It has been wonderful fodder for ongoing comedy among these panel shows. And it seems that he always handles it very well with the initial look of perhaps shock and embarrassment , then slight derision, and then a good old fuck you.
I think Jimmy Carr just looked nervous or anxious a lot back then. He seems a lot more comfortable these days, but maybe he used to have some stage fright. A lot of panel show people are just doing extreme overblown versions of their actual personalities. He is deadpan in real life and not a big laugher then amplifies that part of his personality to 1000% for comedic effect for the shows.
If you catch an outtake or a glimpse of him enjoying his own or someone else’s comedy and he’s cracking up, it is like a rare blessing. The man is a genius, yet evokes such compassion as if he suffers tremendously due to such high intelligence 😆♥️
I believe Richard just displays his actual personality when on panel shows while also having the freedom to improvise and constantly dropping gold on his own terms. If you do want to catch a brief glimpse of Richard breaking, an great example is BFQ 2015 and the 'bad dong' incident where there's a brief moment of Greg Davies again trying to gather himself after crying laughing and as the attention is mainly on Greg, you can clearly see Richard almost erupting right next to him.
