I like them Crystals! I'm sure I will find some soon with the same colours in the rocks😊👍✌good to see you and family out doing what you love!! That's what it's all about! Cheers.
Pyrite is such a cool little crystal- perfect cubes in a mass of mayhem. It’d be great to hear more about how and why you choose the spots you search, and what makes them more apt to have whichever minerals your searching for. I think it’s awesome that your daughter is involved with this hobby with you- good for you guys!
I love pyrite cubes. I had documented earlier in the day the indicators that I was looking at to identify the high potential spots. However, I did not realize how much wind noise there was and most of the video is unusable. I will try some editing tricks to see what I can salvage and will post it if I can make a story.
Wow amazing finds, good job! Imagine how cool it would've been to have been on that original blast crew way back when... I'm sure crazy specimens were flyin' in all directions! haha. I see the black flies have calmed down up there, makes the day more enjoyable for sure. Keep em' coming, love the adventures!!
Yeah. Deciding when to stop is always difficult. I still had a 6 hour drive ahead of me and wanted some of it in daylight. I hate driving at dusk in places that there are moose.
DUDE ! I like a lot. There are quite a few beautiful crystals that you collected in this video , I recently acquired a nice specimen but it doesn't compare to the larger crystals that you found . Nice video and thank's for sharing your experiences .
I should use the air scribe more often. Now, I am sure my wife will say it is because I have covered all flat surfaces with rocks and have no room. She might in fact be correct. LOL
Sweet Pyrites, I thought the slow-mo of you using the sledge really brought home why to use safety glasses, lots of supersonic shards flying of those rocks!! 👍
One time I was about 20' from somebody swings a sledge and a piece of rock flew by me that sounded like a bee. Get used to mono-vision if one of those goes into your eye.
New subscriber here. I'm enjoying your channel. Even got my kids interested in crystal hunting. Going to a cottage near Cloyne. Will try our first go at outcrop poking. You have any recommendations for the area?
I have not rockhounded immediately in the Cloyne area but it is dead centre in a huge mineralized area. If you are up in there next weekend, the Bancroft Gemboree is happening.
I always wanted to find a pyrite cube in the wild lol, all the pyrite around here, is in dust form. Are you going to show the extraction of the Cube from the host rock in a video ?
It's heartwarming seeing how good you are with the kids... May I ask...Host rock ? Is it the only/most common for cube pyrite ? Thanks for sharing. Peace
That’s them man their so awesome you rock on the FX buddy woooooo! I would like too pickup some for shore....thank you , take a bunch put holes and string them and ware that would look awesome.thank you for sharing meminer, Make a chess board of of them ...
Hey, I have a couple samples like this I found years ago at an old gold mine tour place in/near Timmins that has since closed. I have a sample in my science classroom because the students like to see it.
Some of the pyrites by Timmins were associated with gold. You should look over your rock with magnification to see if you can spot any gold. That would be cool.
The best advice is to get into an area where pyrite has been found before and then zero in on the the kind of rock formation that hosts it. In this location, it was the grey sedimentary rock, but not the metamorphic rock. Usually, you will see indications on the outside of the stone before spending too much time cracking rocks. If there is pyrite on the outside, of a larger rock, then usually there will be more pyrite inside.
Coloured how? If black, that is silver oxidation. If another colour, then that would be another metal (eg. blue is usually copper, pink is cobalt and green is nickel).
Oh now I understand. I thought you have a rock with silver in it. You have pyrite. If you have a few, put one that you are willing to sacrifice into vinegar to see if the silver goes away after a day. It might be a stain.
There was a copper mine close by. It also had gold and silver. There was a spot in northern BC where the shales held placer gold. You never know what can be found until you look...
In editing,, I could see a large pyrite just lying there. The thing about pyrites is they glow when the sun hits them one direction and are dark in another. So looking one direction you see it and from another you keep on walking...
lol, so when you say 'Northern Ontario', how Northern do you mean? North of Sudbury? North of Timmins? Summer Beaver? Fort Severn? Lol, Ontario goes North a Looooooooong way! Nice cubes enewes!
:D See, I ask questions, I learn things! I had no idea where the common line was. I looked it up on a googly map, and had to chuckle that it wasn't even as North as my most southerly guess of Sudbury. To zoom out and see all of Ontario with French River marked as the middle is funny geographically. I understand the population density difference, it's just always funny to me thinking of Sudbury as Northern Ontario. Just curious, what are the chances of finding galena or sphalerite near that place?
The French River is used for tax and Ministry of Natural Resources as a dividing line. Probably other places too. On the other hand, I know some folks in Toronto who think Lake Simcoe is north.
Want to trade a piece of salt from the Windsor Salt Mine for a Pyrite in ore sample? Not for me, for a boy in my grade 7 class who is totally into this stuff, but we live in Canada's southernmost city and we don't have access to the things you are finding. He could use a rockhound pen pal. I'm for real. Check us out on Twitter @7WPacers.
Awesome finds and even better seeing Amy enjoying herself right along with you! Canada clearly has many beautiful minerals to explore.
What a score on quality time! The most valuable pyrite crystals ever found....the smiles were priceless! Very happy for you ⛏
We had a blast. Too bad it was at the end of the day rather than the start. Always happens that way. A reason to go back
Awesome! Love seeing the kids involved! My 7 year old loves rock hounding “treasure hunting” :)
I like them Crystals! I'm sure I will find some soon with the same colours in the rocks😊👍✌good to see you and family out doing what you love!! That's what it's all about! Cheers.

A super great find congrats.. The best find of the day will be the memories of doing it with family.
Loved that 👍
Awesome finds sweet slow motion and snap shots fantastic video keep them coming

It was so windy that only the deer flies could try...
Great video with awesome finds. I would have a hard time walking away lol. Thanks for sharing. Take care and be safe.
Yeah. Deciding when to stop is always difficult. I still had a 6 hour drive ahead of me and wanted some of it in daylight. I hate driving at dusk in places that there are moose.
Great video. Really nice pyrites. Congrats.
That was a fun day.
Boy! I didn't know pyrite looks like that! These crystals are very nice!!
I love it.
DUDE! Nice finds. I’d totally lose track of time in a place like that finding all that sparkles... great video thanks again
The day flew by, except the driving part. I was in the truck 6 hours each way.
meMiner wow, but by the looks of the spot it was well worth the drive 😬👍🏼
Not according to my wife. LOL
Been their, done that. And got to hear about it after the fact.... lol
Great pyrites lesson. Thank you
DUDE ! I like a lot. There are quite a few beautiful crystals that you collected in this video , I recently acquired a nice specimen but it doesn't compare to the larger crystals that you found . Nice video and thank's for sharing your experiences .
We searched all day for pyrite to finally find "the good spot" late in the day. So even at a good mine, it is not everywhere.
wow some nice cubes for sure! Are you going to use the air scribe to expose more of the cubes?
I should use the air scribe more often. Now, I am sure my wife will say it is because I have covered all flat surfaces with rocks and have no room. She might in fact be correct. LOL
You like?
I like!
Very nice finds!
Wow, what a great spot.
I think your daughter really scored with that big Crystal. I'm like you, I like to keep them in the matrix as a specimen, looks neater.
Get used to mono-vision if one of those goes into your eye.
meMiner . Yeah no kidding. No more fun and games!
We are supposed to be doing this stuff for fun. It can quickly turn into a bad day if one is careless.
Good to see you out with the kids.
Man, you guys are looking for pyrite and we are tossing it out like crazy 🤣🤣! Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing
I love the look of pyrite cubes. I also like garnet. Not so much in a sluice however.... ;-)
Yea exactly lol.. but Garnett for sure!!!
DUUUUDE! Cleanin up with the pyrite crystals 👌such good watchin 😳
Sweet finds dude!
What type of stone are the pyrite found within? It breaks up pretty easily.
Little ones were in banded iron. The larger ones were in shale.
Nice finds, Amy!

I did one video last year and after a some work I had the cube in a bit of matrix and stopped. Then it fell out. ahhh! Yes, I will try again.
It's heartwarming seeing how good you are with the kids...
May I ask...Host rock ? Is it the only/most common for cube pyrite ? Thanks for sharing. Peace
We were finding smaller cubes in banded iron but the best were in slate.
meMiner
That's what I thought but wasn't 100℅ sure...Thanks
Which he collected from rocks by video clip Is it gold and how much the price of gram of it (rock).......thanks
Pure gold is about $42/USD per gram.
That’s them man their so awesome you rock on the FX buddy woooooo! I would like too pickup some for shore....thank you , take a bunch put holes and string them and ware that would look awesome.thank you for sharing meminer, Make a chess board of of them ...
Good idea
This is gold and how much is the price of about 100 grams in dollars. Thanks
Gold is currently about $42/USD per gram.
Wow! Some of those are really hidden away inside the rock. I'd say you all had a very good day. Thanks!
They are sneaky and hide really well...
Awesome! . Havnt seen pyrite cubes that big before ..
I have seen larger from this site, but have not personally found any.
Awesome finds

Okay, I'll have to take a closer look....although I am not sure I would know gold in that state if I saw it with my own eyes.@@meMiner
If you ever decide to be a tour guide I will be your first customer! I live in SW Ontario!
Very cool thanks for sharing ☠👍👍💙⛏💪⛏
IDK what it is about Pyrite.. but i feel a huge need to find some nice specimens! great video.
The cubes were really cool nice finds!!!,thanks
thanks!
Cute helper 😍
QUESTION: Are these rocks volcanic? What is its name? Thanks
Actually, sedimentary.
Northern Ontario is a big area. Which old mine is this at.
Sorry. The owner who granted permission does not want his site advertised on the internet.
not a problem.
Do the crystals have any monetary value?
yes
What clues you in there might be pyrite in the rocks

My piece is silver colored what would that mean?
Coloured how? If black, that is silver oxidation. If another colour, then that would be another metal (eg. blue is usually copper, pink is cobalt and green is nickel).
@@meMiner I'm not actually sure but it is just silver on the outside of the pyrite. but thank you.
Oh now I understand. I thought you have a rock with silver in it. You have pyrite. If you have a few, put one that you are willing to sacrifice into vinegar to see if the silver goes away after a day. It might be a stain.
@@meMiner I only have one sorry
Gosh those are cool! I'm gonna have to get some pyrite cubes!!!!! 5 days!
Have fun!
What were they mining there? Copper?
Iron
Cheers, I was first wondering because of the European copper shales which are host to a variety of metals.
There was a copper mine close by. It also had gold and silver. There was a spot in northern BC where the shales held placer gold. You never know what can be found until you look...
Oh no dude! I knew it was going to be good. Lol
I want to go there
I love you soo much. Thanks very much ok you good man🙂🙂🙂
Thanks. I am blushing. ;-)
DUDE how do you find that stuff!
We were looking all day for it. Hit so many spots and only finding really small ones. Then in a small remote area: whacko - they were everywhere.
love it
Meu LIKE!!!!!
Show!!!
É o amigo do Brasil!!!
Im proud of you. I love you
Sorry, couldn't see what was in front of Amy that you missed!
Great video .
Symon Sheppard it was two large Pyrite in a small host rock laying in the shadow of her feet.
In editing,, I could see a large pyrite just lying there. The thing about pyrites is they glow when the sun hits them one direction and are dark in another. So looking one direction you see it and from another you keep on walking...

Thanks, I will have another look.
meMiner
Yeah I know, it's the same with my chrome dome.
Super cool!
Thanks Yvonne
Kristen's voice reminds me of a young Joni Mitchell.
Always liked pyrite.....fools gold
Ooohhhh. Yummy. Cubic pyrite......
That was a fun day. We wandered around and of course found the best stuff in the last few minutes before we had to leave. Always the way...
Nice i like.
lol, so when you say 'Northern Ontario', how Northern do you mean? North of Sudbury? North of Timmins? Summer Beaver? Fort Severn? Lol, Ontario goes North a Looooooooong way! Nice cubes enewes!
The common line for most purposes is the French River. In this case, it was north of North Bay.
but wheerrreeeee? Im driving up there on saturday.
:D See, I ask questions, I learn things! I had no idea where the common line was. I looked it up on a googly map, and had to chuckle that it wasn't even as North as my most southerly guess of Sudbury. Dude...lets carry 3,678,452 lbs of rocks for $6.47 worth of pyrite
Sure.
Hi man......
