    We took ours out to the field yesterday. Pretty legit! Picked ours up for 100 bucks! The 618 Solo keeps up, but this thing is a steal at the price point, NIW. Paid 80 bucks for the 618 used.

    During tee-hitting:
    Was the pocket radar setup at the same relative position & angle? This video, looks like it's setup roughly 3~4 ft to the right of "the catcher". To compare across bats, the setup needs to be consistent.
    This is the one minor area Pocket Radar is not so good at - if the object is moving at an angle vs the radar's view. (Compared with $700+ radars)
    At roughly 6:30~7:00 during the "impression/interview" after live hitting, I can see most of the white mark left by the baseball are near the throat-side of the barrel.
    He will need to re-train to the 1" longer bat, and hit at the new sweet spot for this particular length & bat.
    String King Metal Pro BBCOR bat's sweet spot is not all-uniform.
    Look at the chart at bottom of this web page: stringking.com/baseball/bbcor-baseball-bats/metal-pro-bbcor/
    On that "tested bat", the best sweet spot is 6.5" from top of barrel. Within +/- 0.5" is still reasonable. Beyond that, the barrel-tip side is better than the throat side; trampoline effect is maintained longer towards the barrel tip, whereas it drops off significantly towards the throat.
    By the white marks on your son's bat, he did hit a few at the 6.5" mark. But most hits *seems* like they averaged roughly 7~8" from top of barrel. (This reflects his eyes & hands are still tracking & hitting the old bat length.) In this zone, the trampoline effect falls off very rapidly.
    Similarly, when he was hitting off the tee, the average hits (using slo-mo replay) looked like 4~5" from top of barrel.
    I believe if he hits the 6~7" zone consistently, he'll see even better performance.
    My son is in Little Leagues, bats need to follow USA Baseball rating.
    He was instantly hitting better when I switched him from a 27" Easton Beast to 27" Metal Pro (USA Baseball version).
    I am now considering to move him up the length. Debating whether to keep with String King Metal Pro (USA Baseball rated), or go to LS Omaha.
    Both are about the same price point. Both have great reviews based on performance-vs-price. But I haven't found a head-to-head comparison review between the two so far.
    I myself got a BBCOR-rated Metal Pro. And yes it feels absolutely great.
    Thank you for the video.
    It makes me feel a heck lot better about the Pocket Radar I just bought a few days ago. 😅

    No surprise..the swing feel is similar to the cat 8...String king is the best bat $ for $..

  • @johnwilliams4326
    @johnwilliams4326 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    We also own a string King we got from a local dealer Jeff alley, we were the same way skeptical and then one of are coaches got a 33" and the team tried out, before you know it we had about seven or eight string Kings on are team. For the money you cannot beat this bat $130 retail and you're hanging up there with the big dogs it's crazy

    • @NDOTV

    These Bbcor bats perform almost the same. It’s about balance and swing weight. You are really strong go end loaded . You’re a typical teenager. Go balanced. These exit velocity’s mean nothing when someone’s throwing 89 and you need barrel control through the zone

    • @ddog5347
      @ddog5347 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt this is true especially when it comes to the alloy bats. Also to be honest this bat is probably made by the same company that makes the big name bats. There are only so many places you can have a bat made so its likely to be made in one of the same places.
