I'm kinda addicted to watching reactions to this song. This is one of my favorites just because of this guy's not afraid to stop the song and appreciate all the little shit.
@@johnowen9658 Same thing. watched the original vid.. maybe 20 times today.. and perhaps 10 reaction vids. alex hefner (and his mom) was my fave so far)
I'm addicted to Ghost Love Score reactions apparently. TH-cam keeps suggesting them and I keep watching them and you my friend, did not disappoint. I absolutely loved how you had to watch that ending 4 times! That ending is something else.
4:02 and he already goes "bro, the range in her voice!" and i'm like "bro, you really don't know what's coming at you..." I enjoyed your reaction. Floor is a gift !
Sotiris Choutos I know! Been listening to Nightwish since I was 8 and Tarja Turunen is my top idol singer! 😍 She has the voice of an angel with the strength and presence of a war goddess!
Floor is an expert at ambushing the uninitiated. She comes in at a higher skill level than most other singers, and you think you know what you're in for. But she's only at 20%, and slowly unveils all of the weapons in her arsenal until she's ready to deliver the deathblow. Drops my jaw every time.
Tobias Bousch It truly is. They’ve now come an anniversary album and have been touring with it since March. Although they were sneaky and didn’t put Come Cover Me on it, and now don’t have it on fucking Spotify REEE 😂
They’re now bigger than they were when they had Tarja, which is saying something. They had to move venues in London in 2015, to Wembley Arena. I went to see them live at Wembley almost two weeks ago, they were fantastic.
Don't kick yourself too hard. Tarja was the original, and created a lot of the mystique of the Nightwish sound. I was turned off by Anette...the pop voice didn't cut it...its seemed as though the magic was gone. When I heard they hired Floor, I immediately came back. If you had ever heard Floor before, you would have know she was the perfect singer for Nightwish. Glad to have you back in the fold again.
This is what happens when a 6'1" classically trained Amazon soprano with pipes plated in gold decides to show you what she's got....oh, no biggie, let me just humble and thoroughly shake 40,000 people to the core in a single instant. That's not a gift...it's a weapon.
I see you going around to different Ghost Love Score reactions posting this comment :P I think just like me, Ghost Love Score reaction videos is your kink :P
@@stefinatorr Funny thing is, this *has* to be one of the most reacted/reviewed songs lately! There are just TONS of them. This particular performance is 5+ years old, so why now...who knows??? But it's GREAT. I think I've seen most of them myself as well.
the band has so many issues , their biggest mistake was lettin anette go , i mean after tarja people put it down to her being a diva , too many questions now , well see if floor leaves lol
Good thing you couldn't see me.I fell in love as soon as her mouth opened and the first words came out of her mouth. I am 52,I have been listening to metal most of my life,no other singer, male or female has made me want to meet them or go to a concert.I like live music but I hate being in crowds.I would put up with the crowd to see her and the band. To hear her voice live could be a religious experience.
Same with Alex, the HipHopHead reacting to metal. His face.. His face looked like he'd seen an angel, he could hear wedding bells ring, he was planning to have kids with her and grow old together after the first 2 notes :D
That last note is called a Floorgasm. I have seen where other people have given you some background information. They are considered a symphonic power metal band. They have been around for 20+ years. They come from Finland. The keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their songs. They have had 3 singers. #1 was Tarja Turunen. She was with them until 2005. After they fired her(long story, different versions) they hired #2 Anette Olzon. She was with them until mid tour 2012 when they let her go (another long story). Then they hired #3 and current singer Floor Jansen. The bassist is Marco who also does vocals. The guitar player(one of the originals) is Emppu. The first drummer's name is Jukka. He had to quit touring due to health reasons in 2015. He is in this video and he is still with the band as the CEO of their company. Jukka got his good friend Kai Hahto from the band Wintersun to play the drums and he is still with Nightwish. Back when Floor became a member of the band Troy Donockley came on board. He is a multi instrumentalist and does vocals. This is the background of the band members and what they do. This song is from the concert at Wacken 2013. Any song from this concert is great. The other live performances are the End of an Era concert, live at Wembley Arena concert, and live at Tampere concert. There are other live ones but these are the best ones. Welcome to the Nightwish community. I am going to warn you that Nightwish fans are die hard. I look forward to going on this Nightwish journey with you. I am done babbling. I hope this helped............. :-) New subscriber!
No, I saw them in Helsinki last saturday, same venue where the End of era was. Gladly this wasn’t end of any era ;). It was last concert of Decades tour. No we just have to wait for a new album.
Emma quirke, did you get the ticket only to be told that the lead singer had left?what were you expecting?then to realise that you probably witnessed one of the greatest concerts ever.i’ve seen pink Floyd at Wembley which was mind blowing.but I wish I had been there with you.
@@stephendicks3239 Not Emma, but I was at Wacken '13 - I bought my ticket knowing nightwish was going to be there, but I was also at the infamous Denver show where Annette got sick the year before and then fired. This whole show was epic, the whole weekend was awesome, really no downsides.
Welcome to the magical world of Nightwish! :D Your face when Floor started singing was priceless, as was the incredulous awe later on. Don't worry, she does that to everyone, everyone falls instantly in love. :D And yeah, this wasn't even her really trying to push her limits. She has nearly four-octave range, incredible control and musicality, and she can do anything from growls to operatic stuff. Plus the stage presence of a valkyrie queen, obviously. Nightwish has been around since '96 when they started out in a small town in Finland, and they've been through three lead vocalists. Floor Jansen has been with them since 2012 and many fans consider her the best of the three though each one has their own fans. They're god-tier symphonic metal, basically, there is no one who can truly match them. Their keyboardist and primary songwriter Tuomas Holopainen is a genuine musical genius and a composer his idol Hans Zimmer now considers an equal. Anyway! Other song suggestions: Storytime, Song of Myself and Romanticide from this same show (live at Wacken 2013), Élan official music video, The Poet and the Pendulum live, The Greatest Show On Earth live (it's 20 minutes long but worth every second!).
Those suggestions.. damn son, Storytime? Elan!? really now, Elan? give the original Nightwish some love bro. It was their best period until olzon came to the band. I love floor since invisible circles era but she's not NW's signature voice neither nightwish are the band they used to be even if they got "bigger" and more pop-ular, it's just a tuomas'es band now. For example empuu nowadays seems like a session musician totally in the background music-wise. I miss the days with the circle pits and full on metal at their shows, the softer and cheesier music in the last non-Tarja albums drive me away making Epica their trully heirs who still stand on their ground getting better and better, just my taste and opinion Come on really now.. Elan?!?! you're trolling right? of all the back catalogue of their glorious career you suggested storytime and Elan?! xD
Funny enough, I'm becoming an addict to Jukka and his drumming -- it's complex yet addicting. I totally get the addiction to singing along with Floor, lol!
Floor Jansen makes it look easy, but what she does in this song is very difficult. It looks effortless because she's damn good, that's all. She has been singing since she was 18 and she's a vocal coach, so she has perfect control of her breathing, the notes, the body position... her technique is flawless and she can sing literally anything she wants, metal, rock, pop, opera...
lol i've watched this reaction a few times now and i always thought he said "Kevin felt that shit" and i'm just sitting here like who the fuck is Kevin? xD
God always gives the talent -- it's up to us on how to use it. In this case, I think that Floor chose to give everybody Floorgasms, lol. Floor's talent is so raw, so natural, that it is like a rare wine: It can only get better with age -- and that's saying something. :)
Holy f'ing shitballs !! I have never heard of this band before now, but I think I might have witnessed Xena blessed with the voice of a Goddess. Just bought the album. I believe I have been Floorgasmed o_O
Welcome to the Nightwish family! The Once album that this is off has their first vocalist, Tarja Turunen, in case it seems a little jarring. That was the last one that she did with the band, and the next two albums afterwards (Dark Passion Play - which The Poet and the Pendulum is off, I can see people begging Preston to listen to that in the comments - and Imaginaerum) have Anette Olzon on the mic. Floor has only been with the band from 2013, and only has, at present, one album with her on vocals - Endless Forms Most Beautiful. On tour though, they do some of the older stuff - some of which, before Wembley, hadn't been done in ten years. Enjoy your journey through the discography, if you decide to take it. It's a hell of a ride.
Yeah... that was basically my response when I discovered Nightwish a few months ago. Now I have ALL their albums! Another operatic/symphonic metal band to check out is EPICA. Do it. Do it now.
@@KaiHarper89 I bought the "Showtime, Storytime" album because I kinda want to hear this performance solidly for the next 3 weeks. I'm not sure that a studio album could be better than this, but give me time dude ! I'll be working on it :)
@@gh8447 Originally, the first thought in my head was that it reminded me of Within Temptation, who I also love. I'll be looking up Epica soon. Only so many hours in the day man ! ;)
lol Remember when you could barely find a Nightwish video on TH-cam, official or not? I do. And now I’ve been watching these reaction-vids for months, Floor continuously recruiting new fans time and time again... I’ve seen them live in multiple countries dating back to the Tarja day’s and it’s glorious to see how they’re gaining so much more momentum and fame with each passing day. Welcome to the family! 🤘🏻😌
some people criticize reaction channels, but they are one of the best ways to raise awareness for bands and plus how do you not enjoy watching people enjoy your favorite music. so many people in the comments alone discovering Nightwish and in some cases rediscovering. lol
I'm totally addicted to watching these reaction videos of Nightwish with Floor, lol. You're right - this is so wonderful to see more and more people discovering them. And they all react the same way I did when I first heard them - pure and utter awe. Makes me so happy.
Thanks for adopting me. I new only of NightWish from Tarja and the track Nemo. Then I got introduced to Floor Jansen through Epica Sancta Terra ft Floor live Retrospective which is still today my favorite live performance from Floor and that's saying something.
When I first saw this performance, I actually brought the complete video back several times. I knew the song from when Tarja was still in the band. That vocal exhibition in the end was not there. A million details about the vocals were not there before, that's all Floor. She made a real difference to how the song feels.
@@flashpeter625 Ghost Love Score was not my first Nightwish music experience. Phantom of the Opera live with Tarja and Marco WAS my introduction to Nightwish. I came VERY late to the party, but after hearing Tarja and Marco kill Phantom, I was immediately a new Nightwish fan. Then I heard that Tarja had been fired way back in 2005. I thought, how the Hell do you replace a singer with the operatic range of Tarja Turunen? Then I discovered Ghost Love Score live at Wacken and witnessed the power and the glory that is Nightwish now fronted by Floor Jansen. And I realized THAT is PRECISELY how you replace a vocalist as seemingly irreplaceable as Tarja Turunen: You get someone who is EVEN BETTER. You get Floor Jansen. And, by doing so, you give your devoted followers a Floorgasm, night after night after night. AND, better still? You get hundreds if not thousands of brand new Nightwish fanatics who hear THIS song, Ghost Love Score, live at Wacken, with Floor Jansen, and become INSTANT fans of this amazing band. I think KTF should also react to another video that I discovered not too long after hearing this Wacken performance of this song. There is a gentleman on TH-cam who put together an excellent version of Ghost Love Score live that features BOTH Tarja AND Floor singing the song. And what I discovered right away was how vastly superior Floor Jansen's version is when compared side by side with Tarja's. Floor ABSOLUTELY KILLS IT and Tarja's version in comparison looks weak and anemic, utterly devoid of any power or majesty. Floor not only kills it, she has vastly superior command of the stage, power and majesty to spare, AND she has the entire massive Wacken crowd eating right out of her hand AND she totally gives the band ALL the accolades it deserves right after she just utterly killed the ending vocal, whereas Tarja just finished singing and abruptly walked off-stage, as though she just could not possibly be bothered to acknowledge the frenzied adoring throngs of people OR her killer band. And it became instantly apparent that Floor Jansen, the stunningly beautiful, astoundingly vocally gifted singer from Holland/the Netherlands, rescued the Finnish symphonic metal titans that are Nightwish. (Most of my own personal family heritage is Dutch, so I might be a little biased towards Floor because of that.)
Preston...NEVER apologize for going back and listening, that’s why I LOVE your channel! You actually appreciate the music. You are so genuine and your excitement for music is contagious! Much love to my KTF family💜✌🏼🙏🏼🔥🔥🔥💜
Congrats for your first floorgasm. Floor Jansen provokes intense goosebumps. She once cried while singing this song in Chile. She said this is her favorite Nightwish song
Classic? Opera? Metal? I don't know what that was, but it was epic. I like how they gave each member a time to shine and her voice is insane. Shes like a dark super women.
It is easy to see how people can fall in love with a voice! Floor is a goddess. Check out 'Romanticide' live from Wacken! Just a "blow your hair back" performance!! Love your reaction, Preston!
You've just opened pandora's box bro. Nightwish fans are hardcore. They visit every reactor to educate and recommend relentlessly and passionately. Nightwish is on their 3rd singer (Floor Jansen - pronounced Yansin), who you just watched. She literally saved the band when their second singer, Annette Olzon, had to drop out mid tour. The band had to volunteer 2 female singers from the other band Kamelot who they were touring with just to do the show (not the one you watched, but one 8 months earlier). After that show, they called up Floor and asked if she'd be able to fill in for the rest of the tour. She accepted but had only 48 hours to learn their set list. Not only did she learn the lyrics and timing of the verses/ect, she sang that shit so well, everyone was dumbfounded. She helped them finish off the tour and they all decided she should be the new singer for good. Their first singer, Tarja Turunen ("Tar-ya"), had a very opratic vocal style (even more than iron maiden) , which at the time they formed was uncommon. But fans got attached to her. After she got married and had kids, she developed a lot of creative differences with the band to the point they decided to part ways. That's when they hired on Annette. But she didn't sing opratic, she was much more poppy. She couldn't do most of Tarja's songs and she was quite horrible live (they hardly ever released live performances with her because she just didn't cut it). Most fans dropped off when Annette joined. But when Floor came on, she was able not only to sing both Tarja and Annette songs, but she does it significantly better than both of them. Old skewl fans came back for Floor. The founder and main composer of 95% of all the music and lyrics is the keyboardist, Toumas Holopainen ("Too-moss"). Much of what he writes is very personal, very theatrical, and very poetic. Mostly it is just happened to turn out that way because of Tarja's opratic vocal style (which he didn't plan, it was just discovered).
The fans left because they totally blind sided Tarja out of the band. There is no way to sugar coat that shit into something even closely related to acceptable behavior. They lost me there... That was just brutal. After a gig they just handed her a letter and that was it. Floor is very good though, Anette could not hold a candle to the other two and that just added to their ugliness. It has been so many years now that it is time to forgive and forget, but that shit in 2006 was not cool in any way or shape. Tarja had a darker sound to her vocals that still resonates really hard. Floor has a more clear sound. Both are sopranos and so was Anette, but she didn't have the skill to do this. You should check something with Tarja as well... As in 2006 or older.
@@timometsanoja9666 excelent put, some songs still match Tarja's voice better. i really can't choose, some songs i love Floor over Tarja, some i love Tarja over Floor.
@@atlanteean well, maybe I may not be able to forget this, but forgiveness time is here. Music goes on. It was 12 years ago that they did this, Floor Jansen has been the lead vocalist for 6 years now... I would love to see Nightwish with both Tarja and Floor on stage belting out some of the old ones. That would be extremely nice to see, but I don't see this happening. Too much bad water has been spilled over here. But it would be really nice to see that. And we can always dream.
I never saw them live with Tarja but I did see them with Annette. The second time I saw them was actually when Annette canceled in Denver (was hospitalized) and I got to see Amaranthe's singer and The Agonists lead singers sing (they were touring with them through Kamelot) and the show was actually phenomenal. The guys in the band are so talented and with the other singers stepping in it actually was one of my favorite live concerts. They are just oozing talent. They asked us if we wanted our money back or if we wanted them to go on with the show the best they could. As we Nightwish fans are die hards of course we voted to go on with the show. lol
There's also so much good material on :The Holographic Principle" too ... (and the EP of omitted material, "The Solace System"): "Beyond the Matrix" & "Universal Death Squad" and the title track are phenomenal examples of symphonic metal ...
That was fun. Dude. I gotta say I've seen probably 30 reactions to this song and you're the only one to give any credit to her return to the stage. With the hair flip and that jab she throws. That's SO SO SO commanding. Such a power move. Nice to see someone finally address it.
God I wish Floor would see this reaction... she would be so flattered when you repeat it and say..heaven felt that shit😂 now she's from my country..but I need to make sure she will see this reaction!💯
Right? I just recently heard/read something about Floor being initially intimidated and nervous about filling the shoes of the great Tarja. She was actually afraid of being rejected by the fans somehow, in a similar fashion to how they did not warm up to Ana (sp?). Isn't it funny how the most amazing talents seem to harbor the most insecurity and self-doubt, meanwhile, hacks and frauds are running around so full of themselves.
@@BlackieNuff That's because people with insecurities and self doubt have a natural drive to constantly better themselves. Prideful people with too much self confidence generally dont.
@ Tino Nurmi Right? Prideful people are too content in their own hubris to ever try to be better, perfectly satisfied to simmer in mediocrity, passing it off as competence, experience, or skill. Meanwhile, insecure people never feel they achieve or are "enough" and keep striving to improve.
Welcome to the Nightwish Universe. They do not know how to put on a bad performance. Type in Nightwish live... Pick a song and enjoy. That is how it is. You load up this concert "wacken 2013" Wembley, Tampere, any of them. Be ready, An army of followers will click this video. They will spout out songs. Trust they are all good. You have only seen one facet to a multi faceted diamond here. They have so much to bring to the table. Enjoy them, explore them. You will find that most other things will kind of be boring to watch after a while.
That’s another one fallen under their spell. There were 82 thousand people in that crowd and she had every one of them in the palm of her hand. The Greatest show on earth live @ Tampere, Nightwish’s 21 minute masterpiece.
I'm 61 years old and I enjoy ALL kinds of music, but only few Reactioneers(?). You are my favorite!!!! Young man, I love watching you feel the voices, the sounds, and magic, which is the music!! Goosebumps forever!
Chris Schilling When your skin crawls, it's usually considered a bad thing, because most of the time one's skin crawls out of fear, terror, or just generally being freaked out OR creeped out. Not really words I would choose to describe my own feelings every time I hear this Masterful, majestic song.☺ But, my hair standing up and getting goose bumps from the epic, sonic category 5 hurricane that is Nightwish featuring the mind blowing Floor Jansen and those astonishing epic vocal Floorgasms? Yeah, my friend, THAT I can TOTALLY relate to.☺
What makes this even more impressively vocally is that this song is the song they end their shows with. So this is her voice after 2+ hours of performing. She's an absolute goddess, and the band is musically and technically amazing. Check out their song "The Poet and the Pendulum" live at Wembley to be amazed again.
Not true, they usually ended their shows with Last Ride of the Day. And so they did on this Wacken 2013 concert. Now they do it with Greatest Show on Earth a lot.
Tuomas holopainen is the song writer and maestro of nightwish. He is also the founder and leader of the group. He is the Keyboard player....but yes.... Floor Jansen brought her own style that just completes the band to a height that I don't think they will ever reach again.
Gaga is a phenomenal singer. She never do lip sync or playbacks. Just because you might not like her music or her voice, does not make her a bad singer/vocalist. She is an extremely good singer. Just as Floor is^^
honestly all of those singers can go soak for either being not very nice people or not very good singers but gaga not so much after hearing her do the sound of music medley, and how friendly and loving she was towards Julie Andrews asking her permission and then ther help with singing it. anything Julie Andrews sang in her time is so dificult to replicate well and GaGa did an amazing job, i would also love to hear floor sing that medley as im sure she would kill it too.
"Heaven felt that shit bro" LMAO i don't think anything can prepare him for it, but we've been equipping him with experience, so at least he''ll come out in one piece :P and if you know him at all, that's exactly why he will react to it
Everyone would probably forget about the football game if Nightwish played at half time. I mean there would be so many Floorgasms not one would be able to focus on the second half.
I don't know how it started and why so many people are making reaction vids to Nightwish but that's really cool to see a great band less underrated! And it's great to see people giving a try to music genres they don't usually listen to, keep it open-minded!!
Well, it's not THAT hard to not know them when you've not already been into Metal before 😉 oh and I can really recommend the whole Nightwish Concert from Wacken 2013, it's heavenly bliss! (But if you lack the time, at least listen to Ever Dream)
She is a beast... And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. Every time she hits those choruses and high notes, a tear comes to my eye. Every damn time!!! And I just discovered them within the last couple of weeks.
Sometimes they come; its usually smaller venues tho. I went to a concert they did in 2015; and damn, I didn't think anybody could do the Tarja songs quite right; and then Floor pulled off some of the hardest songs in their discography; it did not disappoint.
I saw them in like the seediest, crappiest hole in the wall venue in Chicago in 2012, like 5 days before Anette quit. It was...… a performance not worthy of Nightwish, to say the least. At least their show wasn't sold out though! And they played Over the Hills and Far Away, which was neat!
Saw them in Worcester a year or two back, killer performance, but not actually a great concert for me. They had a highly-produced movie projected behind them and played the setlist as fast as they could with no real breaks. I felt that the movie completely broke the connection with the crowd. (Also too loud of course so I couldn't really hear enough of the musicianship, but what concert isn't.) They didn't do an encore because Floor had a baby, which is totally understandable, but I would have preferred maybe one less song and a brief pause to build tension for the last song and get the audience excited and feel satisfied. But the main issue is I was there for the band, not the movie.
Here's a little list of songs of theirs you will probably appreciate; Bare Grace Misery, Beauty and the Beast, Bless the child, Come Cover me, Crimson Tide, Crownless, Dark Chest of Wonders, Dead Boy's Poem, Dead to the World, Deep Silent Complete, Elvenpath, End of All hope, Ever Dream, Fantasmic, Feel for You, Forever Yours, Gethsemane, Ghost Love Score, Lagoon, Moondance, Nemo, Ocean Soul, Romanticide, Sacrament of Wilderness, She is my Sin, Slaying the Dreamer, Sleeping Sun, Sleepwalker, Stargazers, Swanheart, The Greatest Show on Earth, The Kinslayer, The Phantom of the Opera, The Riddler, Two for Tragedy, Walking in the Air, Wanderlust and Wish I had an Angel
Nightwish press statement / July 15th, 2019 (Photo credits: Timo Isoaho) Nightwish has begun working on their 9th studio album, set to be released during spring 2020. Below you will find a statement from Jukka Nevalainen, who`s been the drummer in the band since their 1997 debut album “Angels Fall First”: “It has now been five years since my difficult decision, due to severe insomnia, to step aside from the Vehicle of Spirit of Nightwish. This included the previous studio album and the tours which followed. As I then expected, it turned out to be the right thing to do. These days I'm doing fantastic, and hardly ever need to deal with any sleeping issues. It also dawned on me that having more time to merely focus on band - related things happening behind the curtains made all the difference. Having said this, I have decided not to push my luck by returning to the band. My dear pal Kai Hahto will take my place as a full-time member of the band. I will continue to take care of the band`s businesses in the background, and I`m very much looking forward to what other adventures life has to offer! My sincere thank you`s for the band and the fans for the glorious time we shared!“ Jukka Jukka is the drummer in this video, Kai is the drummer in "Poet and the Pendelum"
@@petethorley5998 this is very true. Nightwish has been my gateway drug into metal (Nemo, specifically). Many of the other bands I started listening to back then I don't really follow any more these days, but I'll be damned if I'm not excited as a little kid each time I hear Nightwish are producing a new album ...
Nightwish has an incredible range of musical skills (all members) and they know how to combine it with a great show.. and is arguably one of the best bands ever
I'll paraphrase Peter B.: In the beginning, God created music, and saw it was good. Then God created metal, and saw it was better. Then God created women metal singers, and saw that it was great. Then God created Floor Jansen, metal female vocalist perfection, and dropped the mic.
It's my new opinion that Floor Jansen is now the greatest singer on the planet and I say that because of her mastery of so many genres and her incredible vocal range and her beautiful vibrato.
Dont think i have ever heard a live performance executed in perfection like this! it's a once in a century performance. This is my favourite song of all time hands down. Heard this performance over a 100 times and each time i cant hold back the tears, thats how powerful this is to me. Floor Jansen is unreal.
You need to go to Europe on their concerts, in US the venues are small and there are restrictions on fireworks and all, but in Europe they go big, with all the bells and whistles and fireworks. And indeed, check also their other songs like Romanticide (heavier song), or Poet And The Pendulum (amazing), or The Greatest Show On Earth and much more. Nightwish is unique and Floor is just amazing.
Absolutely. Europe does well by them. It's the same with productions like Babymetal. They sell out 100,000 + "seat" venues on a regular basis yet they get booked in second or third tier venues in the US. It's a real shame.
@QueenBee 1980 In that case, if you have a chance, try to also go on Rammstein shows, those are absolutely amazing as well :) @Dyan Hogue True enough, which is sad since people will miss so much this way. I guess on one hand they're afraid that there won't be enough audience for a big venue, but on other hand they need to do better marketing, plus not to underestimate people - people know way more about various bands then these organisers think, thanks to the Internet.
OMG real?! Please go looking for the 20 years of music they have, and please, look for the others Finnish metal bands. You wont regret. Wintersun, Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian, And so hundreads.
What you felt after hearing That note in the end is called 'FLOORGASM' Bro. She is one hell of a lady.. Her name is Floor Jensen, 6 foot tall with an incredible Vocal Pipe. And she is humble, smart, intelligent and down to earth. Looks like she has more in that pipe as well. She is the Goddess of Metal. Queen of the Amazon and badass front women of Nightwish has ever had.. She is the third Vocalist for the band and bro, She makes every songs of nightwish her own!! Their last vocalist quit during their tour. They asked Floor for temporary replacement. She learned all the 16 Nightwish songs within 48 hours prior to the next gig!!! Imagine that!! Plus, they never use AUTOTUNE like some others do in Live Concert. This is pure and raw talent..As you've said, we have to APPRECIATE it..
@David Ralte, Her name is Floor Jansen (not Jensen), she's from the Netherlands and former singer in the bands Revamp & After Forever. @King KTF: You should check out Epica - Sancta terra (with Floor Jansen) & Epica - Consign to Oblivion (Live At the Zenith). I think you will like that too.
@David Ralte bro, please check your info. As a 20+ years Nightwish fan I can tell you that not Tarja or Anette (lead singers) "quit" - they were kicked out, and pretty cold heartedly too!
necessitousfox : I disagree with the statement about being cold-hearted. First, Tarja got married, and her husband started acting as her agent. That led to what the band felt were impossible demands, then led to the Open Letter. How much of that is true, I'm not sure. But from that letter and it's context, Tarja was really kicked out over her own actions and how they were incompatible with what Nightwish was trying to do to make their money. Because of Tarja's concentration on her solo career, she became a lot more selfish towards the end. As for Anette: She got pregnant, and then let her personal life interfere with Nightwish's contractual obligations (aka cancelling shows). Tuomas and Marco had already dealt with that with Tarja, and did not want to deal with that again -- which is why the two singers were brought in for the Denver concert, and why Floor was contacted. Just saying, there is info out there about what actually happened, and knowing that would make a better opinion...it sounds as if you haven't read why those things happened between 2003 and 2012. @@isaiahwelch8066 well, people can interpret exactly same things differently. Have you ever listened Tarja's press conference (1,5 hour long) after that open letter?
@@Justin-nq6kf I`ve only heard Awakening and was not too impressed. They are obviously very good musicians, but it felt like they were playing fast for the sake of playing fast, much like Dragonforce. I´m not saying it was bad, just lacked a little subtlety.
@@Justin-nq6kf Maybe subtlety is the wrong word. I just think that sometimes they should have slowed down a little (the drummer in particular). Some parts felt like a race, where they try to outperform each other. Just my personal impression. Like I said, they`re not bad, just not for me.
floor is the perfection of human evolution. she can sing, she can dance, she can growl and she is beauty as f***. saw them live a month ago in berlin. it was awsome. great rection, best i saw in a while.
I saw lots of GLS reactions, but I keep coming back to this one. Love it. A musiclover reacting to unheard songs, not a "vocalcoach", not a "musician" knowing everything better, and most important noone with patreon asking me for 25 bucks to keep saying "oh wow" during a 10 minute video. This is genuine, I love it!
I'm so glad you liked this! For a brief history lesson on Nightwish: Nightwish is a symphonic metal band, and easily the most successful one (but there are a few others that are very successful too like Within Temptation and Epica). NIghtwish formed in 1996. They had three lead singers over the years. Their first singer (Tarja Turunen) was the singer in five of their albums. Their second singer is Anette Olzon and they recorded 2 albums with her. And their current singer (the one you just saw) is Floor Jansen and she has been in one album so far. All of their singers have pretty different styles, but I think that would be cool if you can discover the sounds for yourself. A great song to react to from their first singer (Tarja Turunen) is Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera (make sure you do the live version with over 50 million views) A great song to react to from their second singer (Anette Olzon) is Nightwish - Scaretale Official Live And for another song with Floor Jansen (the current singer): Nightwish - The Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley The first time I heard this, I also kept playing the ending over and over lol. It's so damn crazy
Truly, thank you Preston for introducing me to this band. I watched this video of yours on the day you released it and I became an instant fan. I have seen this performance probably nearing 100 times already, I've watched all reactions to it as well. Not to mention all of the other popular songs of theirs and the reactions to those, plus I'm playing their albums in my car while I drive around at work. I'm mesmerised by this band and I wonder how have I not heard their music before?? I've been on this planet for 42 years and I haven't heard anything like it. All my years growing up I never truly had a favourite band that I was a fan of 100%, so for once in my life when someone asks me who my favourite band is, I now have an honest answer that my soul is happy to share. Your video of Judas Priest - Painkiller also opened my eyes to their work, I now have all of their albums and they are fantastic too. Just another reason to dismiss mainstream radio and mainstream news, mainstream film and anything else mainstream. Some of the most important things in life are not in plain sight, they need to be discovered. It's a shame really, too many of us are stuck in our own bubbles and accept the fluff that gets pushed towards us, it's as though that's all there is to listen to, when in actual fact there is far greater music on offer. I will definitely be going to a concert when they return to Australia.
Hi mate,Im 40 now and listening Nightwish from my 22,so 18 years, but I never heart wrong song,I seen 3x live koncert with Tarja and always dreaming to be back. check every album since they started..... everyone is amazing. welcome to Nightwish family :) (Y)
I can absolutely understand you, sir. I've been a fan of this band since around 2004, so with me being 30 now, for pretty much exactly half of my life. They introduced me to metal, and my life has been so much richer and better for it that I couldn't even imagine what it would've been like without it, or who I would honestly even be now. When I think about it, they in part made me who I am. Not many other bands I listened to back then stayed favorites of mine, but Nightwish definitely still is. More than ever before, if possible. If there was one band I'd absolutely NEED to see live before I die, this is it (although Rammstein comes in a close second ... )
Every reaction I have seen for this masterwork is the same. A epiphany. That look of almost religious awe, every time I hear Floors' magic I almost weep

Tobias Bousch It truly is. They’ve now come an anniversary album and have been touring with it since March. Although they were sneaky and didn’t put Come Cover Me on it, and now don’t have it on fucking Spotify REEE 😂
Floor is fucking incredible. Especially live. Once you see them live, how they are now, makes me happy. They’re a family now, I love it.
I mean, it's understandable. The singer after Tarja wasn't.... nearly as good as Tarja was. Floor, on the other hand, is phenomenal.
This is what happens when a 6'1" classically trained Amazon soprano with pipes plated in gold decides to show you what she's got....oh, no biggie, let me just humble and thoroughly shake 40,000 people to the core in a single instant. That's not a gift...it's a weapon.

Russell Boynton It is.
Welcome to the magical world of Nightwish! :D
Your face when Floor started singing was priceless, as was the incredulous awe later on.
It is the greatest watching someone hear her hit that note on this video for the first time. You almost get to live it all over again.
Tarja was better.
@@zingyzippo5954 Like I said, each fan has their favourite. It's largely a matter of taste.
I miss the days with the circle pits and full on metal at their shows, the softer and cheesier music in the last non-Tarja albums drive me away making Epica their trully heirs who still stand on their ground getting better and better, just my taste and opinion
Come on really now.. Elan?!?! you're trolling right? of all the back catalogue of their glorious career you suggested storytime and Elan?! xD

Floor Jansen makes it look easy, but what she does in this song is very difficult. It looks effortless because she's damn good, that's all.

I'm totally addicted to watching these reaction videos of Nightwish with Floor, lol. You're right - this is so wonderful to see more and more people discovering them. And they all react the same way I did when I first heard them - pure and utter awe. Makes me so happy.

Yep my first NW concert was back in Century Child. Love it
I doubt about the sanity of anyone who doesn't bring back the video to listen to that final note at least three times.
And I realized THAT is PRECISELY how you replace a vocalist as seemingly irreplaceable as Tarja Turunen:
You get someone who is EVEN BETTER.
"Storytime " from the same album/concert ends just as great!!

As we Nightwish fans are die hards of course we voted to go on with the show. lol
Continue with Nitghwish.... and also go to EPICA!! (EPICA-CONSIGN TO OBLIVION)
@@BlackieNuff
YES!!
@@BlackieNuff That's because people with insecurities and self doubt have a natural drive to constantly better themselves. Prideful people with too much self confidence generally dont.
@ Tino Nurmi
Right?

??? did anyone else's skin crawl when she hit those high notes???? mine did and the hairs on my arms stood straight up!!!!
Huh? Oh, I see... Don't worry, you'll get used to it. To her. Only problem is: when you get used to her, every other singer becomes second rate. :-)
Chris Schilling When your skin crawls, it's usually considered a bad thing, because most of the time one's skin crawls out of fear, terror, or just generally being freaked out OR creeped out.
Not really words I would choose to describe my own feelings every time I hear this Masterful, majestic song.☺
But, my hair standing up and getting goose bumps from the epic, sonic category 5 hurricane that is Nightwish featuring the mind blowing Floor Jansen and those astonishing epic vocal Floorgasms?
Yeah, my friend, THAT I can TOTALLY relate to.☺
I listen to this particular performance like 2 years now - every time goose bumps. Every f...n time.
Chris Schilling hell yeah.....her voice is Amazing!! All there music is THIS GOOD 👍🏻
It isn't Nightwish but Answers from ffxiv gives me chills every time.
This is my first time hearing them. I appreciate you doing different genres because now I'm a fan. Absolutely Outstanding!!!
It was the third from last song in the setlist though.
Lady Gaga, Madonna, Katie Perry, Cardi B, and the rest of you waif-ish, candy coated show boaters, bow before the Viking Warrior Poet Queen!
Gaga is the real deal.
@@bojnebojnebojne she is also an outstanding classically trained pianist

"Heaven felt that shit bro" LMAO i don't think anything can prepare him for it, but we've been equipping him with experience, so at least he''ll come out in one piece :P
and if you know him at all, that's exactly why he will react to it
Could u imagine if they played a Super Bowl halftime show
With Trump's "Americans First" policy, you're NEVER going to get a Finnish band (e.g. Nightwish) playing at SuperBowl. Sorry!
Could u imagine if they did a Super Bowl as Nightwish halftime show? :D
I would actually watch the super bowl if a metal band played at the halftime show in modern times
@@Brummiemartin don't be seally. Trump doesn't control NFL or invite the entretainers to superbowl
Everyone would probably forget about the football game if Nightwish played at half time. I mean there would be so many Floorgasms not one would be able to focus on the second half.
The energy is just incredible I need to see this live! Her voice and the band is off the scale and the drummer just hammers that drum kit.
I don't know how it started and why so many people are making reaction vids to Nightwish but that's really cool to see a great band less underrated! And it's great to see people giving a try to music genres they don't usually listen to, keep it open-minded!!
Agreed 100%
Never heard nightwish before. I see I have been missing out on some epic music.
How could this happen. The band is so well known :D
Well, it's not THAT hard to not know them when you've not already been into Metal before 😉 oh and I can really recommend the whole Nightwish Concert from Wacken 2013, it's heavenly bliss! (But if you lack the time, at least listen to Ever Dream)
@@De-M-oN Not well known in America. Unfortunately.
@@Lyjeria It is well known even outside of metal o.O I mean, I've started listening to their music like a year ago but I knew of their existence
Better late than never! Lol
If you think the singer's range here is impressive you should see "Poet and the pendulum-live at Wembley" That performance is an absolute monster.
2 years after watching your reaction to this, it is still the best. No doubt.
She is a beast... And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. Every time she hits those choruses and high notes, a tear comes to my eye. Every damn time!!! And I just discovered them within the last couple of weeks.
"Need to find out when they're coming to my city." The beginning of the lament of every US Nightwish fan.
Bruh, I have never heard of Nightwish before your reaction. I am now a super fan of them instantly!! They get all the Don the Marcos...
Nightwish press statement / July 15th, 2019
Nightwish has begun working on their 9th studio album, set to be released during spring 2020.
Below you will find a statement from Jukka Nevalainen, who`s been the drummer in the band since their 1997 debut album “Angels Fall First”:
“It has now been five years since my difficult decision, due to severe insomnia, to step aside from the Vehicle of Spirit of Nightwish.
My sincere thank you`s for the band and the fans for the glorious time we shared!“
Jukka
Jukka is the drummer in this video, Kai is the drummer in "Poet and the Pendelum"
I am amazed they can bring it out so soon.
Love Kai but truly miss Jukka best to him and his family ❤❤

@@petethorley5998 this is very true.
Nightwish has been my gateway drug into metal (Nemo, specifically). Many of the other bands I started listening to back then I don't really follow any more these days, but I'll be damned if I'm not excited as a little kid each time I hear Nightwish are producing a new album ...
Nightwish has an incredible range of musical skills (all members) and they know how to combine it with a great show.. and is arguably one of the best bands ever
Watch the entire show.....Wacken 2013.
There are good singers. There are really good singers. There are great singers.
Then there is Floor Jansen.
then there is roy khan
I'll paraphrase Peter B.:
In the beginning, God created music, and saw it was good.
Then God created metal, and saw it was better.
Then God created women metal singers, and saw that it was great.
Then God created Floor Jansen, metal female vocalist perfection, and dropped the mic.
Tom P Tati is in a her own league with her growls
It's my new opinion that Floor Jansen is now the greatest singer on the planet and I say that because of her mastery of so many genres and her incredible vocal range and her beautiful vibrato.
"Heaven felt that shit." One of your most appropriate and memorable quotes from your reactions. This is one for the ages.
Dont think i have ever heard a live performance executed in perfection like this!
it's a once in a century performance. This is my favourite song of all time hands down.
Heard this performance over a 100 times and each time i cant hold back the tears, thats how powerful this is to me.
Floor Jansen is unreal.
And this song wasn't even written for her voice xD that's the best part about it.

@@Ashitaka1110 yeah, that was my mistake
@QueenBee 1980 In that case, if you have a chance, try to also go on Rammstein shows, those are absolutely amazing as well :)
@Dyan Hogue True enough, which is sad since people will miss so much this way. I guess on one hand they're afraid that there won't be enough audience for a big venue, but on other hand they need to do better marketing, plus not to underestimate people - people know way more about various bands then these organisers think, thanks to the Internet.
We just saw them at Manchester Arena last week. Totally epic!
Richard Lloyd I saw them in London. Phenomenal.
Vocals seem to have still the same resonants in a small venue.. have seen it done.. got the Floorgasms! 😁😁

I envy you, sir. Wish I could re-discover them for the first time again. As it stands, this band is the reason I'm a metalhead now.
Imagine this isn't even their best song. Their concerts rival the energy of Metallica back in their prime. This woman has a presence of a Goddess.
“She up there looking like Xena” couldn’t agree more.

Amen to all of that!
And please do not take what I have said here personally -- it was not intended as such.
@@isaiahwelch8066 well, people can interpret exactly same things differently. Have you ever listened Tarja's press conference (1,5 hour long) after that open letter?

great rection, best i saw in a while.
Totally agree with you !!!!
Never heard of this band before. I'm impressed, thanks for doing a reaction to them.
I cannot thank you enough, i had never heard of nightwish until your reaction and they are my new absolute favorite performers. They are fantastic!
A great song to react to from their first singer (Tarja Turunen) is Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera (make sure you do the live version with over 50 million views)
A great song to react to from their second singer (Anette Olzon) is Nightwish - Scaretale Official Live
And for another song with Floor Jansen (the current singer): Nightwish - The Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley
The first time I heard this, I also kept playing the ending over and over lol. It's so damn crazy
I have watched so many reactions to this song, but I always come back to yours because it is the best.

Better late than never, Leon!
If there was one band I'd absolutely NEED to see live before I die, this is it (although Rammstein comes in a close second ... )
