    Before I came to Germany, I recorded lots of groceries and the prices at a grocery store named Ralphs. Now I’m in the grocery store in Germany and I am comparing those two videos, America and Germany and try to find out in which country has the cheapest groceries prices.

    I am mostly German born in Chicago. I am older now with more time so I (in the suburbs now) routinely go through the big garbage bins and pull out as many plastic bottles to put into the recycle container. I usually pull out about 3 regular garbage cans FULL of plastic bottles of every type every week. It makes me feel good to watch when the truck picks up all those recyclable plastics up. Even all those large laundry detergent bottles which I call high value. I also roam the condo complex grounds routinely to pick up garbage that many people just throw to the ground. Being neat, clean and organized must be a German thing. I'm just doing my part to make America Beautiful as much as possible.

      but China and the USA have a strong economy , I would love to visit China , heard a lot of great stuff , I've heard the capital city is like a mega city with modern state of the art roads and metros and stuff but Germany has a very strong economy , prices are high but people have high wages

    It looks like mom washed out all the empties , in Michigan with the 10cent deposit , it's not required to wash out the empties , grocery stores hate that law because of all the sticky syrup and beer and wasps and bugs that are part of the exchange process. But at 10 cents some people still just toss the empties out of their car or leave empties here and there along places they've sat and consumed the beverage in public. Glad you mom is feeling well enough to be out and about.

      @@sonyacarlisle341 Back when it was instituted in the 70's 10Cents would be worth about 50cents today. So yep it would make sense to bump it if you didn't want as many empties laying about. And it probably makes sense to pull the return stations out of retailers so they don't have to deal with all the spit, viruses, and sticky stuff in a grocery store environment. (they wheel full bins of these crushed cans and bottles through the store in some locations very close to open food like veggies. Just build a few stations dedicated to this and let the distributors handle it not the retailers.

    Hello Mike and your sweet mom‼️ Happy 2023 to you both and so happy your mom is doing well and she looks great! Love your awesome Vlog and the large store in Germany 🇩🇪 so nice to see plastic bottles she collected and gets 25 cents, how awesome is that! They should do this all over in Canada and USA 🇺🇸 in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 my husband is from Holland and been there so many times and such a beautiful country back in the day! Now it's overcrowded with refugees and so expensive country etc! So glad you are still with your mom especially when she took sick! That's awesome!! Happy you're doing well now and on the mend also! You look great now and stay that way okay Mike! Have a wonderful day and weekend and say hello to Gogo and Tommy as well! Stay safe and enjoy your day and evening ☕🍂🍁🌞

    YASSS... I'm with you Mike... SPICY ketchup :D SO much cheaper in Germany - interesting video. I LOVED all the cheese varieties when I was visiting Germany. I like the Radler beer with Lemon as well. Good Stuff! Nice to see the price comparisons. I also loved the FRESH markets everywhere. Another option to the grocery store.

    The Germans are smart and efficient as seen in so many aspects of life that you have shown us. I love seeing everyday things the German way. Thank you GIV and mom for taking us with you. I’ve been to Greece and Italy but I must say the German ideas are superior! God bless you both and I look forward to more videos from your native country….🌝

      In Germany when the cops pull you over, they pull in front of you and then turn on their lights. They found it cuts down on people running.

      Not everyone. Some people is organized and smart, and that's the way of success. Some other people is chaotic. And others are simply stupid, they obey the rules blindly but get no benefit from them.

    In Montreal Canada we also recycle all our bottles and can for 5, 10, or 20 cents, 40 cents for large glass beer bottles. We also have the coin exchange machines, but you pay a small percent. Im glad you and your mum are doing better! It really is crazy the price of food since the pandemic, I feel sorry for some people. But Hela ketchup WOOP WOOP!😀😁😎

    Recycling needs to become far more mainstream here in America

      Why?

    • @col.cottonhill6655
      @col.cottonhill6655 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do recycle. Even the big waste company that comes to your house to pick up the garbage. They have machines and conveyors that sort out much of the recyclable materials.
      Besides there's more plastic and aluminum than you can imagine. They don't mine for new aluminum anymore to make pop cans

    • @winniethepoohandeeyore2
      @winniethepoohandeeyore2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@col.cottonhill6655 Recycling is still NOT as mainstream as it should be. I live in rural small town USA and I can assure you some areas DO NOT recycle.

    • @col.cottonhill6655
      @col.cottonhill6655 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@winniethepoohandeeyore2 I won't criticize rural places. I spend my time between living in L.A. and a small mountain community in San Bernardino county.
      It's not rural America that has a problem with trash and Garbage. It's here in a progressive city like L.A. where it's totally disgusting and there's litter everywhere. Even tho the people are obsessed with things like recycling programs.
      Go to the beach here if you don't believe me you will cry. There are face masks and other kinds of trash all in the water. It's heartbreaking.

    • @winniethepoohandeeyore2
      @winniethepoohandeeyore2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@col.cottonhill6655 But you JUST said recycling is everywhere.... Imagine how much could be picked up, recycled if they had those types of machines here in America so people could get a few cents back per item, How big of a dent it would make in the massive amount of waste in America....Especially now.

    Really similar in Oregon for bottles and cans. Surprised me when I moved from California. At first, it was 5 cents per container, now it's 10 cents per container.
