Santafixie WILD Tracklocross Build

  • Today we build a Tracklocross bike, something I've wanted to do for some time.
    Santafixie Wild Tracklocross was born to ride and conquer all types of terrain, but it truly excels when flying down gravel tracks, maneuvering around tracklocross circuits, and tackling "muddy" situations.
    Built on a classic steel frame, the tire clearance has been increased to accommodate tires up to 45mm wide, ensuring that mud is always part of the fun, never a problem. V-brakes are fitted as standard, the ones that never fail. However, if you prefer, you can flip the rear wheel over and experience tracklocross as the purists prescribe: no brakes and a fixed gear.
    The paint and colors chosen for the Santafixie Wild evoke the design of the early mountain bikes, harkening back to the 90s when there were no GPS tracks to follow, and getting lost in the mountains with your bike and arriving home late was an added thrill.
    Bikes with wide wheels always gravitate towards rocky hills, and the Santafixie Wild is no exception.

    Anywhere you drive on the left , front brake is on the right . So continental Europe front brake is on the left . That is a nice bike .

    Omg it's meant to be! just given up (not even an hour ago) trying to take my stuck cranks of my Mango fixie bike, me and my step dad have tried a couple times but to no luck! It is for my first MTB conversion I got of Gumtree last week a lovely baby blue and pink Dawes One Track, which you inspired me to build.
    Need that 1bye steez

    I never realized that you typically coast when you turn to look over your shoulder until I rode a fixed gear bike. It was a big surprise.

    Hey Im a student from Germany currently restoring my grandpas old bike that he always used to get around town or go on tours with it. It is a super weird frame with a suspension around the seattube but im thinking of converting it into a gravel bike. Unfortunately the cranks are the 3 speed variety with fixed chainrings so a new crank would be greatly appreciated!

    TranzX Jump Seat dropper post, the one with the lever under the saddle and no cables or anything, also uses just one bolt to clamp the saddle. They come in 27.2 and are cheap, and mine hasn't bent yet lol.

    What a cool bike, and nice work as always, thanks. Even the chain segment was very satisfying as I've found myself in similar (where is the master link?) scenario. Also, where I love your choices in adding anodized color accents (the purple) I really liked how the yellow cables picked up the yellow paint accents and feel there was a opportunity to do something with the dark blue paint accents on that gray paint. The purple does look great, just something I wondered. Can't wait to see the next video. Continue to shred!

    My bike that was purchased in Japan (Originally bought by an overseas Navy dude) had the front brake on the right handlebar. So maybe it is something to do with traffic direction as you mentioned. I immediately had to change it though which became an unwanted crash course in learning how to bleed disc brakes.

    Craig, I love your videos! Picked up a frame a few weeks back and am working through my first build of a Bianchi Lynx 26er. Hoping to go 1 by 7 and that crank would be a great addition as it’s hard to find square taper cranks in black! All the best, looking forward to the next build already. Cheers.

    Craig 👊🏼, long time admirer of your channel, I definitely need that crank. As I have now acquired a suitably sized rockhopper (1997) which means I can proceed to make a fixie/singlespeed out of my (1990ish) Marin Muirwood can’t remember exactly what year as I’m writing this, but…yeah… that why I would like you to send the crank my way 🎉🎉😘

    great video dude, don’t normally comment as it’s not my style haha, I’ve built up a 1998 rock hopper for commuting however using the stock 94bcd cranks which are a nightmare to find chainrings for! I’ve thought about using hollowtech however it just wouldn’t seem right of the bike. If I could get them cranks I’ll pay postage and make a shitty video to show there getting used.

  • @whitecompany18
    @whitecompany18 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    UK front brakes are on the right because it's the world standard side to have a front brake (including motorcycles) it's only America I think that have to be different👍

    • @whitecompany18
      @whitecompany18 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ebikes generally come with the front on the left because at first they were aimed at the American market, when ebikes first came out and they were getting handed out to youtubers to review and America got them first, and in all the reviews the Americans said the brakes are the wrong way round so it kinda became a standard for Chinese bikes to be Americanized.

    The Desiknio bikes I assemble at the company I work for in The Netherlands also use that seat post with Desiknio branding, so it’s possibly a Chinese thing that you can get from Ali baba or something, then put your own branding on?

      How is single speed not practical. I live in a flat city and fixed gear or single is great. I find it significantly more fun and much less to maintain so to me it's actually more practical than a bike with gear
