Alexander, The Mall was sold and the new owners expect to have it full of businesses over the next year or so. Butte is a pollution disaster. Open mine water ponds are so toxic that they kill birds that land on them almost instantly. I hope the town can survive. Cheers, Rik Spector
The big giant wooden surround held a mirror and was behind a barber chair... The drawer was for scissors.. combs and razors... It is a big one and must have been in a fancy barber shop...
I'm like that for old and new kitchen equipment and gadgets and bowls etc 😂 I love to cook, bake and can... I have an addiction to anything food related, and I have to rein myself in when I walk down the kitchen aisle in the shop lol. It's ok to look, but I don't need everything 😅
Kinda sad. Beautiful buildings slowly decaying. 😢 I knew you'd like the store with all the vintage clothing. Reminded me of some houses you've cleared out In the past. I can see you going online with the sign people. You might be a great customer.
Yeah, the money to renovate and upgrade those places must be insane! Unless someone comes along with lots of money, I doubt it'll be reinvigorated. But you never know, it could happen...
Not too much in Butte. My wife and I worked for 6 months there at the hospital, we were travel nurses. Did you see The Berkeley Pit it's a former open pit copper mine. Google a photo if you missed it.
I nearly spat my drink out when I heard how you pronounce Cunard 😂😂 Cun ard. It's actually pronounced Qnard. 😂I love it when you're out and about with your family, you take me along to lots of lovely, interesting places. Thanks Alexander, Melissa & family. 🥰
Sad to see Butte in that state. I hope they can revitalize it by embracing tourism, etc. They recently got grant money to help restore the historic district of downtown. Imagine all of those buildings filled with cool shops, eateries and drinkeries!
Oh my !!! What has gone wrong in Butte ? It’s been over a decade since I’ve been there . Truly shocked ! That antique store packed five feet deep , how do they do any business ? What a mess .
Alex,Melissa,Steven,Jason,Abbeygale, and Mom. Fun watching you guys checking the shops. So sad to see that once a thriving downtown is slowly disappearing. I’m glad the kids found some stuff to buy. Well Alex my love. Until next time. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🍺🥤🥤🥤🕊🌈🇺🇸🌹🌞🙏😇❤️👍
Alex the museum had a Cowley, Oxford Car Plant sign on the wall! I bet that would be worth something to the Cowley plant that's still going!😄And the London Taxi cabs still ram the streets of London😃
I've watched some dead mall video on TH-cam ,it's a subgenre, and mostly empty malls happen in smaller markets these days. Bigger ones too. It's a sign of the times. (btw - My Mother the Scrounge - in my part of the world that's a compliment!)
I hope you enjoyed your time in our state! Butte has an interesting history, it was once known as "Butte, America" because everyone knew where it was. It used to be the largest town in Montana. Your souvenir is very fitting, Evel Knievel was from Butte! Now it's known for what it used to be and the Berkley Pit, superfund site. If you are still in the area, Anaconda isn't far away and has a little antique store, it's a cleaner area and you can see the Big Stack. Also, some of the older license plates will say they were made by prison inmates, they are more collectible. Anyway, if you ever come back, do come over to the Billings area. We have the largest antique shops in the state and the largest town. Feel free to contact me, I've been to most antique/thrift shops in and around Montana at least once. Glad there was good weather while you were here!
Americans no longer have the disposable income to support shopping malls. My best jobs were working in them at Melody Shops Dallas Tx and have some great memories of their hey-day. My cousin would set up a stand and air-brush T-shirts in the malls outside where l worked in music retail as if he worked for the store. He'd make 250-350 a day in 1980s US dollars. lt was a goldmine and pricy then have a retail space in a mall.
I have a Singer featherweight that’s quite pretty with the gold painted scrolls and in the original black case. The odd thing is, the plug is the original fitment that would have plugged into a light socket…the one with the two pins like a lightbulb. I don’t know if I should change it over to a U.K. modern plug or not.
Curious minds Want to know more about you. It would be so wonderful if one day you could tell us A little bit about your childhood, your history growing up, your father, Mother and siblings. And most of all , How you came to know so much about collectibles , antiques and so forth.
Speaking of 90s Robin Hood with Kevin Costner, does anyone remember when they had Robin Hood cereal? With little arrow head shaped pieces I think? I begged my grandmother for it but she wouldn't buy it for me lol.
As you can tell, I was using the microphone and I was not using the word thieves ha ha guess I’ve been caught. Looks like maybe you have your whole family with you that’s so great.
Did you find out how much they were selling that Barbie car for? I love that tin motorcycle you purchased. Was that a replica or an original? Did they find any porcelain enamel Canadian license plates for you? Thanks for taking us along. Nice to see your family as well.
The ornate wooden piece may have been to display movie posters. Even small-town theaters used to be fancy and one poster wouldve been all they needed w/ one screen.
Loved how the excitement in your voice jumped to 11 when in that 'museum'. other than that sad seeing a once grand town almost shuttered.

That Hofnar cigar sign comes from the Netherlands. The words on it are dutch.

That vintage store is incredible..all that fabric, hat boxes..just everything.. I'd be sooo broke if I was there

Another interesting video Alex!! 😊

How cool. I have an old Raleigh bicycle. Bought it in England way back in 1962. It sits sadly in my shed here in Oklahoma
Alex you are so funny when you’re in your element, transportation stuff. Lol
Not too much in Butte. My wife and I worked for 6 months there at the hospital, we were travel nurses. Did you see The Berkeley Pit it's a former open pit copper mine. Google a photo if you missed it.
I Can remember when they sold Motorbikes in the Holiday Village Mall in Great Falls... My how times change....
There's a wonderful old car museum in Deerlodge. You'd love it!
Thanks for taking me into a pawn shop. It was a first for me! 🙂
🙋♀️❤️. So many ghost towns! So many abandoned malls.. Times, they are a changin!
I love the smell of those old barbie cases from the 70's

Interesting!
Pretty sure the shadow started off as an old time radio program
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men. The Shadow knows.
@@judycater2832 thanks, I thought so .. I love old radio programs, and thought I'd heard it mentioned before or maybe caught an episode once.
“ Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men ? Only the shadow knows “. I think that was the tag line ???
Sad to see Butte looking like that
Awesome again 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Oh my !!! What has gone wrong in Butte ? It’s been over a decade since I’ve been there . Truly shocked !
That antique store packed five feet deep , how do they do any business ? What a mess .
Very nice❤
Alex That was a hall tree. in the auto museum. The wood was once a mirror. the rounded part had drawers.
For Alex to spot that 2nd Barbie car😮😮😮 Radar😂 The Barbie, Ken, Midge cases.... I wanted them so much when I was a kid!
I wish he'd said how much they were going for.
If you ever get to Helena, MT on the walking area downtown there is a massive antique shop.
Very cool

Loved the Shadow movie! We had all those toys, too.

Always makes me sad to see old towns boarded up and cool shops shut down.

It's like that in our mall. About 3 stores and a couple offices. People go there to walk in the heat and air conditioning.
I keep noticing you don't always put items back on the shelves like you found them. My husband does that, and I go behind him and fix it.
Maybe that counter was for coat check? I feel like that’s how they have looked in movies. No need for much counter space.
The large wood structure is a ticket window, I think.
I would have grabbed all those Battle Wagons. Those were basically the same ones Kenner used for the Star Wars Ewoks, just modified colours

I can see you returning to this town with a rental truck and doing a grand haul for an auction.
Me too!
It's too bad that that once prosperous downtown area has so many vacant storefronts. Intersesting things in those antique shops.

OMG, the camper from season 1 of The Waling Dead.. it had the pic of Dale right next to it..I so would’ve bought that😢
❤🎉🎉😊

Our mall here currently is in process of being tore down and replaced with a much bigger one,

Hope you didn't drink any water whilst in Butte, Alex. Water and soil contamination from the open pit mine.
A Brunswick,..Bar panel, the should be 3,, or 4 and glass mirrors!
Hope you like Butte!
Yes most malls are outdated an empty
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sadly that’s what our Mall looks like😢😮
Used to be a hopping place. Second city in the US to have electricity.
Sign Heaven
Alex is buying, draw straws to see who has to walk home.
Is this really Butte, Montana, or just existential blues?
The poor kids.
Maybe a mirror
Hi Alex😊
Hey I was jus in butte a week ago for hunting. Going back in late October.
Dead mall…
The once fabulous mall in my town is dead as well. So sad.
I would of bought that red bandana
ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE MALL BEWARE!
Why did you not buy that He-Man record case! LOL ;)
Seriously though, that was the best thing there 😄
do you still have that 1800's jewelry box in one of your videos, i'd like to have it.
It sold a while back sadly
@@CuriosityIncorporated it's ok, thanks.
Cunard pronounced as que nard

22:18, I think you're behind the counter and behind that white wall is an original entrance to what ever the building was originally
6:00 IIRC the "Robin Hood" battle wagon is literally the same model as the Ewok battle wagon toy.
11:03, that's not a hoarder house, it's a hoarder shop
18:45, sounded like breaking glass
a bit repetitive
