    about those bachman decoders.As you said THEE worst decoder.Odd thing about them, is they make "budget" locomotives that CAN run ok,IF the decoder can be removed & replaced with a GOOD decoder. especially if they are the 8 pin variety,the loco runs pretty decent.Its the slow speed that sorts the good from the bad loco/decder combination. Thanks Matt Michael

    Thank You for the review. I have ESU, TCS and Digitrax (sound) decoders. Hands down, for motor control, (and sound), ESU Loksound is the clear winner for me. TCS still has the best "horn quill," but that is about it. I also do not like the two separate (sound and lighting) modes TCS seems to be stubbornly addicted to as well. I would rate TCS in second place in terms of a sound decoder. Maybe that changes down the road, but presently I'll buy ESU/Loksound v5 over TCS any day of the week.

    Very informative. New to DCC. Question on that ESU LokSound...I pulled this from their website...
    The LokSound 5 DCC is made for the North American and Australian markets. It is a pure DCC Decoder, which supports RailComPlus and can also be used on DC layouts. Please note the LokSound 5 DCC decoder does not come with a speaker.

    I have a bit of a question. I mainly use Soundtraxx decoders, but I just recently bought a Proto 2000 e7 with a TCS T4-LED decoder. When I tried to change the address on the decoder from 3 to 2920, it didn’t switch. How do I go about properly changing it?

    I think the only Bachman stuff I bought a while ago was their buildings. Because of price. ☕🍻👍

    I have NCE Digital Cab Starter Set. Will this work with my DCC equipped Athearn engines and do I need to purchase a separate speaker?

    • @michaelcudby787
      @michaelcudby787 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes & no.Yes most DCC engines will operate on most DCC systems.If the locos have a SOUND decoder in them,9 outa 10 they will already have a speaker.There are SOUND decoders & there are non SOUND decoders.

    Sorry you dont like Digitrax. I have 5 old Athearn blue box locos with Digitrax sound decoders which work and sound just fine. Yes there are better units at more cost but I find them pretty good and the warranty is excellent

      They work and ive never had one go bad but the motor control is light years better on esu and tcs

      @@billligon4005 motor control, terrible in comparision to tcs or esu. Specifically low speed and low speed step performance
