    As of November 19, 2022, there is no 60 days rule. I called Amex and it’s now a minimum of 90 days and all the way up to 180 days, depending on the specific person.

    My Amex blue preferred had a 5K limit. Thought what the heck, let me try this out. On the Amex site, I had a lot of trouble searching for anything related to a credit line increase. Jumped on the app and chatted with a bot. Thankfully, they directed me right to it. Was approved for 15K! Major thank you Chase! Earned a new sub.

    My very first unsecured card was last year with Amex. I applied and within five seconds I got an email that I was approved for $10K. I was so happy I went from a $500 Secured Capital One card to a $10K Amex card. I never knew about an increase until now so last night I asked for $25K on the website and they gave it to me. YAY!

    One of the best points you made is to only request an increase if you are actually using the card and NEED the higher limit. I feel like a lot of us credit card fanatics want to have a really high credit limit even if we don't actually use our cards a ton. Great video overall!

      Yessir Spencer! 🙌🏽 I found this out the hard way too because I once applied for a CLI on a card that I didn't use and it was denied 😅 Thank you for always watching and commenting my guy

      Would it be best to ask for credit incase limit ?

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Anthonyjones-pq4ff What I would do in the meantime is pay off your credit cards early to bring the utilization down to less than 10% (I do 1-2%). But yes, you could always request an increase (I would check if it's a soft or hard pull first) or you could just apply for another credit card to increase your total credit limit. That doesn't necessarily help in this case though unless you shift some spend to that new card too.

    Today is January 29, 2023. I opened my new AMEX card in September 2022. I was allowed my FIRST Credit Limit Increase in December, on the 94th day, after opening my card. The 2nd CLI will be at 180 days. (Realistically probably day 182, or 185 or whatever)
    Hope this helps some nice people out there!

    Have been denied 3 times. A couple years ago I tried 1-$2,000 denied over the phone. A year ago received $1,500 increase unrequested after paying off $7,000. Tried last night for 3xs denied, then 25% increase using the website. Yet I was receiving pre-approvals for the platinum and my credit is perfect.

    Couple things, I keep seeing TH-camrs say that you can get an increase in 60 days but from my personal experience its actually 90 days. It used to be 60 awhile ago. I have 5 Amex Credit cards and 3 Amex Charge cards. Also, you can definitely get more then 35k without a financial review. My total credit limits between cards is much greater then 35k and I have never had a financial review.

    • @ChaseYokoyama
      @ChaseYokoyama  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dang that's a lot of Amex cards 😅 Glad to hear you didn't have to get a Financial review. I've definitely heard of stories of getting one with less number of cards. Good to know tho!

    • @gregorygregory6347
      @gregorygregory6347 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I agree. Things have changed. I called Amex and they told me there is nothing about 60 days whatsoever. Said I could try after a minimum of 90 days. And even then it’s not guaranteed. Could be as much as 180 days.
      Even though this video and most every other video I’ve seen on the 60 days specifically, aren’t that old, they are of date on that for sure!

    The Credit limit increase to be able to make a larger than purchase is not exactly correct. You can deposit the amount to your credit card account & then make the purchase :)
    Lets say your credit limit is $2000 and you want a laptop that costs $2800.
    Send in a deposit of $800 to your credit card account. It should say -$800 in statement balances
    Now you are good to make that 2800$ on that $2000 limit card.

      It happened to me as well. My first AMEX card is the blue cash preferred which I got in September of last year. After 3 months I checked to see if I could use the CLI tab within the app and did not see it because it wasn’t there. I had to wait till I had the card for 9 to 10 months and when I checked again after that time, the CLI request button was visible and available. Does an AMEX card have a statement date/closing date and a due date? Or just a statement/closing date? Because on other cards I hear people talking about those two dates and leaving a small utilization amount to post on your statemebt date then pay it in full before your due date. But with AMEX I only hear people say to pay in full by the 'closing date".

    • @ChaseYokoyama
      @ChaseYokoyama  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Amex has statement opening, closing and due dates. They might be referring to Amex charge cards where you have to pay in full before the due date. However, on those cards you don't need to pay in full before the closing date.

AMEX will allow you to get the card but you will never receive a CLI until the BK falls COMPLETELY off credit report. I used the card religiously to hopefully get a CLI in 6 months time.
