About once a week or so I go on a binge of watching reacts to Nightwish and Jinjer. It's never dull.
I have yet to see someone comment on the fact that Floor leaves the stage to give room to Empuu for his solo, to make sure that HE is the hero as she is so charismatic and magnetic. She does this on a regular basis to let the others shine, and this makes me happy as it shows true respect for each other.

True Story

The operatic vocal style was part of the Band since it was founded, with Tarja Turunen (their first singer) being a trained classical (operatic) singer. This song is acutally from Tarjas era but Floor kind of made it her own.
She's an allround trained opera singer / rock singer. Did 6 years rock academy and music-university in total. She teaches singing, while being a mom, a world star and much more... Her first metal band was the Dutch After Forever, but she also performed (and still does) as an opera singer in shows. The show 'Beste Zangers' (Dutch for Best Singers) from this summer is going all over the world because of her mind blowing performances during 8 weeks on Ibiza with a group of Dutch artists. Tuomas, the Keyboardist, is the brains behind the whole band. He was the one who put the band together back in 1996, and he also composes about 95% of their music as a whole.
I believe Symphonic Metal is one of the greatest things to happen in music, if not THE best (when it is done well). And Floor Jansen is the best thing to happen to Symphonic Metal.

Before you react to The Poet and The Pendulum, research the song and it's origin. The keyboardist writes almost all of the music and that song was from his heart.
Couldn't agree more with you. Knowing the backstory of The Poet and the Pendulum, along with having the lyrics handy, takes it to another level.
Tuomas pretty much writes all of Nightwish. Plus some of the band members help on some songs
Basically this song is the songwriter committing suicide on paper so that he did not do it in real life. The band went through a very bad time during the break up with their first singer back in 2005. It would be a great song for you guys to do.

Definitely Romanticide, since that's one of the best ones to have Marco and Floor handing vocals off to each other (and it has Floor going all the way up to a D6). Also the live version of Yours Is An Empty Hope from the 2015 cruise to get Floor's low fry on the chorus. When your soprano is singing under your tenor, it's an interesting effect.

Unleash the beast known as Floor Jansen and I mean beast in the most favorable way ever! Tarja was operatic but Floor can compete with her and o way more, Annette was poppy voice nowhere close to Tarja and so far away from Floor not even in the same breathe. Romanticide same concert, Poet and the Pendulum Wembley, The Greatest Show on Earth live at Tampere on and on she will send shivers down your spine.
I cant tell you how many reactions to this video I have watched. For the simple fact that I love Floor and this performance is mind blowing.
The whole show is mind blowing. This is THEIR Live After Death moment; if you remember how that live album elevated Maiden to new heights.

Thoumas(keyboardist) is the one that writes 95% of their songs, Marco (bass) joined 2002, Emppu(guitarist), Jukka(drums) had to step down do to some health issues in 2015 and replaced by Kai which plays drums with Wintersun also,Troy(multi instruments) 2015, 3 singers first was Tarja operatic vocals(1996-2005) 2nd Annette poppy vocals( 2006-2012) 3rd Floor as you saw she can do anything (2012- )
All their songs are best live not saying that studio is bad but they're mire of a touring band... other bands try Epica( Floor sings couple songs with them which are great) Within Tempation list can go on lol

Yup, Valkyrie Goddess was the first thing that came to mind after watching this performance as my introduction to Nightwish. Xena and Floor would either be the greatest of friends, or the worst of enemies. :D I love how she was dressed like Xena :)

Floor absolutely has the crowd in the palm of her hand. Its amazing. Someone mentioned Freddy Mercury level..that is a great comparison. Her stage presence is awesome...the fact she is six foot plus and dress like a viking queen doesnt hurt. I love her, she is so fkn talented. Great band, great reaction.
I think she also wears high heel boots, so that makes her even taller.
At this point, Floor was a "fill-in". The full time singer was in the hospital but they had shows to do. Floor was called and filled in on 48 hours notice. This was a little past that first moment, but STILL. To this day the woman blows my skull to pieces, and it's even better to see a dad and his daughter have this kind of amazing relationship together. I have two stepdaughters, both adults now, and I'm so glad to have that kind of connection with them. I don't have kids, but i have kids, yanno?

I'd advise Time first, easier to get into, and to me it's their best song, specially the live at Sonic Pump Studios version.
Jari (Wintersun guitar player,vocalist and songwriter) is much like Tuomas (main Nightwish songwriter), they write these epic, majestic songs and they're incredible. Despite being heavier and having low and high growling, Wintersun is as amazing as Nightwish, trust us. Looking forward to the reaction!

Or you can try some short ones like Everdream, Storytime, Weak Fantasy, Seven Days To The Wolves, Song Of My Self, Ghost River, Romanticide, Phantom Of The Opera. Of course there're some more peacefull like Sleeping Sun, The Islander, While Your Lips Are Still Red. The list is huge. Other great symphonic metal bands are Epica, Within Temptation & Xandria. Also a great band where is Symphonic Progressive is Kamelot as they're a big influence to Epica.

The first vocalist Tarja is also exceptionally good, Anette Olzon was not bad by any stretch off the imagination. But with Floor Jansen Nightwish really took it to the next level. You can also listen to Within Temptation and Epica if you like Nightwish.
Anette was just too different. Too much of a change in direction. As an entener and a singer though she was still very, very good.

Good reaction. Hope you do more from them. I can tell you something, Tarja Turunen, their first, original vocalist, was full opera style all the way, in all songs, she was amazing with them ( and she is still great solo ), but floor is more varied. She sings like this or she can be more rock and roll style, she can even do some growling, but fortunately they don't use that style much. Well you can have a great ride if you keep listening to this band. I would love to see more reactios from you. The Nightwish army is already here with you, so they will recommend lots of songs. You talked about the other singers: you have to listen to The Phantom of the Opera ( live End of an Era ) or Slaying the dreamer. The second vocalist is a little bit difficult to find live but you can try the video clips, some of them like Amaranth or Bye bye beautiful.
My favorite,"Sleeping Sun" with Tarja Turunen their first singer.

Problem with that song is that i start crying like a baby every god damn time I hear it... I’m a 31yr old male and have listen to nightwish since I was like 14 or something. And still, every god damn time I cry like a baby.
You really should react to nightwish phantom of the opera end of an era, so you can compare the original vocalist (Tarja) to the current one (Floor)

You are nice.. I like you and subscribed.. Only the last note we call a "Floorgasm ". The song was written when they were with the first singer Tarja and the end is a bit different(no Floorgasm). This ending is Floor addition to the song and we gratefully called it this way. That Wacken show is incredible in its entirety so you can choose whatever you want from it.
Still I think Song of Myself would be good choice as long as it shows a bit heavier side of Nightwish but still saves the epicness. More contemporary vocals in it but it is worth the time definitely..
Another symphonic metal band is Epica and you can check out the song Sancta Terra live Retrospect show where you can see Floor again as a bonus together with their also great singer..

From Norway here. I grew up listening to Nightwish when Tarja was the vocalist... it's always been an amazing band. But Yeah.... Floor just Floors me. She's been involved in many other projects... especially her work on Ayreon is amazing.

Love to hear her analysis, and yeah... Floor is about the best in her trade and switches effortlessly between different styles, from head voice, classical style, growling and belting.
Also... you must not forget the band. All skilled musicians. Tuomas is a genius!

Another band you should experience is Epica. Sugest you start with sancta terra Ft Floor Jensen. Amazing together.
First: respect, you've done your homework about the band pretty well. Instant "like" for this. Second: "the Floorgasm" is what you felt, specially after 15:50 on your video. Think your endorfine level has increase, because of the eargasm :) you were smiling with no apparent reason, your eyes were sparkling.. happens all the time :))
Yes, there are a lot of videos with this band, entire concerts. Something specific: their live version of any song is better than the studio track.

Please, Nightwish - The Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley 2016 next. But definitely do your research first. It makes the sing even more powerful when you know the story behind it.
Floor brings the emotion to the words and music. I liked Annette's version, until I heard Floor sing it.
Great reaction. a little FYI: Enya is Irish, but I can see your point, though I feel that Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards, composer) is touched by genius and puts Nightwish on a whole other level to most of what is out today. Add in the sheer talent and dynamic of everyone else in the band and throw in Floor's Stellar vocals, and well, we've got something special.

When it comes to adrenaline, Floor has said the first part of the song was the hardest.
This was like 2/3 into the set and there was audience of 82k people and they were waiting for just thus song. Not going all in in the first part was thus really hard, but to make the song work, she had to hold back.
The masterful way she builds and climaxes this song is at least 50% of the reason it's called a Floorgasm.
Check the first vocalist (Tarja) which has a even more operatic voice. Phantom of the opera live from End of an era is absolutely amazing.

There's only one official live condert video from Anette's era, the Scaretale with horribly low viddeo quality. And one live video from studio (Planet Hell). So she won't be reacted, except very seldom someone reacts albums.
And even more seldom someone reacts to a horrible video recorded from the audience by a fan.

You're right about the operatic style. I knew Floor when she was still studying and when she sang in local bars, it was very much that style. Throughout the years she really trained her voice to different styles and even became a vocal coach, and after her first band even went solo before joining Nightwish. We had drinks/dinner lots of times and she's really nice and deserves every bit of success she has from her music.

Floor's greatest strength is how she changes effortlessly between drastically different style of singing. She can have single notes back to back in a sliding scale of styles, just moving from one to the next like it is... nothing.
Nightwish - Storytime live at Wacken. Floor goes full blown Angelic in that one! You'll know when you hear it.
