNSC with apparently an offer of peace, Makabeus sends Tartarus and some brutes to try to make a truce and they are ambushed by the humans. Tartarus manages to escape to safety, the prophets Truth and Regret prepared their declaration of war against the inhabitants of Harvest, because according to them, the humans had forged a forerunner sign that was read with a symbol that the prophets believed to mean "Claim" in its lights, but in reality its meaning is "Reclaimers" (referring to humans) (later the prophets would understand the misunderstanding with the symbol but would hide it to avoid being liars). Regret ordered Makabeus to retreat but he ignored the order, thus eventually causing his ship to be found and shot down by the UNSC. Meanwhile, Tartarus discovered that a group of grunts surviving the first contact had been taken prisoner by the humans and forced to collaborate with them, thus causing the ambush they had made on Tartarus in addition to many deaths among his brute colleagues. As Makabeus did not accept the advice to leave Harvest, Tartarus decided to take control of the situation, dismissing Makabeus and preparing his downed ship to leave the planet, he even had a meeting with Sgt Avery Johnson but when he was about to kill him, the last of The surviving grunts from first contact discovered that Tartarus had killed his fellow grunts, so the grunt opened fire on Tartarus and pushed him back, saving Avery Johnson's life.
After all this, Tartarus managed to escape in time from the UNSC armada that was heading towards his ship. Tartarus informed the prophets everything that happened and this started the prophets sending a fleet led by the arbitter Rippa Moramee to Harvest and start the five-year war for Harvest.
ngl i forget how good these cinematic are, SGT Forge is easily the 2nd best marine to have lived

Halo Wars has the distinction of being the first Halo game I ever played (3 and Reach if we’re talking Bungie-made Halo’s) and to this day the music has stuck with me. Ensemble Studios nailed it on the head so many times with this game that it’s stuck in my skull, and Halo Wars 2 really doesn’t have the same feeling. Both great games, to be sure, but the first will always be superior to me.
I really liked Halo Wars! but I personally enjoyed the story more in 2! but I dont know about the music I will have to listen to them both again!

Ngl, when I first played Halo Wars back on the Xbox 360, for about half of the game, I was waiting for the game to go back into a regular Halo Game that’s in first person. I still hope they end up making a Halo Wars 3.

22:14, I think this cutscene was actually a lower framerate originally so when the Spartans are fighting, he actually INSTANTLY contorts himself upwards at the elite before firing his SMG in the span of a single frame and it's supposed to look more impressive than it does now.

I don't think they ever went and re did the cutscene. Since it's pre rendered it would take re rendering the cutscene on a powerful workstation for hours or days, if they didn't lose the original assets from 10 years ago.
Everything should be a consistent 24fps - 30fps in cutscenes
This game and Halo Wars 2 have my favorite Spartan II design by a mile.

You mentioned the Grunts look very tiny when the Arbiter was on screen. This Arbiter was known to be especially large for an elite, standing slightly over 8 ft tall and in armor about 8 and a half feet tall. He was one big mama mama

Fun fact: SRGT Johnson was one of the few first test subjects for the original Spartan program. You might consider him a “Spartan I” part of the ORION program, it is heavily implied SRGT Forge was fathered by one of these test subjects, and was born with some special “gifts” as to why he seems like a mythical type of soldier without being an actual Spartan. Hence why he could go toe to toe with a massive and skilled elite like the Arbiter, Ripa ‘Moramee.

I just now realized, was the “fleet” the arbiter activates in this game the first look of the Guardians of Halo 5? If so then the planet they went too would make sense why it’s infested with the flood, bc the guardians are basically smaller rings and would eradicate them. Then the spirit of fire saved humanity in this one game, then again with delaying the banished in the second game.

A grim fact about the first few missions on Harvest iirc: while the planet has this snowy appearance, planet Harvest was before the war a very lush planet that quickly became the UNSC's granary world as its name would suggest.
I have a feeling all the "snow" present isn't a winter snow but a nuclear one, from all the conflict that occured on its surface.
That location on Harvest where the first part of this campaign takes place is referred to as the "northern polar region" by Anders, hence all the snow. It's simply the coldest part of Harvest.
Not saying Harvest didn't get it's share of "scars" from all the fighting, but I'm pointing that out.
Halo Wars 2 is awesome too. You get to see the Spartan Red team more.

This game is so underrated dude, and so nostalgic for me since it was the very first halo I’ve ever played and it never once made sense to me as to why the game was disliked
It is so interesting to me how much stronger the covenant vessels are. Whenever you see them engage in space combat, the humans get annihilated. In the beginning of Halo 2 you see only human ships getting destroyed except for the one Master Chief takes out with the bomb.
Now here in the Cutscene at 9:10 they show how 4 human ships engaged 2 covenant ships and lost.
Fun Fact: Most Sangheili stand on average 7.9 ft tall. This Arbiter (Ripa 'Moramee) was above average height standing, 8ft 10 Inches.

I believed it was explained that there was multiple sets that they make, since most arbiters would go on suicide missions and not even return with a body, plus not one set of armor will fit all elites
