This fim tries to include all stories from Kiplings two volumes of the Jungle Book and be it just as an aside by a character but the bulk is from the stories "Tiger, Tiger", "The King's Ancus" and "Let the jungle in". It's far closer to the spirit of the books than any other the movie adaptations I know of. Disney for example famously put the book on the table in the first meetung and said "The first thing I want from you is that you DO NOT read this".
