    We are living in the golden age of guitar tone. I remember having a Marshall Valvestate 2000 50watt stack and thinking that it was the best I could get for the $1200 I had. Now for $1200, you can get a fantastic tone from a pedal plugged into a used Matrix power amp, into a beat up cab with at least two new speakers (Greenbacks preferably). That’s assuming you already have a decent guitar.

    • @mattvdh
      @mattvdh ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes and no, we are lucky to have channels like this where we get to find out which amp rip and which don't, but the thing is that the prices have gone through the roof. You used to be able to get a 5150 for like $500, now they are like a grand more. The market in general is a lot more expensive now.

    Just got this today and so far I’m enjoying it. I mostly play direct to PA these days and sometimes I don’t want to drag my Mesa Mark V to a gig even though it has a built in cab clone. This is a nice option when I want to travel light.

    • @thepajamajams
      @thepajamajams 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you think of it as a direct to pa rig? I want to go ampless.

    I just got my FS06 in the mail today, and it's an amazing pedal. The sounds are all great, the flexibility built into the pedal is spectacular, it feels well built, save feature is incredibly useful, 3-band EQ lets you really dial in your tone. For $68 I got 14 pedals AND a preamp. I also own Flamma's Reverb and Modulation pedals, and I'm not done yet. This company is definitely one to watch.

      How was it so far? Have you tried using live? Sounds a bit thin bright in this video. Not in a bad way, I’m just saying frequency wise.

  • @xsteox770

    If you can find one, try a Sonicake sandman. Like this, except it's 5 highgain tones in a mini pedal. And it's cheap enough. Marshall jcm, Engl Savage, Diezel Vh4, Mesa Rectifier and 5150

    These companies modeling the Friedman stuff are absolutely killing it with that amp model. Pretty difficult to model a Mark series amp in a set up like this since you don’t get that graphic EQ or anything, but with a boost it still sounded silly good. I would love to see some shootouts with the Joyo Preamp house if you still have that unit. Amazing video as always dude!

  • @buddyhimself
    @buddyhimself 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Seems like it's a good budget option to have in your bag in case your main rig goes down at a show, and need something decent to go into the PA to finish the set.

    On the 3rd Party IR, the mode 7 surely packed a lot of chug, you'll really notice the transition of mode 7 from the rest of mode 4 to 6. Packs a lot of tone options especially for heavy stuff.

    Would love to see the Flamma vs the Mooer Preamp Live!!! I’m really impressed with the flamma so far but love all the extras the Mooer has over it. It would be awesome to see some side by sides of each amp model they have to offer (dual rec vs dual rec, 5150 vs 5150, etc.) Thanks man, killer content 🤘🤘🤘

  • @KPGuitarStudios
    @KPGuitarStudios 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The new track sounds really cool! The pedal on the 5150 setting and BE-100 were both pretty good especially with the 3rd party. Built-in were a bit sad. Like a lot of other gear out there, if you know what you're doing, you can make it work pretty good for the application.

  • @bfluker85
    @bfluker85 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So thanks to this video I had to snag one of these and have been tracking songs all morning. Fwiw the 5150 and ac30 blend nicely for punk songs.

  • @riffsnoleads
    @riffsnoleads 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The sounds are pretty good overall. I wish the Plexi section had more bark, but still very serviceable. It would also be cool if there were a presence knob in addition to the all the other controls, I do not get why almost no one does this.

    • @anyshittynickname
      @anyshittynickname 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe that's because the presence and resonance are usually tone controls related to the power amp section.

    Thks U for this review. For 70$, sure it's more versatile and has a better stock cab sim than a mooer preamp pedal stuck on only one tone. Good deal if you can't reach the joyo preamp.

  • @matheussantana1598

    the best rewiew that i saw!!1 congratulations.

  • @cmd_f5
    @cmd_f5 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    All that for 70 bucks = amazing. The Plex and 5150 tones are amazing, Mesa is a little dry but could be worked over with some post FX maybe. The Coral was stupid good sounding, very open. That's enough for me to buy one hands down. Wasn't even looking for a preamp, but well if it's good it's good! :d
    Cheers man

    ENJOYED THE SONG @ 19:55 YOU SOUND GREAT PAL . I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF MODELING GEAR FOR A LONG TIME . SO HAPPY THAT ITS FINALLY GOOD ENOUGH FOR SOME PEOPLE TO EMBRACE IT , INSTEAD OF BEING SNICKERED AT BY THE TUBE AMP CREW . shit cl . if you live in an apartment , its just a fact of life you cANT have a collection of massive and un-effecient tube stacks . it doesnt make me less of a musician , i can take care of that by myself .

    Your demo and Burgs both sounded good. Though the stock cabs vs. 3rd party IRs weren't that much different sounding. It seems like a cheap backup option or a way to add a few more amp models to whatever existing device you might be using.

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They sounded pretty different in person. Like a 4x12 vs a 2x12. The built in cab sim is actually pretty good, it's just more compressed and a little darker than what I prefer.

    At the rate that technology is closing the gap between high end modelling and products like this. I honestly see software VSTs becoming much better value. As soon as technology progresses hardware based products become obsolete. If you plan to gig I think hardware makes things easier, but I couldn't fathom putting all my faith in a product in this price range. Am I alone here?

    Nice review! The Joyo AmpHouse you reviewed was so good I added it to my pedal board so I can be completely ampless when the need arises (Or so I can perform riff salad late at night without waking the family). A couple of things I've noticed: the flamma is great at its price point but its worthwhile to spend a few more ducats for a wider variety of great sounds or buy like a mooer amp sim for the same price that is going to model a specific amp tone more accurately. QUESTION. Is it just me or do the amp emulators run incredibly bass heavy (like watch out for the mud, bass heavy) My EQ's always seem to tend to have more mid and treble. On a traditional tube amp these setting would definitely put my EQ more Djenty or hairmetal shred. Great channel as always.

      I kind of agree - all the clean presets sound the same - no "sparkle" at all. And the distorted models are all very similar, too, which they should not be. I'd rather go with either a Joyo Preamp House (twice the cost, but way better sounding), or buy the individual Joyo "Sound" series pedals. They each are very characteristically different - each has a very unique flavor.

Better to use neutral sounding guitar or pickup to hear the original sound and to hear what the player need to buy. 🤔🤔
