Today's topic is "Digital Monster", or "Digimon", this video visualizes the Origins, Characteristics (as in Name, Digicore & Evolution) and Classifications (as in Level, Attribute, Field, Type & Sex･Gender) of Digimon.

Just realized that we haven't made a content covering what are actually Digimon, despite calling ourselves Digimonology, so here we have it, a video explains and illustrates the traits of Digimon, with extensive visuals.
In the making of this, we also enhanced our production quality, now with voiceover that has more proper pronunciation (no more Digi...men, min, mun, and less mispronunciation, hopefully), and finally the first video of ours to have full high definition, hopefully it does improve visual experience.
Coming up next, after this, for the lore content, "It's no monster, it's god(s)."
We are currently working on another lore content pertaining to the Digital Gods, particularly, God, and the many core computers/host computers/systems and/or god-like entities; Atanasoff, Eniac, Homeostasis, Yggdrasill, and Homeros.

As a small addition to the anime evolution being temporary: that is explained in the Digimon Adventure novelization written by the anime's director Hiroyuki Kakudou, he explained that the evolution we see in the anime is temporary because it is actually an artificial evolution triggered by the children's emotions and bond with their digimon, this is also the reason why the Leomon they befriended in the first season could also evolve into Saberleomon thanks to him being exposed to the power of the kid's digivice, but he couldn't stay in that form permanently; and this is also why the wild digimon they encounter don't return to their previous forms.
As for the "no level" digimon, that is explained in the manga version of Xros Wars, that evolution was blocked thanks to Yggdrasill being on "sleep mode" because of it's encounter with Masaru in the Savers universe, and at the end of the manga they manage to unlock evolution so everyone could evolve once again.

Thanks for pointing out that Digimon in Xros Wars do have biological genders and reproduce sexually. A lot of Digimon fans seem to forget this. It's also worth noting that in other seasons, Digimon can fall in love with each other, which implicates some sort of romantic or sex drive.

That's actually one of our plans for the future. Or perhaps we will do it after the Digimon's Gods.
It would be interesting to make video(s) about other Digital Lifeforms like the D-Reaper, Eater, Eraser, Vitium, Chronocore, etc.
But I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon as now we are very much occupied by other projects.

In Pokemon, the localized english terms seem to be more official and done well. In Digimon, though, those terms are so random and often just completely stupid, without a reason. Change Yagami to Kamiya, because Yagami is IMAGAY read reversely. Shinka is digivolution, instead of evolution. This isn't bad though. But the names of certain digimon are just bad. Because it seem some people who translated them didn't know how Japanese works. I would do a better job translating Japanese names to English. Examples are everywhere. Why they couldn't just call Cockatrimon Cockatrimon, but they literally used the romaji spelling of the name - Kokatorimon. Didn't the translators know how it works? I also remember them changing Mercuremon to Mercurymon... for *no reason*. So when the Mercurymon appeared later, they had to change his name to Merukimon. It makes so many confusions, especially if someone tells You that he likes Mercurymon and You are trying to guess if he's talking about the japanese one or the english one, which is Mercuremon actually... I really hate stupid translations. Or DORUmon. Why they removed caps from the name? It's crucial part. Because it's an acronym. Digital OR Unknown monster. Literally that's his full name. DORUmon is like a short name. If the names made sense, I would like english versions. But they don't. As I mentioned, I use only english pokemon names. But I wouldn't dare to use english names of digimons. Because the quality of those localized terms are different.

im going to sound ignorant but what is the game in some of the scenes like 12:51 example? I feel like its a Chinese digimon app game or something. or have i just not played Air rise?
The evolution and attack scenes of that timestamp are from Digimon Universe Appli Monster episode 45.

Soo, is Rookie - Champion - Ultimate - Mega naming come from the original or Western translation?
In this video we got Child - Adult - Perfect - Ultimate, which i have truly never known before.
Rookie to mega is English dub, child to ultimate is Japanese. Worth noting that even in the Japanese, this isn't really about age. We've seen an old rookie or child level digimon in frontier with kokuwamon. It's weird

This video is actually reading out texts mixed up from different sources.
The main objective or distinction is to attempt to visualize the information with appropriate appealing visuals.

Digimon is for sure an inconsistent franchise, the inconsistency in the origins, in the universes, in digivolution, digixros, levels, in the genders, basically the inconsistency in everything.
Probably why people began to leave.
It's inconsistent because, said in the video, the creators have different interpretation on the franchise
Not really, digimon do have gender.
Digixros is possible because of crossloader because they lost the meaning to evolve.
