Symphony for the Devil is a live DVD by Type O Negative released on March 14, 2006. It is a video of a live concert at the Bizarre Festival in 1999, with a behind-the-scenes look at Type O Negative, an interview with the band, commentary, biographies of the band members and a collection of photographs.
The DVD was recorded on Sunday August 22, 1999, at the 12th Bizarre Festival in Cologne, Germany. This gig was originally recorded for a German live-in-concert program, WDR Rockpalast, and broadcast on German television. The band bought the live footage because it seemed to be the best one available to date regardless of the previous TV releases. Twelve cameras were used. The DVD does not have the performances of the cover songs "Back in the USSR" and "Day Tripper Medley" that were part of the live show and TV broadcast.

I did them in the late 90s at the (old) Masquerade (an old mill) in Atlanta, but to let you know, this is an awesome concert by them. So put it up on a big screen TV, hook it up to a sound system (cuz fuk TV speakers) and crank it
Don't feel too bad man, I beat you to the planet by 4 years and straight up missed the dead again tour because of a lack of funds. After the dead again tour I checked the website every day to see nothing and then that awful day came 14 years ago. In some ways having the opportunity and missing it hurts worse than knowing you never had a chance to begin with

I always find myself delving back into type o every holiday season, starting before Halloween and going through Christmas. It just fits for me. What a legendary band that will NEVER die! Rip Peter. I'm so glad I got the chance to see them live. Saw them at the masquerade in Atlanta about 2006, something like that. It's a small venue, so it was really cool being so close to the stage. I could tell Peter was having his struggles then pretty heavily. He was slamming red wine from the bottle all night and a little sloppy, but it didn't matter in how freaking awesome it was.
This is exactly what my friend and I have done for years. We both think that October Rust in particular is such a strong record beginning in October and through December. So cool to hear that someone else does this.
@@dcfaithfulOctober Rust goes on as soon as fall hits and stays on until late February. I’ve done this every year since its release.
Same for me. Slowly creeps in with a song here and there but then it becomes the entire discography around mid September.

The breakdown on "In Praise of Baccus" is so emotional. The synth and Pete whispering "she said...burn...together." Then the rest of the band kicks in! It's always been my favorite.

I know that Peter used to say that he and the guys didn't know how to play their instruments (lol), that he did not take the band serious at the beginning and all, but damn... No way to deny that he had such a PARTICULAR approach to the bass. So it wasn't only his presence and voice. It was his bass playing too.
