    Having a family member dealing with cancer and recovering affer a transplant really made me so grateful for the oncology nurses. They are one of the most compassionate and sweet people ever and are so wonderful and kind. I love your videos and this video was so cool seeing you working as an oncology nurse

    I’m here bc oncology is one of the specialties I’ve always been curious and interested in. I have less than a year left of my program and hope I can get an externship in either NICU or Oncology. Thank you for you video!

    I'm in term 5 out of 8 of the RN program and I have to submit my request form for practicum placements by next month. I love nursing but I have absolutely no idea where I'd see myself working! I thought about maternity bc I liked how patient centred it was but part of me is curious about complex illnesses. I found your channel while looking up videos about oncology nursing- I look forward to catching up on your nursing journey! :) (I also just started my YT this year hehe)

    How did you find the transition from first starting in primary care to an inpatient hospital setting without going through a new grad residency program?

    lol i love comparing everyones nclex videos and the "day in the life of so and so..." videos couple of years later....10/10 people have that shine of innocence taken away...haha i miss the days of nursing school...Im still one of the lucky few who still keep in touch with my classmates from back in the day...we still meet and eat, talk about work, talk about school...

  • @aw8758

    Never done an iv?! Sorry but for all CU tuition costs that is shocking…do you think it was due to covid and them not being able to fully have clinical in the hospital? I have a mandatory lab practicing ivs in my absn program. I know there is no specific iv course in nursing school but that’s very surprising. Please make a video when you feel comfortable showing us how you do it..some tips on ivs maybe! Thank you!

      Where Im from, nursing students are not allowed to insert an IV. 😒 I had to learn on my first year as a nurse to insert one. This is pre covid, years ago. My sister who just graduated last year is proficient in inserting iv’s cuz it was allowed where she lived (we live in two different state). Weird, rite?

    • @aw8758
      @aw8758 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@RN-PRN i understand not being allowed to insert iv on patients but completely not knowing how to do an iv, not having practiced in lab on one another or sim lab is kind of insane esp considering how much CU program is. but i totally understand it is weird

    • @genevieveantwi6721
      @genevieveantwi6721 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      my school doesnt allow it either. We had maybe one lab day on it but that was it. they dont focus on it in school since we cant do it

    • @daniellecoffey4039
      @daniellecoffey4039 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I graduated in 2021 and we had an iv practice day where we started them on the fake arms then we did them on each other. After we were successful on each other they allowed us to do them in clinical if the opportunity came but it didn’t happen often since most patients were already on the unit. If a pt pulled one out they would call for a student to restart it but not all of us had that chance.. I attempted to once on a real patient but

    • @OgFarrow
      @OgFarrow ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to watch a video online how to learn how to insert an IV and my school gave us a competency test on a dummy arm to perform it on with no practice lol

    Wow!! I’ve been an inpatient oncology nurse for two years now. I started at the beginning of COVID. I am VERY surprised you never learned how to do IV insertion. Did you do a ADN program?
    Friendly tip, if you are attempting a IV in the wrist/forearm place the tourniquet below the elbow not above.
