    I have a suggestion for your sponge filter in the tank with the big fish. if you get some pvc pipe you can drill large holes in it an inch or so wide like a waffle. then slide the sponge filter inside the pipe, the pipe could be larger then the sponge filter and you could stack a few to give even more filtration. could fill the bottom with something to keep it waited down.or use cap on end of pipe and fill with gravel just enough to keep it from floating.. anyways just a suggestion for Josh since he mentioned it. just an idea if you want to try it. have a great day :) ♥

    Deionization Resins, or more appropriately, Ion Exchange Resins, are made of Polymer Beads that are 0.5-1mm in diameter. They are either negatively charged (anions) or positively charged (cations). These are used in conjunction to remove ionic contaminants from your water source.

    great video and a good review on how to filter in general... I only miss information on the last step of the total cleaning cycle : nitrates ! For example the ratio : natural nitrate reduction by your pothos versus extra waterchanges needed to keep nitrates low. Or maybe the use of nitrate resin... ? And what about the utilsation of minerals and spores (adding or changing water for that purpose) ?

    The problem is that the desalination of water requires a lot of energy. Salt dissolves very easily in water, forming strong chemical bonds, and those bonds are difficult to break. Energy and the technology to desalinate water are both expensive, and this means that desalinating water can be pretty costly.

    I want to see how those tubs with the filter floss on top of the 4000 tank are rigged up. Is it just a hole in the bottom? Abunch of holes, is it like a sump style setup with one in and one out?

    • @OhioFishRescue-com
      @OhioFishRescue-com  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you just cut a hole in the bottom the fiber floss would get stuck in it I use that white grating that you use in ceilings I cut me a piece that fits the bottom And I prompt it up on one side that's where I put the whole going out no fiber plus gets pulled out that hole I have the hose going in the top and then I try and do a trickle tray or a drip tray so that spreads the water around and goes through the fiber floss evenly

      Sad truth is no one knows our system like we Do. The knowledge required to care for many of the advanced level fish is just insane. If something happened to me and my dad, majority of fish would probably die. The amount of work we pump into this to try to help everyone is just astronomical. One thing goes wrong and it's a domino effect if you don't know how to correct it. I.e. feedings, water quality, power outages, pumps, air, and the list goes on. Thats why when we go somewhere one of us is always behind watching. Aquashella is the 1st time we've left together. But we prepared for it beforehand
