    Thanks for taking the time to share with us. Enjoyed it and agree some nights it was so hot it made it unbearable to hunt. But the midges loved me all the same.

      Oh i hate the midges, i used to come home with bite marks all over my face and hands, how the rabbits stick it i don't know.

    Im loving watching your videos, very informative and interesting on your hunts.
    I have just upgraded to the weirauch HW97K .22 and am very pleased with it.
    Im not rabbiting, but doing more vermin control on my small parcel of land. Majority is magpie, crow and grey squirrel. The squirrels im having no problem with, but getting the magpies to play ball is hard work.
    I tried dead squirrels, but they ignore it. I think i need to work more on the hide, as theyre canny buggers, and probably spot me way before i spot them!
    Keep up the good work.

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually use a dead rabbit split open with the guts hanging out and I've noticed that it can make a big difference if you can set up the hide and bait before it gets properly light in the morning because if the birds notice you setting up the hide and bait they can take ages to land if at all.

    Hey there!:-)
    I received my HW97K Special Edition laminated stock. I have seen your videos years ago of course and told myself "one day" I will get a HW97k, and I finally did!!
    Boy, it's a beautiful air rifle!! And loving the accuracy it delivers :-) seems it likes 3-types of pellets out of 6 types...
    I know that I will get even better once I shoot every day. Hold sensitive compared to my pcp shooting. Definitely noticeable shooting a Springer. But once you get into the swing of things it's heaven!!!

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you like your new rifle most people will hardly look at a springer now with so many cool pcp rifles about but there is something addictive about shooting a good springer and they can be just as accurate as a pcp with plenty of practice.

    • @Patrick-857
      @Patrick-857 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HuntersVermin Here in NZ it's weird. We have no limits on power with springers, I have a Prosport and two magnum springers that are 28, and 31fpe respectively, with no licence needed. However all PCPs regardless of power level require a firearms licence, which has become extremely difficult to get.
      In spite of this most people here think they are toys, so farmers laugh at me when I ask for permission to take rabbits on their farms, because they insist I need a powder burner. Ridiculous. My 28fpe .22 break barrel will blow through 19mm ply like it's nothing. But I know from watching UK people doing pest control, that accuracy and shot placement is far more important.
      It annoys me that people think you can't hunt with an air rifle.

    hi nice vid as always
    question on ur 97 what have u done to the silencer i have a 97k in .22 standerd no mods
    the thoumb on urs sounds like a rubberised top hat and baffle change in silencer or is it just the mic on cam
    love the stock on urs though all the best jim

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It must be the the camera as the silencer is still standard but i did fit a V-Mach tuning kit which changed the sound a bit and the stock was bought of off ebay.

    Mine is a gas piston made by crosman the F4 .177 and it's mussle velocity is 1,000 with 7.4 gr around 12 to 13 fpe but with the pirahna .177 is up to 15 fpe close to the one in the box

    Here in the states, there is a debate over suppressors, -vs-silencers , do you guys see any difference between the two , and if so, your opinion.

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To tell you the truth i thought it was just two different words describing the same thing, though some people don't like to use the word silencer as even when using subsonic ammo they don't actually silence the muzzle blast totally but more suppresses the noise so the name suppressor seems more accurate.

    • @ObsessedGamerYT
      @ObsessedGamerYT 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was not sure my self; but there are hard heads on every thing I guess. I only have the use of my right arm/hand, broken neck, so I don't shoot rifles. Can you shoot air rifles one handed with your sticks?

    • @Oli4vn
      @Oli4vn 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      light pcp's can very well be shot one handed, but the use of a bipod or sticks is advisable

    • @ObsessedGamerYT
      @ObsessedGamerYT 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks, don't think I would use any thing past a .117 or.22

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well there is next to no recoil with a pcp air rifle and if you go for a smaller lighter model it will be easier to move around with one hand. You also get long legged bipods to allow you to shoot from a sitting or kneeling position as well as quad sticks which support the rifle fully in a standing position.

    I have seen u r seldom using spring power air rifle but ur preferred air rifle is PCP
    but have u ever used ramgas power air rifle for hunting...???? if that is yes then how would compare spring power and ramgas power air rifle ..???

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes i had a Theoben Eliminator in .25cal 30ft/lb and it was a beast of a break barrel air gun but shot well and hit really hard, you could keep it cocked without worrying about wearing the spring out as it didn't have one and there was no spring twang on firing but this was an expensive gun at the time and i don't know how other cheaper gasram air guns would compare to it.

    As usual David, a great video. keep them coming mate. I was also just wondering if you could give me some advice. Basically, I also use the Shot Trak HD camera and I noticed that you mount your camera at the top of the scope. This will, as you already know, make the recorded video play upside down. My question is, What software do you use to enable the Shot Trak video to be played back the right way up, and not upside down? I mount my camera to the rifle as instructed, but by doing this, I always have a shadow on my video playback, which I presume is the end of the scope, or barrel. This is the reason I want to start mounting the camera as you do on top of the scope, and not at the side and eliminate the recorded shadow.
    Regards,
    Marc

    ive never understood... if your creeping up gently and quietly on to a rabbit for a better shot, surely you dont have to be super super quiet, because after all, you have clearly already moved forward a bit, to place the camera infront of you, to capture you creeping up

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well that's not quite the way i do it but you still need to be quiet when stalking up on a rabbit as they usually know that humans with guns are dangerous.

    Good work, you have loads of excellent videos, I'm waiting on the PSNI to process my variation for a new HW97 and am finding out as much info as I can while I wait. (hopefully it's not going to be too long....) Do you have any videos of doing maintenance on your HW97? I seen the one for fitting the tuning kit and its very useful but I was wondering how often should I dismantle for lubrication of spring/piston and what type of lube to use, what would you recommend? Thanks for taking time to make and upload so many videos, very informative

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah well you'l need a light gun oil and a clean cloth to wipe the metal work down after handling the gun before you put it away each time, a slightly heavier oil for the likes of the trigger mechanism and cross pins then a good grease for the spring which you can apply with a very small paint brush through the cocking slot without having to dismantle the rifle but never put any oil inside the compression chamber or it will diesel and go off with a bang. I have a video on barrel cleaning and how to make a simple pull through for the job but to be honest besides cleaning the barrel every 200-300 shots all i do is wipe the outside of the rifle down with an oily cloth before putting it away.

    • @paddycunningham5011

    • @819ANT
      @819ANT 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no should be fine for a short while.
      Tony wall at Sandwell field sports left one cocked for weeks as a test and was no bad effect from that :) so hour or so while hunting should be fine.

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just what Anthony said, so long as your only keeping it cocked for an hour or so it shouldn't do any harm anyway if i didn't have the rifle cocked and loaded at all times i'd miss quit a few opportunities.

    nice shooting! keep up the good work! wish i could get permissions where i live. nobody seems to care (but my wife and I) about the local wildlife destroying our veggie garden and being hit in the streets, that they are in need of some population control. i am limited to any pests (squirrel, crow or rabbit) that enter my backyard that i can randomly catch. i use my "tuned" crossman phantom .22 cal break barrel (sadly the best rifle i can afford and get my hands on) with some crossman powershot lead free high velocity 16.7 grain pellets (for larger animals) and normal crossman pointed tip lead pellets 14.3 grain, at around 650-700 fps. and like other responsible shooters if no kill shot is presented no shot is discharged. have u ever used the high velocity pellets? and if so what did u think?

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry no i've never used the crossman powershot pellets and they do look a bit too long for the magazines on my two pcp powered air rifles though they do remind me of the prometheus pellets that have been about for years.

      @leonidasspartan6863 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the reply... ur right, they do look similar... and if i can retrieve the lead free pellets from the target i fired at i can shoot that same pellet again because there has been no damage to the pellet in most cases.

    Hi HuntersVermin . How long you usual keep your HW 97 cocked without losing power or even weakening the mainspring ??

    • @HuntersVermin
      @HuntersVermin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't mind leaving the rifle cocked for an hour or so when out hunting or in a hide because a lot of the time when you get an opportunity you don't have the time to cock the rifle for the shot. This doesn't seem to do any harm i think its more if you forget yourself and store the rifle cocked for days that you'l weaken the spring.

      That's a shame, we can have a similar problem here in N'Ireland as any guns, ammo etc that are posted over from main land England have very high postage doe to the fact you have to use special couriers which can charge what they like.

      tem mais uma ironia aqui a caça aqui é proibida.
      sendo somente permitido caçar javalis e animais híbridos deles.
      mas é totalmente proibido as armas de fogo temos que nos virar com balestras e arco e flechas como indios kkkk

      Here in the UK we can legally hunt with firearms such as shotguns air rifles rim & center fire rifles with the right rifearms licence but it is illegal to hunt with a cross bow or bow and arrow.

      @@HuntersVermin thanks comrade. In Ukraine, the caliber, 22 lr pneumatics is difficult to buy in a store. I am looking for comrades abroad to buy myself a "Kozak" type rifle in 5.5mm caliber. Zbroya makes such a caliber for export. good quality . I wonder what the price of such a rifle is. thanks comrade

      Without a firearms licence you can only have a 12ft/b air rifle yes, but it's more than enough for small game. It just means we have to be more accurate!

      Here in NZ everyone, including the government thinks springers are toys. PCPs require a firearms licence regardless of power. Since the Christchurch shooting it's near impossible to get one, and a lot of innocent firearms owners are getting their guns confiscated for having the wrong opinions on Facebook so it's never going to happen for me.
      The advantage is I can have the most powerful spring guns on the market with no licence. The disadvantage is farmers laugh at me when I ask to do pest control on their land because they don't believe a springer can take rabbits ect. This is retarded, my spring guns are more than effective enough, and a lot safer to people, animals and property than a .22 rimfire, which can over penetrate and ricochet off the ground, one reason. 17HMR is becoming popular for varminting.
      For all the power I have in my magnum springers though, I would rather take out my Air Arms Prosport .177 which is making 15fpe. Far more accurate, quiter and more pleasant. My Gamo G-magnum .22 makes about 28fpe but it is incredibly violent and while I've learned to shoot it pretty well, it's becoming clear it's just unnecessary. The Prosport can get me headshots all day.
      But farmers here in NZ are narrow minded pricks.

    • @SlingAndStones
      @SlingAndStones 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Glimpsedshow to an extent, the less powerful the speing the more accurate the airgun should be in theory.
