Now we get to REALLY dig in to the work!
Let's fix everything that's wrong and slap on some fresh paint.

Greetings from Michigan (lots of Finns here btw)! Recent subscriber, loving your videos. I have a recommendation for a video topic I haven’t seen anyone else do:
Mistakes You Can Fix vs. Mistakes That Ruin Your Build
I’m sure you have a lot of wisdom on the topic since you’re a fantastic teacher and transparent about the learning process. Just thought I would throw it out there.

      Heya!
That is an ABSOLUTELY fantastic idea for a video topic!
You're too kind, thank you. But that is definitely a worthy topic. And with the amount of mistakes made while starting out, I have plenty of examples to share from personal experience.

That's surprisingly close to the Plasticote "Lawn Green" paint I started spraying something in a few years ago. Then I dropped it, so hid the body from myself to go back to later on... :)

As much as I try not to paint solid colors on guitars, this color is reeeeal nice👌🏻

@@IPGuitars I can see where you're coming from, wood is lovely. But anyone can slap oil on a guitar - I think a good flat colour takes another level of skill and sets you apart from other builders because it's not something everyone can offer.

That is very true indeed. Because it is -if nothing else- very laborious to do right. Mostly why I opt not to do many of these (even though 100% of refinishes I have been asked to do lately have been exactly that😅) is because I don't like having a thick coat covering the guitar and pores. Have two coming up where I have to use grain fillers and most probably poly, but after that I'm going to try and knuckle down to stains, oil, and if clear coats are required thin acrylic clear. Essentially boiling down to personal preference rather than skillset to offer :)

I do appreciate your videos, as they are starting to help my project come together! Curious, do you ever do scratch builds? I have a crazy idea in my head, but I haven't seen anyone do it. I DON'T have the skills to build it myself.

So glad to hear that these videos have helped you :) I mostly do full builds and the channel is chock-full of different builds.
