    I will definitely check some of these out! You have a nice set-up. One of my favorites was SCT used to change the temperature of screen colors. I always compute during the night and this saves my eyes/helps me sleep better.

    What do you use for system monitoring? I tried bpytop and it’s ok, I use glances on arch so it show temps and battery status but glances on openbsd does not. also, I don’t think intel turbo works but I haven’t found how to confirm. Cool channel!

    Thank you for the content. so newsboat beats apple news in terms of sophistication of conduct. is there a mail client equivalent of that?

      OpenBSD is shipped with `mail`, an email client. There's also `mutt` but I don't have experience with neither of them.

    my touchpad on openbsd works only after xorg starts and before dwm load

      Try with another window manager and see what happens. It could be also the configuration under /etc/wsconsctl.conf to be messed up. Check also login.conf under home directory. Or try to created another account to see whether the issue goes away. Or try a USB mouse and see what happens. If it works for a brief second I suspect it is configuration related but it is difficult to pinpoint without bunch of trial and errors.

      @@TheOpenBSDguy i tried another wm it did not make any difference,
      another account did not help either
      an external mouse (wireless) worked just fine all the time

      @@gogogogogogogogogogog9 check the man pages of ws. I had a similar issue when I was running openbsd on my laptop and I had to make up a config in /etc/wsconsctl.conf like The OpenBSD Guy said.

    Open bsd is not unix .. it’s not certified by unix .. it’s just a unix like system

    • @oventree
      @oventree ปีที่แล้ว +11

      it's pretty much UNIX in everything but name, who cares what the open group says? they just want their licensing fees and their homepage sucks anyways, why take them seriously? i mean they can't even be bothered to update a broken link on the UNIX certification program page!

      And? Is Linux more UNIX? Maybe you use UnixWare or OpenServer, that is purely fake unix. Real unixes are v1-v8 and more unix is plan 9. BSDs are fake unix, but unixware and anything svr4 are purely bad faker. Svr4 just have unix trademark so they name them unix.

      Whether something is officially Unix is political and depends on whether the project spent money to get certified. The BSDs are POSIX compliant and basically Unix through and through, but they don't have billions of dollars to spend and get certified like Apple and Oracle do.

      It contains Unix source code. It's Unix. Screw the license.
