- Best way to catch a fish? AT NIGHT! Here we go on the hunt for the Aiptasia Eating Filefish at nightm hoping for an easy catch. We also fragged back the Goldenrod Anacropora (yes, again.), and tried the Neat Aquatics Limpet Wide Flow Anemone Guard for the Ecotech Vortech MP40!

why do you feed them during the day instead of at night when the fish are asleep so the fish don't come after the food?
You know... good question and I'm having a "Duh" moment. At night I only see certain corals extend their feeder tentacles, like the Space Invader Pectinia; while other corals like Torch shrink and some Zoas close up. But you're right, I think corals tend to feed at night, let me try that too and see if that works better. (esp w/ fish being asleep) Thank you!
Use fishing line on the prefrag then cut frag. You should be able to pull frag up.

I really like your background music. Zero dig at Zoa Tank Boys, but that's something of theirs that's started to kind of get on my nerves. Your background music goes on an endless loop and works perfectly, whereas theirs clearly has a start & end and then it loops. And your cut scene music is absolutely perfect.

I’ve got an elegance coral baby that I bought 3 years ago. It looks exactly like the one you have and sits in the same corner. It’s a lot bigger now, and I think you’ll love what you’re about to see it do. Love your videos, my gf speaks Canto and it’s nice to be able to watch it with her.
I am looking forward to see how that Elegance coral develops! I do feel a little bad cramming it into the corner, feels like it deserve it's own spotlight too, especially being a cool natural "split." Will see if there are better spots for this beautiful coral. It has been moved to the back left and back left wall, to make room for a potential zoa garden... although it has now become a mushroom garden (will show you in the next video!)

I've caught my Aiptasia eating filefish with my hand then transfer to net many times haha.
Use some epoxy to fix the bucket, keep the salt in bag in bucket also, but epoxy should keep air/moisture out 😉🥰

You never talked about the Kalkwasser and the C02 scrubber media?? I'm pretty interested on what media to use for C02 scrubber.
Sorry I totally did not! For CO2 scrubbing media I use the 5g jug Soda Lim from shopmedvet.com (let me see if I could link it): www.shopmedvet.com/product/soda-lime-5-gallon-JOR553B/anesthesia-respiratory. For Kalk, I am finishing up the BRS Pharma Grade Kalk and switching over to the food grade Mississippi Lime. The latter I have not personally used yet so cannot really comment too much on, but @telegraham has been using it and is a fan.

I think my saving grace is that I have a de-humidifier a few feet from the tank that I run often... that helps with minor drips. Never had any big accident water-wise *knock-on-wood*
Did you hear about ATI Absolute Ocean!? It is a concentrated liquid 2 part saltwater solution to produce your salt water. As it is a liquid it stays always the same regarding the macro & micro elements. Not sure if it is used in the US!? For me the best way to mix salt water...greetings from Berlin
Interesting, I have not heard of this at all. Thank you for the heads up, I'll look it up and see what it is about... sounds like a very interesting concept though potentially cost a little more? (Figure liquid solution would cost more than the dry form)

have you tried killing all the flow including the return flow so it's easier for the corals to catch?
I have not tried killing the return pump completely (it was set to 1% but the siphon was still going); I'll try that! 👍

What was the food or dosing you feed your coral? I couldn’t catch it. I know you didn’t want to mention the product because it’s expensive. Thx!
Dosing-wise it's the Reef Moonshiner Method. The elements themselves are not too $$, but it's the regular ICP testing that's going to chip away at your wallet. 😢 It does work though, and it makes sense that it would work as it's mainly supplementing trace elements based on ICP results.
Don't worry about the music just talk its better.

Just curious as to if you got a hold of your aiptasia problem? If you did, what ended up working?
I did, Aiptasia Eating Filefish is my silver bullet. I move it between display and refugium depending on where I have an Aiptasia issue. (Currently back into the display)

@@joesanzo7260 I got mine from PetCo; it also lived in the tank for months until one day it decided to eat the Aiptasias. May just need more time 😊 (and feed less)

I could, though I'd let the detritus settle and only add the water back. Figure I may as well use this chance to do a proper water change!
Ok, I have one of those vacs from the Depot & have been reluctant in using it due to it running through the vacuum & then trying to dump back in through the filter socks, let me know if you think that’s ok?

I actually thought halfway through the video that you do a great job with the music choices - however, I’d rather larger quantity of videos with no music than less videos with music..

seems like you are waisting alot of money with that type of water change since you take out 5g a time and you refill the sump and then take out 5g again. after the first bucket out you are taking a high percent of new salt water out
Sorry my editing prob wasn’t clear on it, I actually pulled most of the water from the sump at once (multiple 5g dumps), and add all the water back in once done. And then do 1-2 bucket to clear out anything that floated out during refilling; totally understand your point of pulling 5g and refilling after each time
