And the lubricant will be washed off after like 2 washes. Where I'm from it's always dusty regardless of where you go thus bikes get washed more frequently. Paint holds on much longer and better compared to lubricant.
wow your awesome i really like your videos one thing i noticed in your hub rebuild videos you never replace the bearings in the cassette hub driver? why is that ?
Those rarely ever go bad. The only tension that gets on them is when you pedal. For the bearings in the hub housings, those are active all the time whether you're coasting, pedaling or just outright beating the heck out of your bike. They pretty much carry the weight of the bike as well as your own while you're riding thus they tend to wear out pretty fast. Plus they're on either side of the hub with a spacer in between thus doesn't distribute load as efficiently as the bearings in the driver which are like 3 or 4 closely packed together
It depends. There's hubs designed such that every pawl has an individual spring. And for a number of hubs with that design, you can interchange the position of the pawls and springs to change the direction of the hub. This particular one doesn't have that option though
Aaahh. I Don't have a video on that but I'll find one to work on. They rarely ever go bad so replacing them hasn't been necessary for all the bikes I've worked on
Sick work mate, any chance you know where to find axles like this one to buy online, i have a hub that needs new axle but find it impossible to find any on the internet. Cheers.
Same feeling I get on my dirt jumper. It's got some hella knobby tyres so whenever I ride on tarmac it feels like it doesn't want to go. Really tiresome
bro it tooked me 1 week just to find the brand of my bmx and its a japanese brand named YSB (Yoshikawa Seisakusho) i gotta make a custom sticker to make it look better
Nice. It's always good to keep track of makes and models for these things. You might find that it's very valuable down the line if you ever want to sell it
That hub is actually in great condition
It’s chipped from over truing the spokes phenomenal job
Thank you. I wanted to file down around the spoke holes but opted not to. It's seen some better days but it adds a bit of character to it
that was quite a refurb- nice work mate!
Thanks man 👊👊
This is going to be gooood !!! This is wat I have been looking for 🫶🏾🚲🫶🏾
Incredibly shiny for matte black!
I kinda laid it down a bit too thick in between coats so it turned out more of a satin rather than matt
Does anyone know if you can turn a loose ball bearing hub into a sealed bearing hub?
You can't. They're both designed differently to work with their respective bearings
why would u spray paint on the driver?
It's raw steel. Painting tge outside of the driver gives it a fighting chance against rust
@@KamaarhKenn wasn't it better to put a layer of thin lubrican over it than paint? the paint will be worn down by the chain either way.

@@KamaarhKenn yeah you are going to get bits of paint in your chain
@@GFEBMX not that much. There's not many layers of paint on there

Name of song at 3:38?
I'd have to check. I can't quite remember the title 😅
@KamaarhKenn Ok that would be awesome thank you! 🙏🏽
Yo bro, I have a question. Is there a reason why you dont use sandpaper to sand away paint?
@@novocaine_bmx in some cases I do. But if I need a surface all clear it's much faster and easier to use paint stripper instead.
@KamaarhKenn oh, now I see. Thanks man.
can we convert the cassette to LHD?

@@KamaarhKenn my cassette just like yours. cant be LHD.
Kind of a bummer. I'd really like to see what it's like to ride a LHD setup. It seems hella crazy
@@KamaarhKenn that's y i wanna try LHD 😅
Yes! New vid!
Definitely 😅👊👊
6:45 the bearing here bro
What about it my guy? 👊
@@KamaarhKenn i mean the bearing i ask on other video haha i dont know how to remove cog bearing stopper lol

Check on AliExpress. You might get lucky. Or alternatively, get another hub as a donor.
@@KamaarhKenn thanks, been looking for it all around but no way to find any to have same bearing spacings and to fit the hub
It's usually difficult to find similar axles. The concept of the hubs is usually the same, but designs differ slightly from company to company.
Nice video
Thank you 🙏
Eyy ty bro that really helpful
You're welcome 🙏
Tha k you this helped me out
Sure thing fam 👊👊
Looks like a salt hub like mine
It probably is. But unfortunately there wasn't any branding on it so it wasn't possible to tell what brand it is
My tires blew up time to change to freestyle
😅😅 All the best man. Freestyle is hella fun though. I can barely do any tricks but I still enjoy it
