    A fair few comments are kicking up a fuss re 13:42, where Richard Aoyade springs a tax-dodging joke on Jimmy Carr. Others here are commenting "omg look at Jimmy, he's squirming! Ayoade knew about the tax-dodging!"
    Really? Nah, I can't buy it. Jimmy's reaction doesn't strike me as that nervous. I'm not totally ruling it out, but his reaction doesn't seem that abnormal to me. When the scandal broke a year after this, in 2011, Jimmy's rationale for all his tax-dodging in the first place was: "A few years back, my accountant asked me if I wanted to legally pay less tax. I said sure, and that was it. I completely forgot about it until two days ago when I found my name splashed across every newspaper. Up 'til that point, I'd given the entire scheme barely two seconds thought."
    I could buy that. I doubt Richard mentioning tax-dodging even jogged Jimmy's memory.

      I think Jimmy Carr just looked nervous or anxious a lot back then. He seems a lot more comfortable these days, but maybe he used to have some stage fright.
      People assume that performers all love being the centre of attention, but lots of people just like making people laugh or realise they're good at it and have to confront it every time they're on stage.
      I have no idea if he actually does have stage fright, but I agree that he didn't seem worried about Ayoade's tax joke.

    Sorry, this will be an odd question… I’m from the US and have limited access to UK entertainment, but The Big Fat Quiz shows are a favorite of mine and Richard Ayoade is always brilliant. Does anybody know if stays in character for the entire show? I’ve seen outtakes from the IT crowd & he will laugh. But I have yet to see him break character on the BFQ. Not breaking character is what makes me like him so much. He comes across as so serious - despite saying ridiculously comical things. And just when you think he will “lose it”, the camera cuts to another panel member that is laughing hysterically. It seems as though that is planned. It’s as if they want to maintain the serious composure. And finally… I warned you this was an odd question.

      A lot of panel show people are just doing extreme overblown versions of their actual personalities. He is deadpan in real life and not a big laugher then amplifies that part of his personality to 1000% for comedic effect for the shows.

      If you catch an outtake or a glimpse of him enjoying his own or someone else’s comedy and he’s cracking up, it is like a rare blessing. The man is a genius, yet evokes such compassion as if he suffers tremendously due to such high intelligence 😆♥️

    • @trash_chan
      @trash_chan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I believe Richard just displays his actual personality when on panel shows while also having the freedom to improvise and constantly dropping gold on his own terms. When it comes to the IT Crowd, he is somewhat like Moss, just a bit more absurd and with less control over the comedic material.
      If you do want to catch a brief glimpse of Richard breaking, an great example is BFQ 2015 and the 'bad dong' incident where there's a brief moment of Greg Davies again trying to gather himself after crying laughing and as the attention is mainly on Greg, you can clearly see Richard almost erupting right next to him. It's great.

    So, who was it at one hour twenty that publicly groped three men on camera, seemingly against their will?
    That was suuuper creepy.
    Men get sexually assaulted too and there is so much stigma around a man complaining about it. Maybe they are all friends or whatever, idk, but it was a little unsettling to watch.
    I hope it was just for laughs and agreed upon beforehand.

    What was the reason the people in Chester, Sheffield and Hackney, were angry on polling day? I feel like they never answered it. I guess it was something a politician said. I really never get half the references, being a ``yank.'' or maybe the gal who said the closing of the booths was correct. I feel like Noel and Richard completely derailed it, sending everyone down the road of swapping animal stories.

    • @tonyrae86
      @tonyrae86 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because they closed the booths. Jimmy says "yah" quickly after Alan and Michael give their answer and at 43:00 you can see the check mark by their answer.
