In US news, President Donald Trump is blaming the layoffs of factory workers at General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, on the auto industry union workers themselves. From the White House, Trump called out UAW Local 1112 and specifically UAW Local 1112 president David Green in response to the GM factory closure and layoffs. The Lordstown GM factory made General Motors cars for decades, where the auto industry propped up the local area.

This is the problem with electing unscrupulous non-intellectuals like Trump to lead countries. Granted, being an intellectual by itself isn't enough, as there are unscrupulous intellectuals which make decisions good for themselves & not for the entire population. And electing ethical non-intellectuals is also not ideal, because they are vulnerable to bad decision making. Layoffs at Chrysler Corporation caused our cross-country move to Texas back in 1981. With twenty years of seniority we were still "permanently laid off" with no hope of being called back. After five years the economic situation in the Southern States had gotten as bad as it had been in Northern States and we were laid off again but there were very few opportunities for decent wage work in Texas so we made our way back home. We came back to find that Chrysler was hiring off the streets. We were hired back and resumed the interrupted seniority. I consider those to have been lost years for us. Expensive, stressful, leaving homes and families behind. I have nothing but sympathy for people going through it all over again in 2019.

The better off the employees overall satisfaction is the better tax rates are. Employees should be able to give a survey.

Another issue here is that Tesla approached GM and offered $64 million for the plant! GM said they can’t sell if the unions are fired off - thus Elon said he wont restart negotiations until Q3 is over. Thus once the unions are gone this plant will re-open!
Thus based on all the facts above - how can Now.This say its not about Unions? Tesla can run this entire facility with just 1,800 people and automate 77% of the production line. GM has no other option but to sell the Plant.... Jobs will return to the USA in the “supply chain” !
We need to give companies incentives to build in America only. No tax cuts unless you build in America and hire American only.

General Motors is an absolute failure when it comes to professional grades and commitment. Poor design, corporate merger mentality, profit driven, shoddy designs.

When the Chrysler plant in Fenton, MO closed down it hurt the entire St. Louis area. Many good paying jobs in the auto industry. @@carloscatalan2258 yes. Invest it where it is cheaper. Soon automation will be cheap enough to push most factory workers in the country. Yet we still try to hold on to it. If we could pay a good wage for services, I think we could really take off. Everyone is willing to pay money to have someone do something for them.
Im not an expert but if there is little penalty in making goods outside the states and shipping them in, then a company can make more money doing it that way. Mexico is close to the states so shipping is minimal and the cost of labour is much less. Almost every company that makes products that Mexico can manufacture can increase their profits by doing this.
