    Last time I was in San Diego, 1968, the El Cortez hotel was the tallest building, Broadway was a typical Navy street: bars, dives, tattoo shops, etc, etc. Population about 100,000. No bridge to Coronado, rode the 'nickle-snatcher' to North Island. Good Times. Planned on staying here, go to college, never leaving. Now I'm in Philadelphia the last 40 years. Best laid plans . . . . & all that stuff.

    Was stationed at 32nd St Naval Station from 1984-89 on USS Cape Cod AD 43 and USS Kinkaid DD 965

    Went to boot camp at NTC at San Diego. My first duty station ,Pearl harbor on the U.S.S. Whipple. My last duty station was 32nd st. San Diego. On board the U.S.S. Henry B. Wilson DDG 7.

    I have taken the San Diego harbor tour 15 times. It never gets old. The boats are owned by Hornblower.

    When i was there last summer there was way more ships destroyers cruisers independence class destroyers medical ships supplie ships and aircraft carriers
