love how you advise them on what is potentially sellable for them, you're not just thinking about what you can get out of it. shows what a true person you are which is why I live your channel
I love how sensitive you are to peoples stage of loss or grief, and how it affects their ability/willingness to let things go. You are building relationships.
Great video Alexander. You're right, it's very much an old style curiosity inc video. I love how involved the owners are, so knowledgeable and willing to donate items to places where they would be best suited.
Wow! They had a lot to go through. Those were the times when you kept everything. I remember Dad making toys and furniture out of old wooden boxes . When they are ready you should find lots of interesting things. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
Marty's Chair, "Frasier"! And, Alexander, we know that toy cars are your passion, but lots of us would like to at least get a little glimpse when you come across the occasional doll!
Lovely things and I wish they were more ready to sell. They were so lucky to have Alex there. Sometimes, if donated items don't sell at charity thrift shops. They get thrown out. Even museums give away items at times. Would have been better to sell old clothes to Alex so he could sell to others who actually go wear them. Hope they have Alex back when they are ready.
That happened to me once. I drove an hour to pick up old books and the lady saw my interest and decided she wanted to research to see what she could get for some of them on eBay and then when I found a cool old post card, she wanted it. In the end I did get some stuff, but told her next time, don't advertise something you aren't willing to part with, wasting people's time and gas money.
@@GuyWithTheDogsthey get really weird (we aren’t even talking about hundreds or thousands)! I’ve seen my Auntie lose everything bc she wanted more than the house appraisal came in at…in the 1980s when mortgages were 14%😳
I wish I still had my Bissell carpet sweeper. I used it until I moved in 1982 and it was so easy to use sold so much in the clear out getting ready to move that I wish I had kept.
looks like they never got rid of anything. The stocking boxed brought back memories for me, I would go downtown and buy stockings in the department store and the stockings were wrapped in tissue paper, I am showing my age now. Barb
So jealous. Would love to do what you are doing. So much cool stuff. Maybe the next time around, since I'm over 80. You are so good with the families. 😊
Did the video get cut early? Besides that, I really love your videos! I am a young collector myself. I really like watching your videos so I can learn how much something is! Keep up the great work!
I noticed that, too… the video seemed to cut off abruptly at the end. I thought maybe it was a glitch on my end. Regardless, always great content from Alex, thanks!
I’m from North Carolina In America and I’ve found letters from a Canadian soldier from WW1. It’s from 1916 when he was in camp getting ready for war and then in war. There’s one letter that has a piece of sheet music that he found in a bombed house in Normany and sent home. It tells of being in the front line and things he could never unsee. Don’t know if you would’ve interested in the letters but we love finding papers from our soldiers in war.
Oh my! What a find; the whole house!! Very interesting.😁Very encouraging for me as I clean out and down size; or as I refer to as right size(!), in preparation for a move. But thankfully no where near the job that these two women have. Thank you for sharing😁
I always enjoy your that is they're only they're always so interestand the finds that you. Find. I'm going through a lot. Financially right now. And I wanted to visit With you about some toys and Hot Wheels. I have.😊❤
Alex, what happened?😄 I love love love these videos and the treasures they show.🥰I am so happy you saved some amazing old pieces. I hope they’ll ask you again when they are more ready to let go of more things.🙏🏻🥰
I always amazes me that someone has a whole house of stuff and is relluctunt to sell any of it. Yeah it was Granny's stuff, but the time has come to let it go or Your house will soon look like this one.. and yes, I have a few pieces i wont part with, but being in the business I cant keep everything I find interesting! You are so sweet and let them know you know what they are feeling.
I haven't gotten beyond the intro and I have to comment. It used to be i didn't like when you changed your intro ("the last one was the best" I'd say to the screen). Now I look for a change so I can see your creativity in play (you cant please a girl 😂). Anyway been with you since before looking for Adam. Thanks for all the adventures you've brought us on!
I found the channel through a car junk yard video just before the Adam series! Alex has gone from thinking about being an Uber driver to make ends meet to building his own house and owning an amazing collection of cars! What a lovely man and family to enjoy kindness reflecting back upon them!
Very much intrigued by watching this. Having older parents, I still remember watching my mother darn socks, and use those canning jars. Some of this, most actually, could sell to film staging companies.
Thank you , I know how hard that was to listen when all you wanted to do is explore and buy. I know you like story behind the item but sometimes ppl share to much , plus not sure they were listening to your advice, you are a patient man 😮
I was thinking the same thing. They were lovely people but perhaps weren't sensitive to the fact he didn't come there to hear their life history, only to come away wirh very little. He is always patient and kind. But I had a feeling from the way the people hovered and even took things out of Alex's hands that they were sentimental and might not be ready to sell much. Hopefully they will eventually realize it's too much to save and too much to individually sell on their own. Hope that didn't come across as too judgemental.
CI, I absolutely love your channel. Love seeing the little tribal basket you shared in this video. I found and purchased one similar to the one in your video many years ago with the basket info and hand drawn card from an earlier date. I've collected different items ( sculptures, artis sign painting artwork, vintage clothing, toy models) throughout the year...and appreciate what you do. I really enjoy viewing and sharing your videos. So keep them coming. Martie W. from Florida
Alexander, I got a SRPG41 Seiko 5 Automatic watch 100 meter day /date with black dial for 249.69 It's got a stem winder and easy date day set. It' looks great and is really functional, I decided I didn't really need a lot of complications. Thank you so much, and in case you have buyers remorse I'll hold on to the balance until I get your comments about the Omega and Heuer. Take Care, Rik Spector
I hope they sell that mid-century modern furniture to a refinisher. I am a mid-century modern lover and if refinished and refinished well, they could make a nice chunk of change for those two pieces.
Perfect timing on the posting of this video. I had just finished a live stream from another of my favourite TH-camrs. ❤ Talk about a cliffhanger at the end. 😄
Alex, I envy your occupation. I would love to go to the estate sales. Just curious if there are any Christmas decorations which are considered worth money.
"We have...." an inadvertent (and probably frustrating) TH-cam uploading error, but the bunches of resulting comments will cause the video to be pushed out to more people, so there's a silver lining. And...if you didn't lose the rest of this video before uploading, you'll have an already edited Part 2!
The hosts were really annoying. What is the point of inviting you only to block every attempt from you to buy items?. Ridiculous. They got a free expert evaluation of all the stuff they haven't looked at.
Objects can only bring a fleeting joy, a sweet, nostalgic memory. These pale in comparison to the people who matter most in our lives. Trappings of life come and go, the flotsam and jetsam of our experiences.
Loved the carpet sweeper. I've used one of those. But.. is the dog up for grabs too? (LOL) The stuffed bear is obviously well-loved, and is now on heckuva display piece. "We have".... a box with a choochoo train where the video just suddenly cut out, and not like Alex meant it to cut off there. Did something happen?
Long Time watcher first time comment - My local NZ trading community has a USA K-20 military camera up for auction. Is this something you would be interested in? :)
I could see clenching fingers from the beginning of your video, and felt bad for you. I have been there before as well: someone wants to get rid of stuff and then can't manage to get rid of it. Too bad. You would've given them a fair price.
Estate Sales around here are barely worth going to anymore, there's always a long line even on days 2 AND 3. Ooverpriced, or they want to sell all 5000 of their books as one lot, or the place stinks like moldy cat pee.
love how you advise them on what is potentially sellable for them, you're not just thinking about what you can get out of it.

Now this is the Alex I remember! Not only I was entertained, I gained knowledge! Thank you, seriously, thank you. Respectfully,Wally
I agree, this is why i started watching this arc. i love your empathy.
The video was cut off at the end, hopefully you can publish another video with the missing minutes.
The part that did not show has been deleted already. He did fix stuff.

Great video Alexander. You're right, it's very much an old style curiosity inc video. I love how involved the owners are, so knowledgeable and willing to donate items to places where they would be best suited.
Loved the video and the collection, the ladies sounded delightful
A very unusual abrupt ending.....makes me wonder if something went wrong.....I really enjoy when you let us see your new treasures. Thanks
Wow! They had a lot to go through. Those were the times when you kept everything. I remember Dad making toys and furniture out of old wooden boxes . When they are ready you should find lots of interesting things. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
Hoarding! They grew up during the war where you couldn’t get stuff!
Really interesting video. I love antique toys, games and books.

Reminds me of my Grandmother. When she passed we realized she did not throw anything away. Amazing how different generations can be.
I'm only 53, but I remember books made of cloth. It was still being done in my childhood.

I'm guessing that when she finally felt overwhelmed and decided to sell, you didn't get a second chance.
I would not have tried a second attempt anyway...once burned, twice shy.@@GuyWithTheDogs

Seeing the coloring books really pulls at my heart strings. The child that colored those pictures grew up and is now gone.
It’s called the circle of life 😮
