The people wanting the next Mario will never consider this to fill the void over an odyssey 2. You don’t seem to understand the brand loyalty and that more people have a switch than a ps5.
I really don't want the next 3D Mario to be an Odyssey sequel. That was the worst 3D Mario by leagues and fathoms imo. The worlds were claustrophobic and it felt like just a collectathon, compared to the other 3D Marios, which felt like something more. Galaxy had more unique and fun levels and powerups. 64 had more unique worlds, secrets, enemy variety, and so on. Odyssey is just a bunch of wall jumping and timed platforming courses only to be "rewarded" with another damned moon. At least 64's rewards weren't just another star, but were also intangible and various. Also, the levels in Odyssey felt so plain and uninspired imo. I sold that game after not being able to stand doing boring platforming trial number 19382920180 just for another damned moon. I did finish it before hand, of course. I remember thinking "That's it?" Then going out to collect more moons before deciding watching paint dry would be more entertaining. Such a disappointment. I won't be buying Odyssey 2.
@PedroMartinez-ri4rj For Astro Bot, obviously. I got my ps5 after borrowing one, and the game I had the most fun with on it was astro bot and that and ratchet and clank were the reason I wanted it.
This is what Sony needs imo. I hope they make smaller titles and the spin off from the big franchises like Uncharted Lost Legacy and Miles Morales to fill in the gap between the blockbusters.
One of the things I love about Astro Bot is how “Nintendo” it is while still leaning really hard into PlayStation iconography. It embraces all of PlayStation history but is cute, fun, colorful, and a platformer. More of this please!!!
I love story-driven games, but trying to play them back-to-back can be exhausting. Games that are easy to pickup and play like Astrobot are more than welcome
Thanks to the astrobot game that came on the ps5, my girlfriend is now into gaming. I showed her the game, she started playing and fell in love with it and figured out how to play games in 3rd person perspective. Then I bought sackboy a big adventure. Again another game she absolutely loved. Now she plays other games like stray and no man's sky. So astrobot will be a day 1 purchase for us. Thank you astrobot and Sony
Astrobot might not be a game with a massive budget, but it is a big game content wise. 80- levels is a *lot* even if they are small. That would make it a lot bigger than Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart content wise and that is from a studio that is used to making bigger games than Asobi.
Astrobot Rescue Mission was the best PSVR game imo. Asobi seems to have taken that same concept and just made it a non VR platformer and I'm all for it. Go Team Asobi!
It is what Sony needs. But the question is.. is it going to sell enough that Sony will allow more games like Astro Bot in the near future? Also.. how much is Astro Bot gonna cost? Is it going to be a 70$ release, or a 50$ release?
@@daysgone2997I’m already seeing people saying they wouldn’t pay $70 for it. Also the only $70 Nintendo game so far is TOTK. No platformers has been $70.

Sony started out on PS1 with Crash Bandicoot as one of its major titles. Crash was even seen as the mascot of Sony back in those days as seen in commercials between Crash, Mario, and Sonic. So as someone who was there back in the day, I’m so happy to see a platformer again. This is also why I love the Ratchet and Clank series so much. So yeah I’m happy to see Astrobot. It was a great pack in demo, and I’m looking forward to a new full fledged game. Now since the crazy thing is Microsoft owns Crash Bandicoot now, I keep hoping for more games in that series. Heck in terms of Microsoft, all I want from them is a Crash game, Banjo Kazooie, and Conker game. Make those and I would be so insanely happy!!
I think Jim Ryan is the Don Mattrick of Sony. He wanted the company to mostly release these cinematic type titles which cost too much to do then had the dumb idea to dumping resources into live service games to which some were canceled. They really need to get back to basics and also stop charging too much.

Sony seeing what Nintendo did, trying to do something different, then deriving new ideas from what they tried that were totally unique, and then going into newer and more niche markets... really is what made the PlayStation 1 blow up and the PlayStation 2 become even bigger. There were so many different kind of PlayStation Studios games that were smaller but felt massive because of how engrossing they were. Crash, Spyro, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo, Sly, Jak & Daxter, God of War, Ratchet & Clank, SOCOM, Killzone, ETC ETC ETC... Sony needs to tap into that era. Having smaller games even at $70 that sell you that and don't try to be the most cutting edge things ever (but do still push technical limits)... that is what made PlayStation PLAYSTATION. Give us that era back Sony, and the positive vibes, lower budgets, lower development times, and better fan reception will come.
Not only that, but buyinf Bungie has proven to be a major error in judgement. That studio is a flop, destroyed their own Destiny IP. Destroyed TLOU MP, which would have been as popular as helldivers 2. Jim Ryan was a fat joke
It's pretty funny how most gamers laughed at Sony for buying Bungie for that amount, because even they knew it was a terrible idea. Even Microsoft passed over buying them, because they asked for too much, and weren't worth it. Bungie is just a name at this point.
@@frankvandermerwe1487 TLOUP MP is kind of a good thing that was destroyed. JIm lost his position mostly for his waste of 1.5 billion dollars on Bungie that seemed like a panic move after Microsoft was buying everything. If you are gonna throw such money to buy something then you better get some good IP's and the only thing Bungie has is Destiny, Halo was left with Microsoft. What is the point to paying so much for just a studio. You can create a new studio with far less money. The Star Citizen guys that create a big studio to make there super big game only got 600 million threw all this years. So Sony certainly didn't need to waste 1.5 billion for what was basically just a studio with no IP's. Also now that Embracer is selling everything half priced Sony should have jumped and bough Tomb Raider IP and others from them.
I love Astro white and I’m so excited for a for a new game from this franchise. I have zero issues with paying full price for this game. I think Sony needs more franchises like Astro bot and sly Cooper and Sackboy ratchet and clank things that are just fun and upbeat
Game prices are up to $70, subscriptions are up also and more widespread, slim PS5 isn't cheaper than OG PS5 and the once exclusives are launching on PC with minimum aditional investment (albeit high quality) ports. I'm not surprised this is their most profitable generation yet.
@jarde1989 Astro was a tech demo, it was designed for you to learn about the controller, it's why it was free and short. It's not a knock, don't take it personal. I'm certain this new one will be longer and be good too, but this show was flaming trash.

Foamstars failed before it was even a year old, a game that already had a successful older brother that they only needed to imitate and have some uniqueness here and there to be distinguished. I'm not hopeful for Concord, because why pay for something new and unknown when Overwatch is right there.
I think $70 is how you ruin the IP. The same ruin that Sly4 has, where the IP is just. . . abandoned for lack of a better term. The most I think they should try to get away with is. . . lets say ~$50 cap.
If they price this single player 3d platformer lower than $70 then gamers won't think it's worth buying. Same thing happened with Sackboy. They need to show them this is an important ip just as important as Spiderman or God of War, otherwise it won't have a future.
@@ganymedehedgehog371 But it's not a new ip. It's had two critically acclaimed games, one of which every PS5 owner owns. It's their chance to build this into a big IP but they gotta treat it as such from the start.
I 100% agree that games like Astro Bot are what Sony/PlayStation needs. I would like it if Sony's release cadence was like what Sega is doing now with Sonic and Like a Dragon. Instead of only releasing bigger budget entries every 5-6 years with a drought in between, release "smaller" titles like Sonic Superstars or Like a Dragon Gaiden to bridge the gap before the next big game. The only caveat to a game like Astro Bot is whether it will sell good enough to warrant more entries in the future. Time will tell!
Astrobot is what they need, its Sony's Mario. Something fun to play instead of serious all the time. We don't need nonstop Overwatch clones, specially when people are even sick of Overwatch itself
I don’t hate open world games, but I feel like the market became oversaturated with them at some point. People just don’t have the time for all these 100+ hour games.
Astrobot will sell but not as well as many think. It’s going to be $70 which will deter many potential buyers. Long-term: it will do great once enough sales come and go.
Let's see: 6 playable galaxies, over 80 levels, over 70 enemies, over 15 abilities, over 100 easter eggs from the 30 years of PlayStation history let's go!!!

Triple A, double A, whatever A. I think most people nowadays simple want to play good games regardless of how amazing the graphics are. One of my favourite games of the past however many years is Streets of Rage 4. One of biggest disappointments… Spider man 2. Im looking forward to Astro immensely. It looks exactly what Sony needs to do more of.
They need to bring back their old IPs. So many gems there-Resistance, Killzone, Syphon Filter, Infamous, Twisted Metal, Motorstorm, Sly, Jak, hell I even love their JRPGs like Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms, Arc the Lad, Folklore, White Knight Chronicles, etc. That’s the Sony I fell in love with. If nothing else, make remastered collections or put that stuff on PS Plus so I can download (Not stream). They can be so much more than what they are.
To be fair Nintendo only knows said thing due to supporting the genre for decades gaining countless consumers from it, not moving on years ago only to try it out once more later on
I always said this. Knack and Knack 2 are solid games and could have been a big franchise if people weren't so braindead about it being kiddie and not a super serious dark and gritty game. Hopefully if Astro Bot become successful they'll go back and revisit knack
Concord trailer looked fabulous. I was super hyped after not knowing anything about it. And I think that was the general concensus. And then the low blow. "Oh, by the way, this is a 5 vs 5 first person shooter, here's an Apex-type gameplay." Oh. No thanks.
What's impressive about that operating income graph is that it includes their $3.6B acquisition of Bungie. Their revenues is still trending upwards it seems.
This game better be released at less than $60. $40 would be awesome, $50 is ok but paying full price for a platformer can easily kill what could be a step for astrobot to become Playstation's mascot and merchandise seller.
I honestly think that this is exactly what Sony, the ps5 was missing. My kids loved the first one and are so damn excited for this part. So it will be a day one pick up for me, and I know it won’t disappoint since it’s such a fun light hearted game.
Its so sad that people are immediately so dismissive. When in reality they are disappointed in their own expectations which isnt fair to no one. And besides that. Let people play Concord first. Everybody hated on helldivers too or didnt even give it any attention. Not even Spawnwave. And we all know how that turned out. All im sayin is. Don't expeect anything. Try it first. If its wack. Then yeah. Go sh*t all over it. Because then its valid.
With how many good games that exist today why would we spend the time on a game that looks like shit. Maybe it is fun to play but if it looks generic then I’m not wasting my time on it when my back log is already huge
During the PS2 era, Sony was the best place by far for 3D Platformers. Ratchet, Jak, and Sly were this holy trinity and together all nine games for them on the PS2 plus the spin offs made them the best for the genre, but then the PS3 didn't really have too much to compete with Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 on the Wii. Glad to see Sony take the genre seriously outside of Ratchet again.
That is not the point! Rachet&Clank: Rift Apart hat a budget of $80Mil but only sold 3 Mil copies. SONY have the data and will probably not want to invest like 60 Devs over 4 years for a 3D Platformers taht will not be profitable

I don’t know what Sony is doing spending 200+ million on making games, where are they wasting this money? Look at games like Yakuza: Like a dragon. That is a near 100 hour open world rpg with realistic art style and a lot of cinematic cutscenes and they only had a budget of 11 million. We dont know the budget for infinite wealth however it doubled the amount of content and increased visuals for a seemingly similar budget

I feel like that’s the big problem with all the Live service games, when the popular game comes out, everyone tries to copy them, but game development takes so long that the game is out of date by the time it comes out. This is just the latest example of one.

😂 people never stop wanting 3d Mario I might have to finally buy a switch. One question is Mario Italian Mexican or Japanese?
The people wanting the next Mario will never consider this to fill the void over an odyssey 2. You don’t seem to understand the brand loyalty and that more people have a switch than a ps5.
Nahh why if they have a Nintendo switch they will buy Mario. Why buy a ps5
Basically Sony just had to make a Nintendo game to make everyone happy 😏
😂 yes
Nintendo doesn't own platformers.
Astrobot is definitely giving me some Nintendo vibes.
Why buy a ps5 when Mario Odyssey is cheaper with the system and game.
@@PedroMartinez-ri4rj Because platformer fans want to play more than one platformer.
Astrobot Rescue Mission was the best PSVR game imo. Asobi seems to have taken that same concept and just made it a non VR platformer and I'm all for it. Go Team Asobi!
It does look very fun and bright. Absolutely what Playstation needs right now. A good classic video game.
I think, after closing down Studio Japan, they need Astro Bot to really get back in the groove.
sony need to reopen the japan studio.
It is what Sony needs. But the question is.. is it going to sell enough that Sony will allow more games like Astro Bot in the near future?
Also.. how much is Astro Bot gonna cost? Is it going to be a 70$ release, or a 50$ release?
all nintendo games are 70 whats the problem? ps5 is outselling xbox 5-1 so it will sell
@@daysgone2997I’m already seeing people saying they wouldn’t pay $70 for it. Also the only $70 Nintendo game so far is TOTK. No platformers has been $70.
@@daysgone2997 The problem is, the average Playstation owner doesn't usually buy games like Astro Bot.
And if the game comes out for 70$/80€ I really don't think they will sell alot.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought ~$50 is the asking price that seems right.
I'd like to see Sony produce single player games that focus less on story, more on pure gameplay and fun, like Astro
Sony desperately needs diversity, and Astro Bot is that, while looking very fun in it's own right.
I think Jim Ryan is the Don Mattrick of Sony. He wanted the company to mostly release these cinematic type titles which cost too much to do then had the dumb idea to dumping resources into live service games to which some were canceled. They really need to get back to basics and also stop charging too much.
Most of the cinematic push came under the leadership of Shawn Layden. Jim Ryan focused on the live service push for sure.
Microsoft owning call of duty forces Sony to be so desperate most of their profits come from call of duty sales.
@@chumlee9562 CoD is still on PlayStation though. The only difference now is, that Sony don’t have the marketing rights for CoD, and aren’t getting exclusive content
@@nicekix3038 Sony is making Microsoft money
Astro Bot was the *highlight* of the showcase for me. Its gameplay looked like a fusion between *3D Mario* and *Kirby Forgotten Land,* which is AWESOME and worth keeping an eye on.
Now if only the other Astro....... *Astro BOY* could get a new 3D game I would be over the moon if that ever happened.
if it's a good game i'm ok with a full price $70 game but what I think Sony should do is have this Astro game be slightly lower priced so more people want to check it out and then for the next game, once people know what they're in for, have that one be full priced
This feels like a game that was supposed to come out in 2018.
Astrobot *NOT* being in VR is still a giant middle finger to everyone who bought PSVR2.
I’m actually hoping Astrobot comes with a VR2 mode. I would definitely get it then.
I hope people actually put their money where they mouth is and support Astrobot.
It's almost like they should've never closed Japan studios....
I don’t trust PS consumers to get Astro Bot at $70. It’s all in the internet bubble.
$70 is a good way to kill the game I would say the game needs to be like helldivers 2 price tag at $40
@@llfallen0nell884 Helldivers have microtansaction while AstroBot will probably not. If Astrobot delivers a high quality 15h experience then it deserves a $70 pricetag.

Nice
Concord is so disappointing. No wonder Jim Ryan was shown the door.
Not only that, but buyinf Bungie has proven to be a major error in judgement. That studio is a flop, destroyed their own Destiny IP. Destroyed TLOU MP, which would have been as popular as helldivers 2.
Jim Ryan was a fat joke
Ryan is a Clown. Bungie is a dumpster fire. After Last Chance DLC, sony will take over and fire all those high paying exe.
@@krazyd0nut404destiny 2 number 1 on steam and PlayStation
After so many years of searching for a Mascot the Sony PlayStation brand had a perfect Mascot in Astro Bot all along
You are the only TH-camr I have seen who hasn't taken a negative approach to the showcase. Good on you!
I still can't believe a tech demo game took off more than any other thing Sony had cooking.
Their bangers must not be banging
@jarde1989 Astro was a tech demo, it was designed for you to learn about the controller, it's why it was free and short. It's not a knock, don't take it personal. I'm certain this new one will be longer and be good too, but this show was flaming trash.
@@RayRayZ28It wasn't just a tech demo. It was an excellent tech demo. It did a great job showing the technology of the Dual Sense while also being fun to play. Not many tech demos achieve that.

We need more smaller games that aren't just action adventure third person games
I 100% agree that games like Astro Bot are what Sony/PlayStation needs. I would like it if Sony's release cadence was like what Sega is doing now with Sonic and Like a Dragon. Instead of only releasing bigger budget entries every 5-6 years with a drought in between, release "smaller" titles like Sonic Superstars or Like a Dragon Gaiden to bridge the gap before the next big game. The only caveat to a game like Astro Bot is whether it will sell good enough to warrant more entries in the future. Time will tell!
Astro Bot? Really? Everywhere I look, Monster Hunter Wilds is blowing up! Plus, we're getting another trailer next week!

The only tune I'll be singing is me buying 2 copies of Astro Bot.
Who knew that cute, colorful 3D single-player platformers were a good bet? I mean, BESIDES Nintendo? WHO KNEW!?
To be fair Nintendo only knows said thing due to supporting the genre for decades gaining countless consumers from it, not moving on years ago only to try it out once more later on
I always said this. Knack and Knack 2 are solid games and could have been a big franchise if people weren't so braindead about it being kiddie and not a super serious dark and gritty game. Hopefully if Astro Bot become successful they'll go back and revisit knack
