The sad part is that Splatoon is a game that largely relies on the online play, which means that the day Nintendo shuts down the Wii U servers, 80% of Splatoon's content will just go completely out the window... :(
Came back to this now that the Wii U servers have ended to remember all the good times I had while playing this game. I was in middle school (13-14) when the game first came out and I played this game through every single splatfest. I'm now an adult in her early 20s. Being able to see this game grow into the series it is now fills my heart with so much love, joy, and pride. I remember staying up all night on weekends just so that I could play the game as much as possible. And I remember hopping on the game being the first thing I would do after my school day was over. Not only that but I had no access to social media such as Twitter at the time so any time a new splatfest theme came out I literally heard about it from the game which made Splatfests all the more exciting for me. I have so many wonderful memories of this game and I'm happy I got to experience this wonderful series from the very beginning. I may not be a squid now, or a kid now; but I will be a Splatooner, forever and always RIP Splatoon, I love you so much ❤️

With the servers ending in less than 24 hours I decided to listen to this again and GODDDDDD it still sounds beautiful as I remember it I still tear up every time. No doubt I'm definitely going to miss this game hella but I'm really happy to have played it during its time and made so many memories from it. Thank you Splatoon for inspiring me to get into art :-)
With the news that the online play for Wii U and 3DS was shutting down, I went to play this game and half expected to servers to be empty. No, I'm apparently not the only one who did that. Granted they were mostly Japanese players but it was still neat to be back. It still held up. They had a lot of specials that later games omitted. The seeker was leagues better than the autobombs of 2 & 3 (though I imagine that's why they got rid of them) and the Inkzooka and Inkstrike were still really cool. Also, I missed being able to look at the map at all times, thanks to the gamepad. I got all the sunken scrolls that I missed and even beat the final boss again ,for funsies. The campaign was a lot easier then the other 2 games. And DJ Octavio was an incredible fight. Just before I stopped playing, I rewatched the credits. It truly was a wave of nostalgia. Almost brought a tear of joy to my eye.
Commenting this since as of April 8th, 2024, all Wii U games that have online services will be prished by Nintendo. Splatoon is one of those games. I won't forget the memories I had with this game with friends online and everywhere. This brought such a big community in our hearts. Thank you, Splatoon. You will never be forgotten. 2015-2024.
Splatoon seriously did its own aesthetic so well in the first game. I was actually surprised how well they crafted the world, I had always wanted an open world, explorable Splatoon game, IDK if Splatoon 3 is like that. But damn I had great memories with this game, makes me sad. I use to play this with my sister when it first released, and now she's gone. I hope Nintendo knows, some of their games genuinely make an impact 😕

I'm a few weeks late but... Happy 8 years, Splatoon! I'm a very new fan to the series; I got Splatoon 3 for Christmas 2022, but it's entirely changed my life. There is nothing else like Splatoon. I will forever love this series, for however long it goes on. I can't believe that a game on a terribly performing console would end up becoming as big as it did. It's an absolute miracle Nintendo made a Splatoon 2, and a Splatoon 3, too! I know alot of people hate on the game, but I'm sure they just haven't seen the sheer beauty of funny humanoid squid and octopus people shooting eachother with ink...and now that I think about it, this game has such a silly concept. Yet it was perfectly executed. I bet me from a few years ago watching Failboat's Octo Expansion series, having no clue what was going on, would never expect that I would have a crippling obsession with a funny humanoid squid woman... Callie my beloved... That's all I have to say for now. Stay fresh~

fun fact: My stupid ass didn't notice the giant tentacle coming out of the cube stamp in the first world and spent an hour doing dumbcrap trying to kill it, then I died and completed the three levels in the first world all over again several times until I got to the point that my gear was upgraded to the maximum and still didn't knew what to do. Then I accepted that I neededd help, searched it up and felt dumb (I thought you couldn't climb it) After that the game was insanely easy since my gear was fully upgraded lol

but its implied that the domes (aka where the octarians live) are being shut down when you take the zapfish from them, after all, its pretty safe to assume that the domes rely on power to stay up.
it was the octarians who brought it to violence. negotiations were likely possible, but they didn't even try. they just stole a vital power source without any sort of warning. also, the entire race wasn't likely killed, since that would imply they had to somehow have a zapfish before stealing from the inklings. isn't reading into a game way more than intended fun? I think it's fun.
when i beat splatoon a was so hyped but i remember stand up and looking around the room for sombody to celebrate with only to realize i was home alone, so i just stood there in the middle of the room listening to this...
This brings me back so much, 7 years ago, I was with my wii u and finally beat octavio after attempts over attempts (I was 7 and not very good at the game) and then I heard this song: the satisfaction, the culmination, I think it was the only time I cried in front of the credits of a game... I will never have the same experience again. I miss it... It is beautiful to look back on it and see how much it has changed with splatoon 3. The nostalgia is real and great... Thank you for the memories, Splatoon.

what a genuine gem of a game. still one of my favorite games of all time, and every entry continues to only improve the game. every second childhood me spent playing this masterpiece was completely worth it, even if the later missions were extremely frustrating at times lmao, i'll never forget the squid sisters!

For me it’s kinda sad that I forgot a lot of memories of splatoon but when I listen to these songs especially the end credits it just gives me that nostalgia and that makes me happy inside
I pray this gets a switch port cuz honestly I like 1 better than 3

I look at this, and think of the lore, and I want to cry. The octarians had no choice but to fight, for the sake of there species. And when you win, you just know you killed the entire species. Congrats agent 3, you committed mass genocide.
but their ruler is still alive, he just got captured so technically it isn't genocide
but its implied that the domes (aka where the octarians live) are being shut down when you take the zapfish from them, after all, its pretty safe to assume that the domes rely on power to stay up.

true, but still. not an entire species was wiped. almost, but not completely
it was the octarians who brought it to violence. negotiations were likely possible, but they didn't even try. they just stole a vital power source without any sort of warning. also, the entire race wasn't likely killed, since that would imply they had to somehow have a zapfish before stealing from the inklings.
isn't reading into a game way more than intended fun? I think it's fun.

This brings me back so much, 7 years ago, I was with my wii u and finally beat octavio after attempts over attempts (I was 7 and not very good at the game) and then I heard this song: the satisfaction, the culmination, I think it was the only time I cried in front of the credits of a game... I will never have the same experience again. I miss it... It is beautiful to look back on it and see how much it has changed with splatoon 3. The nostalgia is real and great... Thank you for the memories, Splatoon.

what a genuine gem of a game. still one of my favorite games of all time, and every entry continues to only improve the game. every second childhood me spent playing this masterpiece was completely worth it, even if the later missions were extremely frustrating at times lmao, i'll never forget the squid sisters!

I can imagine myself with my friends, walking around in the town a summer night. No need to be anxious, just here to enjoy the moment, to sit and to look at the stars.
This is what this songs inspires me. And the fact that Iwata is in the credit makes it even more special.
