I am 53 yo Japanese man with two children. I quit job when I was 35, became a freelancer. But it was hard and back to an employee at 45. I quit again at 50 and transferred to the US as an employee at Japanese affiliated company. Last year I got depressed and had heavily bad days as hell for 18 months. Now I just recovered and back to job but I'm afraid of a relapse, so I avoid working long hours and try to go home I never expected this to happen, and I don't know what will happen from now on. Please be kind to yourself just as you cherish your children and wife. You are doing very well. Praise yourself. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for sharing your story - I'm really glad to hear that you have recovered 🙏 my wife is diagnosed with a chronic fibromyalgia and relapse management is very important. Please do take care of yourself brother!
I am 54. I was made redundant by company when i was 30. I started a small business soon after that and the business is still a small business today as i am not brave enough to expand the business I am not rich, and not poor neither. I plan to sell my big house and some other assets and move to my small house . Everyone has different story. Please stay positive and healthy. God bless you.
I’m 62 and did the same thing at 50 and on 3rd marriage! Started a small business at 55 and it’s booming! It’s never too late bro! You have to keep pivoting and keep moving forward! Faith in yourself is so critical! From one minority to another, keep swinging! Reach out if you want advice! Blessings Coach G
This is the awesome real life story we all want to hear! Thanks so much for sharing and showing there is a future possible in this path - and one day, would be dope to shoot some hoops too ✌
I wish your story can be more heard. I'd wish you'd be a guest on finance channels like BiggerPockets Money and you can share your story there to inspire many 30s, 40s, and 50s of your business success
@@foftylife anytime bro! So check this out! I was just featured on the news and did an event with a Hall of Fame NBA player!! So u have to keep going! Doors will open watch! Halla at me anytime! Coach G
When I was laid off at 37, I decided to pursue an online business, but it didn't work. I came back to corporate at 42, and now I'm doing side projects. Once one takes off, I'll quit my job and will be solo for good.
Awesome - that's the spirit! The fact that you haven't changed your destination despite the online business not working is a testament to your commitment and steadfastness to your goal. I applaud you.
Thanks so much! I’m really no hero, I’m just another one of us trying to figure out if there is a better way 🙏🏻 I hope I will be able to find and share it 🤞🏼
Worked all my life for big businesses - you become institutionalised after a while. Startup at 55. It’s hard work but have faith in yourself. You’ve got this.
The people often says "i failed" just because the money wasn't enough or even lost money, but the growth of doing it and becoming a different breed is an internal gain that doesn't get recognition, but it is too powerful
I'm now 64. I came out of Covid flat, broke, also with a family to support. I made a decision to start a company to tackle housing. We have 1 life ... a very fragile life, and in the great scheme of things we all know we're dust at some point. I took a small inheritance from my father to start a new company focused on housing. I have no retirement plan, I rent, am 200k in debt ... did I make bad decisions, yes, but I started this company because I believe in what I'm doing ... and know one knows how things will turn out. Thanks for this video. There is clearly an audience for your message. We should start a Podcast on older people doing startups
No other soul in this universe can make decisions for you except yourself, and that is an incredibly underrated power we posses. Belief in what we do is a critical component of success, and closely linked to what life is all about. Thanks for sharing your story, there truly are a lot of people - much more than I thought - in similar boats. Perhaps I should invite guests from time to time to share and discuss their journeys on the channel? Hmm...
I am a Singaporean university kid and I just want to say I love Been Inc. and what it stood for! I wrote a research paper on monetising personal data and for everyday users to take the power back, and I used your startup as an example. I got an A for it! Thanks for the inspiration and at least trying to make businesses that create impact for everyday people.
This totally made my day! When you fight the good fight, and you believe you will be on the right side of history, hearing unexpected outcomes like this is priceless - thanks so much for sharing. I'd like to hear more about your research, connect with me at sang@fofty.net ✌
The amazing thing scientists have uncovered is how much more lifestyle matters than genetics, and the development of new fields of science dedicated to this discovery, from epigenetics to multi-omics all around gene expression, RNA - I'm still an advisor to an early stage biotech and healthtech investor and the stuff I see at the cutting edge is pretty amazing.
@@luckylanno What are you gonna be doing after 65 though? Life's not going to be very active at that time. Sure, you can live to 100, but you're barely living in those old years.
I really like the fact that you are honest about your struggles and you have the courage to face them. I am sick of all these self absorbed influencers posting their fake success stories. People need to see more real people. Keep up the good work. Subscribed
My hope is to help as many people out there as possible who may be in a similar situation - and the best way I think I can do that is to just show what happens so people know they're not alone. Thanks so much for your support!
@@foftylife I am a software engineer myself, in my 40s having many similar thoughts like you have. Watching your video was really refreshing and made my day better. This is the hard reality content that you don't see on TH-cam often. Taking real risks with no safety net and no going back to start your own company sounds incredibly hard. Hopefully, you make it through the tough feelings and come out on top. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much - it sure wasn't easy to talk about these things, especially when I know past coworkers will have their own thoughts and opinions about what I have chosen to do when they see this. My wish is that this content helps others out there by making them realize, they are not alone 🙏
Just about the whole world and everyone in it is really in a state of damage control now. The greed is out of control, the inflation, the sadness & stress, the lack of direction or ideas or headroom for risk, all of it. It's incredibly sad and it's genuinely all one giant sinking ship. This isn't a pessimistic view, it's just the way it is. What can and should we all do?
OMG man! You are telling my exact story! Same age, same situation, same worries. Only difference is that my children are older than yours and that I have a lot of dept. I actually thought that I was the only one in the world with that situation!
I believe you're right! I only hope to get more of us together and start sharing our stories - I've put together a discord server. Let me know if you want to join sang@fofty.net

I just left my corporate job 3 months ago to do my startup. If you wanna catch up over coffee to share experiences, I'm more than happy to. Sometimes, it's not only scary, it's downright lonely seeing your friends and family marching ahead with their corporate ladder climb. It helps to have a friend in this.
Thanks so much Kenny - really appreciate it. I've been setting a up Discord FoFty group for people like us, and meetup for walks every so often at the Botanical Garders... hit me up if you want to drop by, cheers!
Building something that you keep working on to 80 and 90 is an amazing idea. Wow I’m very impressed about your decision. You are an entrepreneur at the core. Please read 50th law by Robert Greene. will help you lot in this situation. Please read it alot of gulden nuggets😊
Building your own thing will be for sure worth all the stress and hard work. Trust me I know - please find enjoyment from the experience though and don't focus on the destination! We old farts have got this! :)
You keep doing you, Bro. As a 45 year old with a 5-and 2-year old (and an at-best average career while going into entrepreneurship now) - I can relate. So your input will be most valuable to us, and I thank you for opening up to us in the public domain. “You can’t let the worry own you” - that’s one I’m keeping for myself and for my kids. Thanks for posting this video and sharing your current experience. ❤ I'm 44 and you brought some questions regarding parenting age and responsibilities I hadn't thought about in that way.
I just turned 51, I was laid off from IBM after 13 years, but quickly found a sys analyst job at a local hospital, paid off my mortgage 3 months ago.... Every pay period I save 50% of my take home pay, I want to work until I am between 67-70.... Its so nice not having a ton of bills.
My African dad came back to the United States at 50. When he was younger he had gotten a degree in electrical engineering and an MBA. He started driving a cab to get the start up capital to start a small tabaco store. It was successful and that store put me through college. Make sure you business isn't a vanity business and look at the way AI can compete with it moving forward, and be ruthless about making it in to a reality.
I applaud you for sharing where you are. Many of us men are afraid to share what we're going through for fear of backlash. Worry keeps you awake at night, it's a silent killer that many of us are held hostage. Keep trying and never surrender. Do it not only for yourself but also for your wife and kids.
Appreciate the support - you called out the whole point of sharing the journey on YT.. it's still uncomfortable for me to do so, but I see the positive impact overall in the comments, making me want to continue 👌

Thank you for the support! And you are absolutely right - health, both physical and mental is so underrated, even if it becomes more and more important as we grow older.
Man, kudos to you. I am 51 this year and have painstakingly reentered into the corporate world (faced multiple agism) in my 40s after more than 20 years as a freelancer. At my present age, I can never have the courage to do what you are doing now. To me, stability towards my retirement is more important than any other thing else. I wished you all the best!!
Thanks for the kudos! Everyone has a different configuration - we all have lived different lives, so there is no "one way" for all... all I can do is share my journey and hope it helps with the configuration of other people's lives - all the best!
Thank you for sharing your journey! Many walk the same path, better to do what you love vs working a 9-5 you hate. Never live with regrets and continue to push ahead and always keep looking up, bro!
Thanks for checking it out! Yes, you know, there comes a point where accumulating through "9-5" is enough... we all should recognize when our "enough" is and move on!
Bro i am glad to heard I am not alone with this. We all have these self doubts when starting something new. Biking, walking, hiking and the gym help me rezone and get focused. If you have done it once you can do it again! I know you've got this bro. Somedays you feel on top of the world, other days you have these feeling of self doubt. The mind is a powerful muscle. it sound like you have a goof 50 years left in you if your dad is 90 right now. There are no mistakes you did what you felt you need to do. you are learning a lot about what to do and what not to do. Everyone is going to call you crazy for trying until one day everything flips then they will becoming to you and asking how you did it. I like to remind myself it is like walking or riding a bike, we might not get it the first time, yet if we try over and over again with slight improvements and integrations we are bound to make it happen. I have a feeling you have a skill you have learned this is like any other skill. It may be a bit different and me as a 28M has not lived as long as you. i can tell you it is not a mistake. This is the best choice you could have made and sure you give all these reason why it won't work. What about starting to give reason about how it will work?
Thanks so much for the wise words - you seem to have experience as well, stay strong my friend. The ups and downs are like riding the waves of the open ocean but we never lose sight of the island in the distance! 💪
I feel you brother. I'm 54 yo from Indonesia and i also have the same situation with you, going to quit my 20 years job as i'm not competent anymore for the company. Very stressful at this kind situation of the age's obstacle
In my late 20s I was running my own solo operation, but realized that knowledge and passion are not enough, you also need luck. I had all of that, but I still didn’t like the uncertainty of not having a regular paycheck. It gave me so much stress that I quit and got a corporate job instead. It was a good decision for me - was able to start retirement savings, was grandfathered into a pension benefit, will get a good social security later on, was able to see lots of the world on company dime. I basically exchanged the possibility of making it big on my own for security. I am okay with that.
I also continue with shitty corporate work and was able to build my investment fund which will take me to retirement early. I can't wait to quit this crazy grind.
Following your dream is never a mistake, thats why i started workers in FOCUS, so we can all follow our dreams and at the same time we can create jobs that are meaningful. It may be hard but life is life and if you did not even try it is a wasted life.
(just a brain dump here, sorry if long-winded) Careful, though. Dreams are a "false reality" until something can be constructed to make them real. Look at the long line of those signing up for American Idol tryouts. Tens of thousands of "hopeful singers". My dream was to build a successful career in a higher-demand job environment (IT) which let me build a family. It sucked - badly. It paid all the bills and kept us in a home, etc. If I followed my dreams, I might not have survived or would have had to rely on parents my whole life (the ones who didn't follow their dreams). A lot of people think they are good at some fine arts but end up not selling any art or getting hired into an arts system. Musicians can noodle all day and thing it's good but nobody wants to necessarily dance to it. Get a good job - and THEN get fun hobbies. That's following a dream that has a high-probability of success. I knew a guy at one project I worked at - really long hair. Was a metal guitarist but working at Fannie Mae in Washington DC in their IT department. His dream of being in the band was fed by his ability to be a project manager in an office job.
i’m a solopreneur since some years ago, after years squeezing my job and side-hustleling. i feel better solopreneuring than sidehusteling, it’s hard to take-off, but at least i feel focused. Side-hustleing was a nightmare. Faith!

Saaaame!!! I am co-founder and CTO of a space startup and a potential investor was concerned that I’m not going to be able to leave my well-paid W2 job to be full-time with the startup life. It’s a tough decision. I have a family (wife and 2 kids)! And I’m 38. Subscribed. I’d love to follow your journey mate
Ah man, I've been on both sides of this equation in my past, both as a founder and investor - what I've learned is to not get pressed by an investor into doing something you're not ready for. Kind of pickle you are in. I you'd like to join a Discord server I've setup where we can talk about this, hit me up at sang@fofty.net cheers
You made the right choice. The hardest roads to travel bring the biggest personal rewards. You have opportunity to fail a project and start a new one. Keep going.
I am 57 years old and, like you, I have a child to care for. My daughter was born when I was fifty. I am currently working my fifth job in a country where I am an immigrant. I often worry, just as you do. However, three things keep me determined and strong every day: the support of the Lord, who knows I am sincere; my daughter's smile, which lifts my spirits when I am stressed; and my passion for my work, where I constantly strive to improve. Please have confidence. God always stands firmly beside sincere, dedicated men.
I can feel the worry in you and that resonances with me quite a bit. To me the nervousness that comes with working cooperate jobs where you life depends on the economy and there is always a possibility of having to uprooting you family for a new job in a new location can create a lot of anxiety and worry. Something I still need to work through myself. At some point I hope to be able to flip that narrative…to take root and break free. Always thought of you as someone who has already crossed into the dream land and I was completely wrong. You are very brave and inspiring. Thanks for sharing man. ❤
You know, I used to think that way too... that there were these people who have crossed into the dream but I'm here to tell you that at least for me, it's always the same. There are always these obstacles that you have to find a smart way around and eventually break free! It reminds me of Michael Jackson who said he always had stage fright no matter how many times he performed in front of hundred of thousands of people - I used to think people like him could just go on stage unfazed. Keep at it, and we'll get there.
Sang Shin, thanks for being vulnerable and honest in this journey. I am a Chinese, 37 this year and also just left my high paying corporate job in tech job to become a corporate trainer in communication skills with no client base or whatsoever before I quit due to different reasons. My two kids are also around 3 and 5. Not easy as I am starting solo and new. Although I am probably 13 years younger than you, I do feel the same pressure from family and from a financial perspective. Today is father's day and it reminds me of the role model that my dad demonstrated to me (starting from a fishing village, being cheated of his insurance money), he always managed to find a way. If the hawker noodle seller that is near to my house could afford to send their kid to the UK to further their studies, I believe we will have grit to overcome these challenges. I am rooting for you and will be clapping for your achievement until it's my turn, Sang Shin.
Inspiring story about your father, speaking of which, happy Father’s Day! I’ve setup a Discord server for people on the journey who are committed to FoFty - let me know if you want to join us👌🏼
I've setup a small community of people with similar values and journeys... people in SG who are interested to join can come to one of the walks I have at the Botanic Gardens to intro and then if we are aligned can then join the Discord server... having learned from building another community that was open to all and grew too quick for its own good, placing care in ensuring people with aligned values and interests is something I value this time around
I’m 28. I quit my job to start my own freelancing business and moved to Thailand…to say I’m scared is an understatement. But man - you just have to take this risk. Genuine good advice, but the Rich Dad Poor Dad recommendation is an exception. The writer is borderline snake oil salesman, read up on him and you will see. But otherwise, great advice.
People underestimate how difficult a path creators, especially YT creators go through... I have gained a lot of respect for them after trying it out myself! I’m in the same boat as you. Except I’m 37. Sometimes you have to go all in and have no saftey nets. The world needs dedicated problem solvers. Not sure if it will work out in the end but at least God knows we’re trying.
You know, I've learned that there really isn't an age delimiter in terms of years - after meeting and talking with people, we go through similar moments at any age... early-year crisis -> mid-year crisis -> late-year crisis, just different variants of the same thing. What we can do is come together to help each other out, thanks so much for dropping by!
I'm not as experienced as you are. I'm still 34, just pivoting to freelancing & trying to network, building my portfolio & business around what I worked on. Hearing what you've been through, you have take lots of hard decisions, and respect for that. Thank you for sharing. I hope your sharing will reaffirm your own decisions and open opportunities ahead that'll clear your runway and launch your business. Godspeed.
Every month I try to allocate a portion of my income into high yield investments. But I’m curious, how feasible is it to make my yearly salary in just one month without jeopardizing my portfolio
It’s definitely possible but extremely risky. You’d have to dive into high risk, high reward investments like cryptocurrencies or penny stocks. The current state of the US economy, with its volatility makes it even riskier
I tried something similar last year and ended up losing a significant amount of my portfolio. With inflation and market fluctuations it’s better to stick with more stable investment unless you have a solid backup plan and can afford potential losses
My portfolio took a hit when I attempted aggressive trading strategies. Now I’m more conservative, focusing on long term growth and capital preservation
You’re not doing anything wrong, the problem is that you don’t have the knowledge needed to succeed in a challenging market. Only high qualified professionals who had experienced the 2008 financial crisis could help to earn a high in these challenging conditions
Recently, I've been considering the possibility of speaking with consultants. I need guidance because I'm an adult, but I'm not sure if their services would be all that helpful
My advice is to not quit without concrete plans, and reality bites that we need a pragmatic solution to be financially interdependent. The job is to pay our bills, period. If you have other side hustles, it would be good to have that secondary income or passive income (as some have coined it). That would be a bonus. However, there are too many myths about being an entrepreneur and calling people to start that dream. Hey, who will pay the bills for us? We foot the bill and have to bring food to the table for the family. But if you quit or resign from your job, there's no turning back. You either get back on a paycheck and push yourself (entrepreneur pursuit) to make it until you make it somehow. Good luck!
Very sound advice - I do have savings and various alternate incomes streams, both active and passive. That math calculated where risk was manageable for me in my setup - but yet, there are always some days such as the one when I recorded this video and I wanted to share it as it is part of the reality of the journey. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Sang, I’m thinking exactly the same as yours~~~ to use my next 10 years to build my thing. Huge risk but I don’t wanna regret!!!! Nice one mate! Fighting!!!!!

Just subbed your channel! I'm fifty as well. I don't feel old. Thanks for sharing your story. It is scary to lose steady income but now you are happy and live your full potential. Quit the Matrix!
Thanks for sharing. Just know you are not alone. Most men with families share the same feelings of insecurities due to finance and responsibility. What helps me is to focus on the positives. Having no debt is better than most people!
Thank you for the support and reminder to focus on the positive - it really does help to know that there are many others out there, and to hear from them!
@@foftylife Thanks, I think this is a lesson for those that are young in their career. We need to appreciate what we have and know others are not as fortunate to have a job. Evan at my age, I will only quit if they fire me.
Follow your heart and ALWAYS chase your dreams. Don't listen to and stay away from the naysayers... Just keep on keeping on. Many/most super-successful entrepreneurs go through very hard and even BRUTAL stretches b4 they hit the success they desire. You look amazingly young for your age and healthy... and health IS wealth. Also, I worry a lot less about my debt and other "scary failure" issues now that I take 4 minute cold showers 2 times a day. It somehow makes you feel more energetic and more optimistic and I've seen many folks say the same - so that is why I've also started doing it and I can say YES, it DEFINITELY has been a gamechanger from a mental standpoint. I've cut out all coffee and Vietnames Ice Coffees (which I love and was addicted to) and I've cut out all extra sugar and this typically makes me feel BLAH and/or depressed... but the cold showers have somehow solved it all so you may want to take a look into this practice. Either way, this video of yours is BLOWING UP and you will be seeing much success in the near future - I am certain. Go Get It!👍
Vietnamese coffee is a mega-shot to the mind! Thanks so much for the encouragement and sharing of what worked for you. I did a stretch of cold showers here in Singapore and it did help me too... but sadly the water doesn't get cold enough and I'm not investing in one of those ice buckets things :)
0:58 ageism may be real, but you objectively could pass as 36! 2:15 you're gassing yourself up, G. You're not a slice of bread that gets moldy after it's expiration date. If you cancelled your home insurance, emptied your bank account into your living room, and burned it all down tonight, you could still grind another 12+- years in corporate to build an entirely new financial life. I don't recommend it, but even then life wouldn't be over. Chin up, and don't forget to get some fresh air. You've got this, G.
@@foftylife Happy I could help! If you make a slight shift in how you frame the situation, all of the sudden you “exerted the courage to take a hiatus and explore a deeply personal project”! If anything, IMO, this should work to counteract the “old guy is getting useless” concern :)
That is sage advice, I'm just demonstrating the reality is that the "something" that will make you happy is also laden with moments of fear and anxiety - it's never a straight shot to nirvana.
I really not sure... I wasn't very happy in my role, and I had nothing to replace it. The moment I decided to leave I felt free as a bird, like the world was my oyster
You'll never start a successful business unless you quit your job. Either all out, or nothing. Job is job. Business is like a child. Treat it as a child.
@@Jhfrbcf while i've met entrepreneurs who have started successful businesses "on the side," i have never met anyone who succeeded by continuing to do it on side✌

Hope this finds you well, both body and mind. I have been through what you have described. You have all these stresses… you always had them, but a job let you forget them. It’s time to give yourself a break. Let this video serve as your marker for acknowledging all the stress.. the barriers the friction. But unless you can free yourself from them, you won’t be able to put 100% into your own business. Speak to your family to acknowledge their stresses. Set yourself a time limit for the new work. Then, it’s time to put all that stress to work and start solving the problem you business is set up to solve. You have create or process and solution the minimal product someone will pay for. Get out there and sell it. You need to be excited about this business not stressed otherwise you have just replaced one work stress with another.
I can relate to your situation. I’m 44 years old, and from what I can tell, you are experiencing doubt. However, it’s okay. Just keep doing what you're doing, and it won't last long.
Enjoyed listening to you. I'm 54 and and at a crossroads in life. I'm tired of working for other people...actually I find it almost intolerable at this stage. I kind of know what I really want to do...and I've reached a point now where I'm thinking...Now I'm going to do the things I want to do! I'm not going to be around forever, none of us will be. I'm not rich. I'm not even well off, but I've done my time with Bosses. Now I'm the boss, and I've never felt more motivated and more alive. All the best, and good luck to everybody here!
Awesome, way to take control of your life! In coming episodes, I'll be sharing the why, how, and what of me leaving corporate life - hopefully what I share there will help you with your own journey. All the best!
Your video was suggested to me. I listened to you and also read the comments. You seem to be a rational thinker and have decided to travel your own path to support others. I believe in you. At 50 you have enough life experience and discipline to be successful. I havr been an entrepreneur since I was 17 although I worked for others during that time. But the last 10yrs I have been working for myself and my story has major similarities. Thank you for sharing how you think. Forbes and Bloomberg don't come close enough with telling what happens to the majority on tech entrepreneurs and their real struggles or achievements. Hang in there, go for it, no looking back, strategize and plan every chance you get and purpose to win!
Thanks for checking out the video and comments - being an entrepreneur since 17 is a very unique path! Media portrays perspectives to maximize profits, leading to skewed realities and perceptions.. this is where platforms like TH-cam can come into play where it surfaces content from the grassroots, and I'm just trying to add my share to the reality of what really goes on, both good and bad 🙏 thanks for your encouragement, and if you ever want to join a few others on similar paths, i've put together a small discord - email me at sang@fofty.net if you'd like to join us
It's not just about building or doing something long term only, finding the right buyer of products or services is also essential and where the pain is. Once cash flow is figured out things start working fine... appreciate your content , hits right on point
Thanks for the support! In my case the startup is about the FoFty way of living which I’m trying to show works by actually doing what I preach.. and hopefully build an audience while doing it. Whatever happens, I’m fully committed!
Now I just recovered and back to job but I'm afraid of a relapse, so I avoid working long hours and try to go home
I never expected this to happen, and I don't know what will happen from now on.
Please be kind to yourself just as you cherish your children and wife.

I am 48, had a couple failures in running my own business, currently have a stable job but I know I want to start my business one day again…
Hmm...
i hope it will be turn out fine for both of you. Wish u all best of luck.

@kayflip2233 It's lifestyle dependent, along with genetic factors. A lot of people don't become seriously debilitated until their 80s now.

Just about the whole world and everyone in it is really in a state of damage control now. The greed is out of control, the inflation, the sadness & stress, the lack of direction or ideas or headroom for risk, all of it. It's incredibly sad and it's genuinely all one giant sinking ship. This is the reason why I decided to build FoFty, a way to factory reset yourself according to a new philosophy on living life.

There are no mistakes you did what you felt you need to do. you are learning a lot about what to do and what not to do. Everyone is going to call you crazy for trying until one day everything flips then they will becoming to you and asking how you did it.

Thank you for this. ur not just speaking to those ur age, but also to others 20years younger :)
That's so heartening to hear, we're all just at different stages of the same journey - thanks!
Love your courage and fortitude, I salute you!

I’ve setup a Discord server for people on the journey who are committed to FoFty - let me know if you want to join us👌🏼
@@foftylife What is this Discord server and how to join?
I've setup a small community of people with similar values and journeys... people in SG who are interested to join can come to one of the walks I have at the Botanic Gardens to intro and then if we are aligned can then join the Discord server... having learned from building another community that was open to all and grew too quick for its own good, placing care in ensuring people with aligned values and interests is something I value this time around
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.Stop worrying and enjoy the ride.

I’m 28. I quit my job to start my own freelancing business and moved to Thailand…to say I’m scared is an understatement. But man - you just have to take this risk. Sure, you can play it safe and live the rest of your life in regret. But why? We only have one life.
You’re not alone man. You can do this. It won’t be easy. You will have to make sacrifices. But it is possible.
You have a lot of runway left my man, many opportunities to learn and go upwards - keep at it!
im 22 yo CTO moved out to Vietnam. Been fired from my job
Most of my life I was making FinTech and LawTech software(insurance, debt collection, asset management, high-end business optimisation) and currently im making my own project
Scared ash cuz I have enough saving for few years but no so much to spend on business and have no will to work another job since last time I was betrayed for stocks and bonus(about 50-100k usd)
He has family to sustain though…
I’m in the very same boat as you - I’ve started again too many times - got divorced - emigrated 5 years ago. I’m in a stable programming job - but the path is not going to help me retired comfortably. I’m looking at breaking away somehow and starting on my own. I turned 50 this year, have three daughters and my youngest is 7. Watching your video is like watching myself talking! You’re definitely not alone , Crazy bro
Wow, it amazes me how many of us are out there in similar situations! Thanks for sharing your setup - I gathered us together in a Discord server. Email me at sang@fofty.net if you’d like to join us.👌🏼
Stoicism: Focus on what’s in your control. Stopp worrying whats not under your control
Not under your control
1: Ageing is not under your control
2: Other people
3: What other people think about you
4: society
5: the market
6: world politics
7: local politics
What’s under your control:
1: who you chose to have in your life ( you can get a new partner, or choose to stay single)
2: your attitude
3: the time you spend educating your self on money ( investing, taxplanning, read rich dad poor dad)
4: takeing care of your health ( stopp eating junk food, smokeing, alcohol)
5: Accept that anxiety is a part of life
6: accept death as a fact of life. Don’t drift into a cult or astrology/strange religion
7: take accountabillity for your social skills. Learn « networking skills», be the guy that smiles
8: learn some basic selling/negotiation skills. Learn to ask for discounts on EVERY deal you buy
9: Accept that you are a avarage man, you need to grind on every one of these skills every day, after 4-6 years you will have improved alot.
Excellent advice, many thanks for sharing!
What a great write up! Thanks for sharing this.
Genuine good advice, but the Rich Dad Poor Dad recommendation is an exception. The writer is borderline snake oil salesman, read up on him and you will see. But otherwise, great advice.
This is such an amazing channel please keep uploading

@@foftylifeno problem! Commenting from other channel
Nice video and something that resonates with a lot of creators!
People underestimate how difficult a path creators, especially YT creators go through... I have gained a lot of respect for them after trying it out myself! I shared my thoughts on this over here.... and I'm coming from having created and invested startups in my past:
www.linkedin.com/posts/sangyshin_foftylife-activity-7142319281425330176-Ni7Z
Hey man, your the coolest guy ive met today, big respect to you.
Thanks for the uplift!!
I'm sure you are pretty cool too 🎉
I’m in the same boat as you.
@@foftylife I agree. Each one of us is having our own human experience let’s enjoy the ride!
Godspeed.
Thanks for the support - you're doing the right thing in building and accumulating, you have much time!
Cheers Buddy! I am confident you have made all the necessary preparations to overcome the temporary obstacle.
Thanks so much Dave!

A great spin-off of the mega hit "I'm 50 years old Japanese man".
That guy is awesome 👏🏼
Thanks for sharing. Just know you are not alone. Most men with families share the same feelings of insecurities due to finance and responsibility. What helps me is to focus on the positives. Having no debt is better than most people!
Thank you for the support and reminder to focus on the positive - it really does help to know that there are many others out there, and to hear from them!
I’m turning 62 this September and still hanging in a corporate job. My tip is to hang tough and never quit.
There are many paths and I'm glad to hear your path is working out well for you - all the best!
@@foftylife Thanks, I think this is a lesson for those that are young in their career. We need to appreciate what we have and know others are not as fortunate to have a job. Evan at my age, I will only quit if they fire me.
Reaching out tot he younger generation with the good word is part of what I hope to achieve 🙏🏻
Go Get It!👍
Our success is by helping others. Thanks so much for your detailed comment and support 🎉
Way to inspire people, I just got the tingles! You're absolutely right, and your positive attitude is strong and contagious - thank you so much!
@@foftylife Happy I could help!
If you make a slight shift in how you frame the situation, all of the sudden you “exerted the courage to take a hiatus and explore a deeply personal project”!
If anything, IMO, this should work to counteract the “old guy is getting useless” concern :)
Great points! Fresh air and exercise so you don’t go crazy!
I can relate to your story ( being 50 with young kids) I have never started a business. I wish you all the best
Thank you for the well wishes!
Never quit a job unless you have something to replace it with that will make you happy.

Thank you very much for the support!
Thank you for your advice - these are wise words. I am working on them, and in coming episodes will share more about how it's progressing. ✌
I can relate to your situation. I’m 44 years old, and from what I can tell, you are experiencing doubt. However, it’s okay. Just keep doing what you're doing, and it won't last long.
Thank you for the support! Being able to relate both on the upswings, but also on the downswings is immensely powerful 💪

Thanks a lot for the support and I hope more content like this emerges from others in similar setups, it can help many out there
Your video was suggested to me.
