As I have already finished and streamed my first time ever playing Halo 5: Guardians, we thought it would be fun to cut out all the cutscenes from that playthrough for all of your viewing enjoyment!

I agree with you *Gamerjoob* Halo 5 5 campaign was OK/ALRIGHT imo, there was ALOT MORE LOCK missions then chief missions tho, wished there was MORE CHIEF MISSIONS imo, I did like the WARDEN ETERNAL tho as a boss character, you did fight him like A "MILLION TIMES" tho ALSO FYI IF you was to play HALO 5 ON LEGENDARY there wouldve been one more cinema at the end. Was also wonderin could we play sometime, im on XBOX ONE X btw?
The part I don’t understand is why lock has something to do with the saviour of humanity ? I don’t like the design of the elites either while not explaining some background story of the new characters even the UNSC marines design looks very awkward even with the colours. But the story was ok with introducing the arbiter and blue team i 🥰.
something people forget is that due to how cryo works in halo, the years between the end of halo 3 and the end of halo 4 feels like its less than a week for chief, so in essentially a week he's lost Keys, Johnson and Cortana, so I always liked how blue team checks on him to be safe

I would also say i am always happy to see Arbiter! even if he didnt have much of a story in it haha
I would have enjoyed Halo 5 significantly more if Buck were the lead over Locke.
The multiplayer slapper. Might have not been the most halo multiplayer but damn it was really fun

@@johnleeka3282 Books are fine; the problem with the Buck books is that they were Bill Dietz-grade. Absolute dogshit. Too many writers these days just played Duke Nukem ~25 years ago and assumed every FPS protagonist was the same way internally.

OK but seriously at 47:28 the way Cortana screams Johns name honestly breaks my heart. Even though that's not the same Cortana we know and love and is just one of the fragments of her, the love she feels for John is still there. She still care for him and still want to be there for him and it breaks my heart

Chief v. Locke is the most unrealistic thing in the entirety of Halo. XD
Anybody familiar with the series knows that John-117 would just obliterate Locke and it wouldn't have been anywhere near that close; but even a nerfed Chief was still able to mollywhop his way through Locke's plot armor.
I think the chief was humoring him you can tell when he was fighting him and when he cracked his helmet it was clearly a one sided fight afterwards, he was buying time for blue team
I feel like the whole story behind the fight was Chief was going easy on him, buying time for Blue team to leave so he could disengage relatively peacefully. he didn't seam to want to fight, and didnt seem either to actually want to hurt locke. once locke broke his visor, he realised it just wasnt gonna be so straight forward and once the armour restraint came into play, he knew he was gonna have to actually get his hands dirty.
Spartan 3's maybe physically stronger than 2's, but a 2 will always beat them, its about the will power and the drive to complete the mission. a spartan 4 being a literal budget spartan meant chief could take his time until the armour restraint (the fight changer) was revealed.

Locke absolutely could hold his own before ultimately losing.
I mean Chief still absolutely wins, but its not gonna be an OHKO.
While S2's are absolutely superior Augmentation wise, S4's bridge the gaps in their Augs with Highly Advanced, Cutting Edge Armor.
S4's are physically weaker than S2 but their suits make them faster (Kelly still topping that chart though)
Plus, Locke is in no way a pushover.
He is a highly lethal ONI operative way before his Spartan Augmentation. Dude was supposed to assassinate Thel until the Great Schism.
@@raizenr2387 The Chief isn't using the Mk-II armor from Halo 2. His armor has been upgraded since theb, so to claim that Locke's armor give him that significant of an advantage simply doesn't work. Also, Locke may be highly trained, but the Chief has been raised and augmented specifically for use in high-risk combat scenarios and spent damn near literally his entire life at war to the point where he is designated as one of the two most lethal SPARTANs in the entire program, with SPARTAN B-312 (Noble 6) being the only one as dangerous.

Fun fact, that fist fight between chief and Locke is not lore accurate, the height between blue team and Osiris is not lore accurate. There are so many lore issues in this game its ridiculous

Never been a Halo lore guy, just go off the games but this game's story angered me so much, I figure its worth doing.
@@TH-camCensors I'd you love the Halo universe I HIGHLY recommend getting Into it. I wasn't super into it either, and when Halo 5 first came out I was pumped when Chief beat Locke. But after learning so much about my favourite games universe, I can never look at Halo 5 the same
In the fight between Locke and Master Chief, MC is clearly holding back his full force cuz Locke is a fellow Spartan who is following his orders.But if MC fought with his full force Locke would get crushed like a tin can. Because of master Chief's battle experience and the enhancements he got while training and from the librarian.

I would just like to say that despite the story not working for me personally, I understand where they were taking the story and why. I have a ton of respect for 343 and the employees. They work so damn hard even if something doesn't work out.

I really liked 4 and cant wait for Infinite
I'd say it's a good direction (as much as I hate bringing cortana back) but with very poor execution. 5 could've had a great campaign, but it was mediocre at best.
@@navb0tactual They should definitely have Blue Team and some appearance of Buck and other members of Osiris with more character development. But Halo Infinite is definitely Chief-centric. More Arbiter plz!

My only issue with this campaign was that it was marketed as an entirely different game and the missions felt like the game couldn't decide between whether it was a sequel to Halo 4 or a sequel to Spartan Ops. The poor balance of plot lines in this campaign left all of them feeling too weak and like the story went nowhere when it had so much potential.
It was supposed to have a sequel story to Spartan Ops centering around Thomas Thorne, but they cut him last minute.
You know what... this is probably the most accurate thing said about the campaign. It DOES feel like it wanted to basically be Spartan Ops' sequel/continuation, and they tacked on MC and Co into the story to sell more. I would have been fine with that if that was the direction they went. And of course, the advertising for this game was all over the place. That did NOT help matters.
@Paul Thomas add to the fact that most of the cutscenes either cut out at weird parts, and some of the 'levels' were just 'walking tours' as I like to call them, this game was just a hot mess from start to finish. This is still the only Halo campaign I refuse to replay more than the two times I've already done with it. And THAT was because of the infuriating AI partners you had to deal with if you wanted to play solo.
Kelly is Chiefs oldest living friend and also the fastest Spartan
Linda is a supernaturally good sniper and one of the quietest Spartans
Fred was always leader of Red Team until most of the Spartans died, and was considered the second best at everything. Second strongest, second fastest, second best shot and at close combat.. it's debatable that he might've been better than he showed but never wanted the attention and so might've let others beat him because he's a good leader.
Blue Team. The best of the best of the best
I actually likes Halo 5. The story had some really cool selling points, like the Swords of Sanghelios, and the Arbiter leading them. The ending was a bit anti-climactic because Chief and Arbiter didn't even look at each other at the end. And we don't know what happened to the Infinity.
Though the ending was actually extended in a book and Master Chief and Arbiter actually had a celebration party of sorts where they ate sangheli barbeque and reminisced their past together. Which is pretty cool.
Yeah it had some cool stuff, but the problem with Halo 5 was how many things it tried to fit them all into one game. And that's what killed the campaign because the pacing was awful and rushed.
well their character stuff isn’t great and the art style sucks ass, the gameplay and music is good but isn’t really halo, doesn’t really fit in the series

I like Halo 5. Even though it wasn't good it's still a Halo game. One thing I liked about it is Arbiter is back and leads Swords of Sanghelios. Please I hope he comes back in Infinite.
My favorite thing from Halo 5 is the forge system. You can just abt build anything and make a flyable pelican

From what you said about Cortona, although she did come back, you have to remember that from what survived of Cortona was her rampancy clones.
So in short, the original Cortona we all know and love, is not the same one for this Campaign.

While that is true, from a story perspective it’s still kind of bad in my opinion. It really killed the emotional ending from the last game, and it feels so soon and unwarranted.
It feels so weird that so many people just know she’s alive somehow.
@@InformerMaz Yeah, they should have gone with the route they look to be taking with infinity, where a new Cortana is made, but to chief it's not the same one he went through hell with. She doesn't have the same quirks and the personality is just off. That way they get to bring back one of their signature characters, without doing a terminator cliché, and without it feeling cheap.
While technically true that her current self stems from "rampant" fragments, we still don't fully understand the extent of her cloning ability. As far as theory goes, all of her clones retain her "conscience" (memories/experience), and they're simply fragments of her ability/functionality (lore only ever mentions Cortana's clones possessing fragments of her abilities/functionality, not memories and experience). Note that personality is a functionality, so some clones have different personalities.
Rampancy is simply an AIs conscience lacking the space to continue developing, they can't have any more memories or experience, so errors start compounding and indefinitely ruin the AI's functionality (it's even possible that memories are starting to overwrite functionalities). Rampant AI are just AI with full memory, so technically the rampant fragments the current Cortana is made of is still the true Cortana. At most, she lacks memories from her absolute last interactions with Chief before she linked to the Domain (the domain didn't cure cortana, it just gave her access to unlimited space for her to grow).
Cortana does mention that her loyalty to humanity was programmed (her functionality), but she still shares sympathy for humanity outside of the programming (her conscience). The rampant fragments the current Cortana stems from were 100% conscience and 0% functionality (hence the rampancy), meaning that programmed loyalty is gone, but she's still the same Cortana. This is why she's still attached to Chief.
Halsey is Cortana's programmed loyalty to humanity, Chief is Cortana's sympathy for humanity. Halo Infinite might be their way of contrasting the new "Halsey Clone Cortana" (the weapon) with the original but now independant "Chief Cortana". As of right now, Cortana is as human as an AI can get, meanwhile her replacement is just another programmed machine. Maybe Chief finally gets to understand who truly is the machine, and will have to pick between programmed loyalty and human sympathy.
@@brandonchapman4532 Another thing I've theorized, that Infinite may disprove, is that this Cortana is doing a lot of what she does here from a twisted belief of keeping the Chief 'safe' - including by bringing enforced peace, so there'll be no more war for him to be caught up in.
Given rampancy and separate fragments can lead to monomania.
Don't forget to check out the legendary ending. Plays right into Halo Infinite's story.

The problem with halo 5 is you have to read the books to even understand who most of the characters are and what is going on
I do think that the story did feel quite stuffed with other lore from extended media!
Like i think it can be enjoyed with just playing the games but it is definitely lore heavy and probably confusing for general audiences!
I was very glad that i had background knowledge of blue team and some of the extended lore!
And even then it just breaks so much lore and comes across as too cliché.

The first Cutscene for Blue Team at 8:10 does contain a small little detail that I'm not sure if everyone noticed, but how Chief is visibly shaking when he's holding onto his helmet and flying the Pelican, you can tell he really hasn't recovered after losing Cortana, he effectively lost a part of himself, something that can't easily be replaced. After Infinite I can see what 343 is trying to do with Cortana 2.0, but it doesn't feel the same
Halo 4 had one of the best stories when it comes to fleshing out Chief and Cortana's relationship and how Chief had to let go of her once again, but unlike Halo 2-3 it was permanent, Halo 5 almost showed how that has affected Chief, from him visibly shaking, and pushing himself with mission after mission, but they crammed too much into the story, from Osiris to the Guardians, it didn't feel good. If they kept Halo 5 to just Chief and Blue team, where Chief is trying to recover after losing a part of himself with an introduction to the situation with the Guardians towards the end, and then had a spin-off with Osiris investigating the Guardians and Cortana, with a mid-late game inclusion of Blue team would've done better in my opinion, but the past is the past so we can only have dreams of what could have been
A fun fact that I've learned not so long ago: Apparently the reason why the game didn't focus more on Master Chief was because the developers legit didn't know that he was the MAIN character, the game director admitted that he thought Chief was just a vessel for the players to be immersive

The main theory that the community has been guessing for Cortana's actions is that this version of her was one of her rampant pieces that didn't get fully destroyed when the Didact's ship was. So the real Cortana actually died at the end of Halo 4.
Its not a theory, listen to her lines "when i last saw john i was pulled into slip space" that is one of her fragments that didnt die because it found the domain, it never even touched john at the end of halo 4. It was a rampant fragment made of rage and emotion, and honestly it worked well but they did such a shit job showing that, that nobody figured it out on the 1st playthru. Should've had a flashback like halo 4 did with the librarian. That would've fixed the confusion
The tent scene (33:50) raises some canonical questions about the intro in the Halo 2 Remastered version, like both have Arbiter and Locke being introductive to each other and giving similar expositions... was the Halo 2R intro just some promotional bit for Halo 5?

I don't love 5. But I do love that after Chief suffered heartbreak, he went back to his friends. Most human thing he's done in a minute.

It breaks my heart because I kinda love the elite design for halo 4, they’re so fucking massive and imposing yet they can still kick ass…And here they’re pointless
Although they are a bit too slow in this, it's worth noting that humanities technology has been propelled massively ahead of the ex covenant species. It was explained in the books that the covenant as a whole never really understood the fore runner tech, they just adapted it for their use and relied heavily on the engineers to keep it all working. Humanity on the other hand had an easier time understanding it, and took the time to understand it and better tune it towards working with their technology.
I never noticed in the beginning until now that Halsey had a photo of miranda keyes, because I had also forgotten that Miranda is Halsey’s daughter lol.
from a “i just wanna play the campaign cuz its halo” standpoint its a great campaign, not the best out of the franchise but it was something different. from a lore perspective it was a little over the place, forcing cortana to be a villain, you couldnt really feel “attached” to some of the characters because none of them really stood out. That being said i still love this campaign along with all of them

With Cortana they should have stuck with going down the route it looks like they are in infinity, where they make a new Cortana, but to chief she's not the one he went through hell with, just an imitation. The whole AI turning on humanity thing seems a little cliché too. Would have been better if maybe the banished got hold of the mantle, as they're a much better protagonist.
And the fight between Locke and chief was a joke. Yes his armour technically makes him as strong as chief, but you're talking about someone who has trained and lived military since the age of 6 with a fraction of the down time regular military would have, vs someone who may have been spec ops, but was still just a regular enlisted who got their augmentations recently. Chief should have walked all over him, and that's one of the reasons the game got so much hate, it felt like they where trying to phase out chief and replace him with Locke, who although he's a cool character, has no history in the series and just came out of nowhere. At least if it had been buck he had some history and had built up some respect. And the protagonist is better faceless anyway.
The final issue was the blatant misinformation of the trailers. Advertised as "the greatest hunt in gaming history", with chief being on the run, Locke chasing him down, standing over each other battered and broken, the UNSC declaring humanity's greatest hero a traitor. And it all came down to chief disobeying an order and Locke being tasked to bring him home, with a little fist fight before they're all friends again.

The story in this game actually makes sense, it just explains it horribly and you have to dive deep into it. The UNSC knew about cortana because Halsey learned about her while working for Jul Mdama. They sent Locke after master chief because they truly don’t know his or cortana’s intentions, just that cortana is dangerous, and chief could possibly side with her. They all know how attached he is to cortana and how that could mean if she had ill intentions, he may side with her (even though it’s completely out of his character)
Only watching this series for the nostalgia , but i just wanna say hearing you name everyone put a smile on my voice 😁
The only redemption the rapid plot jump could have is if they explained the graveminds logic plague, rampancy, interfacing with the didacts systems and then merging with the domain… but they didn’t do that. 😢

True. Plus I like how Arbiter and Buck came back but as it’s been said. Of the few good things 5 gave us it brought a load of problems with it. I just hope 343 doesn’t kill fan favorites like Arbiter or Buck. Can’t say much for other characters.
Will say that the new Spartan commander from Infinite Multiplayer cinematic I like more than Palmer.
It's not a weak story, it's just poorly told. The OT is a weak story that is really well told. (There is a massive, logic breaking plot hole between 2 and 3 that basically turns the story and books into a joke), it still one of my favourite stories of all time

@@thesenate3728 I mean, the story is basically just the cliché "ai realises oppression is the best form of protection" with a little story about how chief was naughty and disobeyed an order. They didn't establish a new enemy. The threat that was established just felt out of our grasp, and the way they brought back Cortana was just cheap.

If Halo 5 didn’t include Master Chief it would’ve been a much better side game like Halo Reach was. 3 missions as the Chief was kind of sad especially now that 343 is pretending as if Halo 5 never existed.
343 Can save this by making an expansion to Halo Infinite where you play as Buck. That would be amazing as Infinite is such a great game.
If the Master Chief didn't take it easy on Locke, he'd be wearing his ass for a hat.
I beg the Arbiter is around in Halo Infinite. The covenant are no longer around because of the banished but I doubt they would kill him off screen.
They do have a history of killing off major characters in the books lol
I just realised halo 4 could have been another halo 2 with MC’s story more about slowly losing Cortana and the arbiter slowly rising to power gaining more supporters through out like a contrast where chief losses and arbiter gains

I think that a Halo-6 game should be made as the grand finale. The war with The Banished continues, all sights are on it, as things are heating up, it almost seems as if the Banished are becoming more aggressive, pushing into human space, but almost as if they’re becoming less brutal. After overtaking a Banished Ship, a terrible truth is revealed. The Banished are fleeing. A brute arrogantly released the parasite, and the flood have already taken over an uncountable number of Banished worlds. Thousands of graveminds. The human and ex-covenant forces attempt to fight them off, but they are now as well developed as they were when they took on the Fourrunner. The fight looks bad, and new systems fall with each day… There’s no way to stop the endgame threat. The longer the fight takes, the less of them there are- and it seems there’s only one option left…
Your thoughts mirror mine. I actually think there were lots of cool things they could have done in the details that would have made this come together. I don't fundamentally hate Evil Cortana as much as everyone else. She just wants to keep everyone safe, and she finally has the power to do it. And the other AIs joining Cortana shows that she's not just crazy per se, rather it all makes sense from the perspective of ultra intelligent sentient beings that also know that they are going to die in just a few years. Cortana in 4 and even that little bit from Serena at the start of Halo Wars 2 drives that home for me. They don't want to die any more than humans do - and they're cursed with knowing exactly how long they have left too, even as they build attachment and emotional bonds...
But.. the moment to moment story telling of this high concept really let it down. The characters (and I REALLY like the idea of Locke and Buck and especially Vale) never get the chance to really stand out or be special. Oh well.
Ya I completely agree what you said about Cortana and why she going this route, but I can give a bit more of a lore reason as to why she like this in 5. So at the end of halo 4 she split up her rampant personality to help chief, well the original personality died during the ending of the game when she saves John from the explosion. But one of the fragments of her got into the domain and cured that fragment of rampancy and that the Cortana we see in halo 5. She not the one we lost in 4 but there sill a part of he run that fragment that want to protect John at any cost

The reason why 5 was so good. Was because it finally showed what other Spartans are capable of.
((How Buck became a Spartan I still have no idea. Since the first generation of them had to go through procedures when they were still kids )) I don't remember the other two Spartans on Blue. But I know Kelly was in the original generation. Regarded as "their fastest Spartan" .
But, 5 is a testament to just how terrifying the Spartans are. Since they are no where near in number to the covenant/flood/banished/robot bad guys who's name I don't remember, yet those few are what pushed back the legions of enemies.
And every generation 1 Spartan is essentially equivalent to John. The only difference being "luck".
as much as people hate on this game, there were so many cool, world building moments in here, on the colony and Sanghelios for example. I think the biggest weakness was the narrative was a bit weak and the focus on Locke's team was disappointing, I always wanted more Blue team....Also the Warden Eternal got old REAL quick and if you didn't have other player to coop with, the ai teammates were near braindead and pretty useless...
Haha I love the scene of chief winning and beating the crap of locket master chief and blue team are the true main Spartans

My only wish Storywise for infinite is that Cortana, the real Cortana comes back.

The reason evil cortana exists is because it’s a fragment due to her rampancy. The real cortana died in halo 4, this one has control issues and an unhealthy obsession with Chief

I can never get over how bad Locke's dialogue is in this game....I mean...who responds like that....Wish they made Buck the leader of osiris, more interesting character, and he already has leadership experience. Plus he's an established character that we already know.

Most people didn't really dislike them, just the fact they seemed to be phasing out chief for Locke, who just came out of nowhere and had no history in the series.

You can see the point where Locke made Chief angry. Chief wasn't going too hard originally but as soon as his visor was cracked Chief decided to fuck it and beat Locke down.
It just doesn't fit the lore is the issue. It's been established from the start that the S2's don't pull their punches if something is a threat to their mission. He has decades more experience than Locke both as a spartan and just fighting in general.

I hope she knows the secret ending off halo wars 2 it ties directly into this. I know people dont like the new cortana but she has access to the fore runner domian she knows all what the fore runners know. When you know what gods knew you will valeu simple life less. Its exactly how humans see animals in the real world.
The issue is it's such a cliché with the AI realising that oppression is the best way to protect life. It was cool when terminator came out, it was ok when iRobot came out, nowadays it's just overdone to hell and felt like a cheap excuse to bring back a signature character.

i would not have hated galo 5 if they had the entire campaign as locke and the team was not osairis but called guardians instead of the enemy....they try to stop evil cortana fragment but fail at the end and thats when master chief shows up in a new armour and that leads to halo 6.

Halo 5 has really taking me back to halo 2, seeing the arbiter again, playing two characters in the game. Nostalgic but new at the time. Loved the little Cortana reunion aswell but feel sad when she has gone rouge. What's great was the ending, like the son (John) is reunited with his mother (dr Halsey)

Spartan locke can eat it.
They really went and turned the Spartans into avengers. That and they just couldn't let Cortana die with dignity and grace. They had to turn her into space hitler for reasons.
At the beginning when locke and his team jumped off the ship and did the "avengers" thing. The way they were moving is how fast and Strong spartans are suppose to be. The game was very inconsistent with that and even with locke vs chief but at the beginning of the game with that cutscene is how spartans are suppose to be like especially when going through an army. What i didnt like was the spartan suits feel heavy and they arent suppose to feel like their heavy. The suits are super light to them like as if they were wearing nothing. I actually liked the idea that cortana refused to die when she was suppose to and i honestly didn't want cortana to die, it made a story that she found a way for AI to live pass the year that they should die. Have AI to be immortal, i guess from what cortana said. I also actually like that cortana somehow manage to have an actual body, i dont know how that happened but its interesting to see that. Like she is still an AI but also has an actual body. I think that concept is actually nice to the story and adds something new. I mean when halo 3 came out and then halo reach, Bungie was done with halo but with the halo 3 Legendary ending, it was like a good ending if they didnt want to continue but also a good way that if they wanted to go back and continue the story and expand it more that it was also at the same time open for it. People say that halo 5 ruined the lore but Bungie also kind of ruined it too. In halo 3 if i remember correctly, there were terminals that would say the forerunners were different species but had similarities to humans but in the cutscene with Guilty spark, he tells chief that he is forerunner meaning humans are forerunner which is why they were the only ones that were able to activate the halo rings. So Bungie themselves couldn't decide whether they wanted the forerunners to be humans or not. So then halo 4 comes by 343 that made a final decision that forerunners are not humans. People say halo 5 ruined lore but in halo 3 bungie couldn't decide if forerunner were humans so they ruined lore as well and even with halo reach ruined lore too because what happened in Halo Reach was not something that happened in Halo Fall of Reach book which Bungie wrote before Halo 1. So when 343 took over and made halo 4. 343 was trying their very best to merge Halo Reach and Halo Fall of Reach so somehow it would make sense because of bungie. So i hate how these so called " hardcore halo fans" or if you are one of them that don't acknowledge that bungie ruined their own lore with halo reach and then with halo 3 decision on the forerunners with the terminals saying one thing while the cutscene was saying another. You people are so caught up on nostalgia that you dont let expand things with a new story and fight a new enemy. The reason why halo 4 ended up the way it did was because 343 had to clean up the mess that bungie left with Halo Reach because halo reach was not what bungie wrote at all in Halo Fall of Reach. So again 343 had to try their best to merge the both so it would make sense. Majority of people love halo reach and Halo Reach was a fun game but i hate the story because thats not how it happened in Halo Fall of Reach and that book connected with Halo 1. What i didn't like about halo 4 was that they changed the first original spartan suits when the attack on Harvest happened. Since cortana turned evil, could have been a story where we save her and have her with us again.

There's nothing wrong with that per say. It just broke too much of the lore and felt a bit cheap overall. Considering the advertising went on about the greatest hunt in gaming history, it was just really anticlimactic.
