    I buy this american product on ebay.
    For the price work well if not great
    mounting is pretty easy mounting accessories is including but you may make some holder to fit on your machine
    i will buy more of them to fit on other machine too because work with this DRO is much much easier and precise, especially for that price
    where to buy:
    www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=...
    Manufacturer's website:
    www.igaging.com/page5.html
    Thanks for watching

    Very professional video, thank you! My mill is an older Taiwan mill/drill, but I've gathered plenty of ideas for installation from your video. I especially like your brackets and wiring clips. :-) A question; do the scales and pickups need to be protected from chips and cutting oils?

      BilgeDweller hy, thanks for your comment, yes wiring clip come out preaty nice, i didn't know how to clip the cable then take peace of alu and start mill...
      That reader had an cleabel inside (something like flese) so no problem for chip, but im almost sure that reader is not waterproof, so i would stay out of cooling with them. look to seller site (igaging) i think that he selling another better aluminium (not plastic) dro, maybe is it watterproof.

    I hope you're still around to read this. How long do the batteries last? Do they have a sleep feature? Can they be powered through USB? Thanks!

    • @TinC33
      @TinC33  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bill Smith hello, sure i'm still here.
      I change one battery till now so it wor about two years now, there are no sleep function and i'm really missed it because i cought myself a few times that forgot to turn them off and they just work a few nights, or eaven weekend, so that's why i must change the battery, othervise the lifetine is really long.
      You can't power it up with usb, but there is another socket specialy for dc power supply, i planning to make it but don't see a need for that, i think that there's no problem to change battery every 1-2 or 3 years.
      So all good about power consumption, but last time i used it jumps from 0,02mm to like 5,82mm look like some fail come there.
      The biggest cons there is their speed, so i really think about real 500hz dro it cost about $300 from china and they are much much much better, faster accurate and all

    Hello,
    I installed the same system on a Proxxon 250e lathe that I have. On the X axis of the mini lathe I installed the DRO on the left hand side (the side of the headstock). I did it to gain space for the tailstock (to be able to reach closer the headstock). Do you believe at your experiance if the cutting chips (which are far more from this side) will cause problem to the DRO ?

    • @TinC33
      @TinC33  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think not if you got mounted vetrical, but if you got flat side up therw can be demage plastic on flat side rail, in that case i will try to protect it.

    • @techgeeks1009
      @techgeeks1009 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is parallel to the bed. I can send you a photo if you want. I cannot imagine how can I protect it....

    • @TinC33
      @TinC33  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@techgeeks1009 do you turning lot of steel? If not there are no ptoblem at all, brass and alu doesn't make troubles. I mean the main rail do you got vetical (like i on x axis) or horizontal so the big surface(with plastic) is on top, so chip can stay on it, otherwise if you got mounted verical there is only about 3mm wide on top so chip can't stop here, also plastic is from side then, no problem.

    • @techgeeks1009
      @techgeeks1009 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry it is the Y axis. It is the cross-slide installation. So it is horizontal and the big surface(with black plastic) is on top. I cut 70% mainly alu and brass and 30% silver steel.

      same here, that's why i say that stupid think, with Z1 axis i think z axis on spindle, that machin got one z where you can lift up and down entire machine, with a motor handle and everything, and than you can lift up and down also just a spindle (like for drilling) well on that axis is already original dro, you can see it on 6:07
