For how good bowe was he wasn't always the most defensively responsible and shipped some punishment over the years in fights add that with the thousands of rounds of sparring he did too probably just a lot of shots to the brain so 20-25 years later its gonna catch up like it has done for Bowe,Toney,hearns and even Shane Mosley nowadays don't speak as clearly as he use to.

Bowe wanted a few easy paydays after the war against Holyfield in their first fight. The WBC were making Lewis the mandatory. He didn’t want to risk his title when he’d just won it. Then unfortunately he lost his titles and was lazy between fights blowing up in weight and it never happened.
Remember lennox his record should never be forgotten he never liked losing....

To be fair that stoppage was a bit prematurate. I'm not sure but Bowe looks a bit out on his feet, he's wobbling, but he recovered quickly. Anyway Lennox was the best at smelling blood and finishing the job, he would have capitalized on this opportunity imo.

Bowe ducking Lewis is overblown because of the whole trash can incident. When Bowe and Lewis emerged as the top two of the HBO tournament between Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, and Ruddock, Rock Newman was a prick and tried lowballing Lennox and played A-side games with LL's promoter Frank Maloney. Both Bowe and his trainer Futch wanted that fight and felt they'd win. (I think an in shape Bowe at that time would crushed the pre-Steward version of Lewis). When Frank rightfully told Rock to f-off, Bowe fought Dokes. Rhe reason he fought Boogeyman Ferguson, as pathetic as it was, wasnt so much Bowe's fault because Mercer shockingly lost to Boogeyman, (famously trying to bribe him in-fight so he wouldn't miss his Bowe shot). Then the fight was on with Lewis, I think for 32M. But Lennox went and got knocked out by rhe Atomic Bull, and that was the end of Bowe-Lewis.
Bowe was the A side he was undisputed. Lennox and now Ms.Frank Malony didn't want the 2 or 3mil and 13mil in 93. Even though Bowe got 5mil to fight Holyfield for the title. They had a month to negotiate or the WBC was going to strip Bowe regardless. Similar to Bud with the IBF for not fighting Boots. Both Spence and Holyfield with rematch clauses too. Lewis and Maloney stalled as much as they could complaining 90/10 when their was no contract signed and no set venue. Newman had the dumb idea to bring Lewis's team to the negotiating table by dumping the belt and it worked.
To Newman's credit he tried more than Lewis and Maloney did and actually got them to sign the contract.
Lewis got greedy and took the winner take all deal for 32. Possibly overlooked McCall getting ready for Bowe in March. Lewis has always been about money. He fought for the brits for money and gave Vitali 1.1 while he took 7 with no promised rematch to Vitali and on short notice. Unfortunately that should've been Byrd Vitali replaced Kirk Johnson but Byrd earned his shot twice with Lewis getting stripped of the IBF.
I hated Prince's antics. I felt they were over the top. But his overall ability is aa good or better than anyone who ever laced them up pound for pound.
