hey, thanks to you and your videos, I was able to adjust my planetary hub so that it no longer slips, now I'm satisfied, keep it up, greetings from Germany❤
just get the hybrid freecoaster, works like a freecoaster with slack but without the clutch and turns into a cassette with the springs already provided. Plus it's a lot cheaper than the planetary stuff
Sure, if that’s what someone wants. Different strokes for different folks and some folks don’t want to engage/disengage so they like the planetary coaster.
yeah of course you are right about that. Something else I'm observing lately is some people getting the planetary as their first freecoaster while the hybrid is a nice in-between that isn't talked enough I feel. And because it's a difficult system to work on without tools and proper lubricants they basically destroy them or don't ride them as much. Also it's the lightest one.
Nice coverage, Brant. I was fooling around with some springs and discovered this a while back but never put the driver back in to test it. At least I know it works now and (hopefully) won't damage anything. I might try it for a week or two to satisfy my curiosity.
awesome. I really wonder if the hybrid clutch would also work in the planetary so you have a tri-mode hub, planetary, regular fc and cassette modes. And if you can convert your wtp hybrid into planetary with a planetary clutch (and planetary pawls and springs)
@@Brant_Moore I have tried all the tricks. It still randomly engages. I was going to try the new alienation 1.5 clutch, but it is always sold out. The only way I have got it to work is if I brake clean all the oil out of the hub, but then the o ring creates so much friction (and noise) that it just creates other problems. Everyone told me not to buy a Z coaster, and now I wish I did buy one rather than a planetary, because I never know when it is going to work and when it is going to engage and flip me backwards. I have watched all the videos several times, nothing worked for me.
@@GolfSux same , I have the 1.5 and it still randomly engages on turbine tricks where I go from pegwheelie forwards in a circle then kick tyre to go backwards. (flatland)
@dopelordz The planetary system works best when there’s a very deliberate shift from forward momentum to backward momentum. If the wheel isn’t moving very fast forward then the momentum shift may not be enough to work property. It’s not a flawless system and it’s not for everyone. For the right people it is awesome
Now solve my question 🤣 since you are using parts from my wtp hybrid , can I swap parts from the alienation planetary into my hybrid to see if I like planetary without having to buy a planetary ?
You can’t do it with a freewheel but you can turn a coaster brake into a freecoaster which is even cheaper honestly. Look it up stackedbmx has a video on it

Great video as always
Quite a revelation indeed. A great use case for those who want to ride their planetary 100% cassette without the drag. 👍🏻
This is awesome thanks for the info

Nice wheel 🔥

Dont take out the clutch, i did it on my hybrid coaster and the pawls can fall off the driver and roll around inside your hub
Does it have to be those particular brand springs, or will another brand work?
Meanwhile, I cant even get my planetary to run like a freecoaster.
Need help? Its easy.
The people who invented it replied to help and I have an entire video that should cover just about any problem you’re having

That's cool and all but I want to know how to make a freewheel into a freecoaster..... 😂

Take the pawls out 👍
That's not a cassette. A cassette has a replaceable sprocket with splines and a lock nut
It's a cassette in the BMX world.
