I love this episode - the very first Columbo. Kathrine Justice is gorgeous and the scene where Columbo tells her he knows all about the murder is brilliantly played.
I had no idea Dave Grusin did the music to this episode. I wasn't a big fan of Columbo as a kid. It just something watch at dinner time. That has changed as I'm now watching these retro TV shows on my FireStick. I saw Dave Grusin with brother Don Grusin in concert in Littleton Colorado in 1990. Cool!
Thanks Kevin. I'm a big Dave Grusin fan myself. Wish he would have scored more of these Columbo episodes. Here is the link to my Dave Grusin film music playlist in case you're interested. Most of it non-release and extracted directly from the films. th-cam.com/play/PLXCALJAH2Zp5Z3GvJ9aIy2U1caTwXAcge.html
Thank you for posting it. For me it is the most catching music of all the Columbo series. Whole movie evil mood, columbo mood and at the very end so lovely mood... love it!
I was in the sixth grade graduating from elementary school but I still remember this columbo cut Gene Barry I believe was columbo's first movie but it was a masterpiece David gershon musical soundtrack masterpiece classic they nailed it God bless you guys and your families thank you
I love Grusin. Pity this great music isn't on CD! Very first pilot (before it became a full series) with the awful Gene Barry; and William Windom. The second pilot 'Ransom For a Dead Man' didn't air till 1971. Thanks for all your hard work on this one. Great!
@@MRJAZZCAT-wr2su Yeah, thanks. Big Gene Barry fan here. War of the Worlds was great. Also Bat Masterson. I was raised on actors like him. They were all unique in their own way.
You're welcome Antonio. I'll be working on extracting the music from each episode and uploading them individually. It's a huge project and will probably take a month or two to complete. If you liked this video please click the "like" button. Thanks. Cheers!
I love love love Columbo shows…all binge watch all the episodes over and over❤😊

Well said Thomas. Glad you liked it. Cheers!
Also has a very late 60s feel to it, which sets it apart from the great music of the 1970s episodes.
... and these unsettling flutes (enhanced with tape recorder echo, I think)!!
Same here I love the music
8:50 this is my favorite tune I repeat it every time its so beautiful😊
Definitely great theme music and scene music. This, and Gil Melle's version of the closing music, defines the series.
