Nick Park’s Creature Comforts took the classic documentary style and applied it to the lives of wild animals and pets, matching a cast of clay characters with human voices to charming effect. Originating from Nick’s 1989 Academy Award®-winning short film, Creature Comforts was unique for using unscripted vox-pop interviews with the British public in a stop motion series that has become an Aardman classic.
The success of the short film led to two TV series, which broadcast on ITV, and an iconic series of commercials for the Electricity Board’s ‘Heat Electric’ campaign. Creature Comforts also went across the pond to the USA where the unique format was used once again to tell real-life stories from people in America. The claymation characters portray very human traits and contemplate absurdities of the universe such as, ""Do bald eagles ever feel self-conscious?"" and ""What makes pigs feel sexy?""

Probably one of the most wholesome and intelligent shows ever made for British TV
🏆 first place.
More British than the Queen having a fry up 👍
Totally agree horrible histories is another well make and written British program but this is still miles in front
That's Aardman for you, they're brilliant
*TV
There's something so remarkably human about seeing/hearing these animated Wallace and gromit styled characters speaking. Makes my heart so full man.
That's because they are animated humans...😂
Im 99 percent sure that they interviewed humans and animated them
I love the fact that they animated the guy getting a call mid interview
Amazing man.
That's some devotion to copying the details of the interview I mean they could have easily just cut out that bit entirely but nope they kept it in because they knew it would make the interview feel more real
Me too 👍👍
Timestamp?
@@Portal7896 Yup.
It takes a full day to record just 2 to 4 seconds of this show, excluding all the voice recording, planning and preparations. It’s simply incredible what some people will take on and produce, never mind the incredible quality. Just WOW!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
This show and Wallace & Gromit were my entire childhood. Nothing in the world makes me nostalgic like Aardman 💖
Thanks! So happy to read this :)
@@CreatureComfortsOfficial I humbly ask if you are going to make more Creature Comforts videos?
I don't know if "high art" is the proper phrase, but I do know Creature Comforts is high quality art. The amount of details involved to produce the emotions of humour here are brilliant.
Cristmas decorating behind the 2 pigs in the barn: SOSSAGES. Some ironi to
I agree!
I'm going through a tough time right now, with close family illness and loss, and this show is a genuine cosy escape for a few minutes at a time. Makes my heart feel full watching it
Edit: 16:03 made me burst into tears
I did the exact same thing, found this around 2020, 2021. I literally don't think I know one single person who didn't lose something or someone, two rotten years :"/ hope you're doing better, at least there's always TH-cam :"D
I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope things are getting a bit better for you
hope you’re better now my brotha
❤
❤
1:01:23. "But the phone's interrupting me, not me the phone!" Is my all-time favourite line in any of these shows. I always wondered if it was scripted.
None of those interviews were scripted. There is a behind the scenes vid.
I had to go back and check. How could I miss that 😁
Just interviewed people. UK mostly but he did lions an they were Argentinian! Just normal folk. Awesome animators an Timming
@@Metonymy1979well some of it has to be scripted when they refer to themselves as animals
@@devongarvie6261 Nope. It's not scripted. There is a behind the scenes and it shows how they recorded the scenes. Also, they never refer to themselves as though they are the animal, only if they were. Totally different.
“Each day in the morning it’s sunny”
“Is it...”
lol I love when the kids have completely random things to add XD
That adorable voice, in combination with the absolute inanity of what she said, is gold
11:46 - for those who missed it
14:40 The cough is adorably perfect 😂 I swear this is how every young child coughs, tongue out, full thrust
16:02 This legitimately nearly brought a tear to my eye. What a wonderful sentiment, and I hope to be as good to my children as my dad has been to me as well.
I thought that one was really sweet too! 🥰
Yeah that hit home
Wish i had a dad that loved me..
The rat/mouse couple in the pots are so adorable- true love there
And the hamster is just insightful, and the man who voiced the pig at ~16 mins talking so highly of his father- that’s 😢
The zebra in the zoo- that lady’s energy is beyond , the hyena couple are just a ball
The Sher Pa is just hilarious
42:30 How lovely that the rain was incorporated into the animation. Aww
That is some attention to detail
This was my favorite prime time show as a kid
Just now realised they actually went out and interviewed people and animated it
Aardman are a national treasure
This is surely the most British show that was ever produced, funny talented and loved by all ages
I want a comfort level with my partner like the cat and dog couple. They’re so laid back it’s unbelievable
One of my faves.
I am so mad I had to find this on my own at 4am in my 30s. This is amazing.
Yes but you DID find it! How much better is your life now? Mine is now cartwheels 😂
lol holy moly are we in the same algorithm😂
@41 but Happy to find this gem none the less.
I think the real genius is in some of the 'creatures' micro-expressions, they're so well observed
The 'Two old bats' are lovely 😸
They're just like my mum, and the "communication" bit is 100% conversations I've had with my dad and mum, complete with checking because she didn't hear us. Ugh.
The older lady bats are probably my fave, their so cute and sweet. But the dog brothers are a close second.
For me it’s either the 1st and 2nd Prize pigs from Beast in Show or the pop and son wrinkly dogs.
Was this made by the creators of wallice and gromit
@@kristianwade6927 I would bet in it
@@kristianwade6927 yes.
It’s the pigs for me, so funny.
I LOVE the old bats. So cute!
Me too.
Cucumber 🥒
The amount of work and talent needed to achieve the perfect representations of expression in this medium is absolutely incredible and does not get anywhere near the credit it deserves.
I love the talking clams on the plate. That's so creative!
And the ones at the back earrirng the breadsticks!
jeordie moules marinare XD
WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO SPEND THE DAY DRINKING BIG BUCKETS OF TEA AND DOING CROSS STITCH AND WATCHING A WALLCE AND GROMIT AND CREATURE COMFORTS VERY VERY COMFY!! ❤️🖤💜💚🧡💗💓💙💜🖤❤️💚🧡💓💗xxxx
The young child and parent interactions make me giggle so much! 😂
That rat couple sitting on flower pots and the the cat and dog on the couch were great
I just found out about this show because of the Aardman animation documentary on TH-cam. I thought I was familiar with everything they have done over the years, but somehow I missed this show. It's brilliant.
The original Creature Comforts won the first of their three Oscars. It's still my favourite, 30 years later.
I also came from that vid!
@@stockbag lmao, your maths is way off mate 😂
@@n0odles86 no actually, creature comforts started in 1989… it’s 2022

😮
I love the dog and puppy, the puppy’s facial expressions are priceless!
I love dogs and puppies too. 👍👍
I love the Geordie mouse. No idea what in the hell he's saying.
That's my Dad. I'm the son he refers to in the diabetes scene.

1:04:14 for anyone looking for 'em. and 1:22:58
The academy award winner, creature comforts is here on youtube.
this is literally my comfort channel, the stop motion is smooth, no cuss word, pleasant voices, and it have simple words
I remember watching this all the time on dvd when I was younger
How can you be angry or sad watching these!?! So much talent to put these all together.
It actually helps to make you feel a lot better if you've had a particularly busy or rough day I mean I should know because I had a particularly busy day like freaking heck and watching this helped me relax a little and forget about some of the stress of my day
This is cute. My cat watches it too. I think she likes the color and interesting motion dynamics of the clay.
That is what she tells me, at least.
She is a very sophisticated cat. Drinks bottled water, orders me around. Tells ne when to wake up in the morning. Makes me leave my door open when it's 6AM and cold.
The flowers talking about Prince Charles was a nice touch, reminding us that years ago he admitted that he talked to his plants.
Oh is THAT why?
aw that’s so sweet
where
@@h-Films I read it in a paper years ago. I’m sure you will find the text online. I remember thinking, how egalitarian! (But now, I am a nearly ancient cynical craythur who thinks, Ah, so he considers himself the ruler of all living things in the land?)
Nothing wrong with talking to plants....they respond by flourishing...x
I love the two old bats!
S H They’re adorable and sassy!
Don't you talk about my grandmothers like that
They're literally old bats
"Cucumbers??"
Makes me laugh every time, that one
16:15 ow- my heart
I scrolled to find a mention of this moment. Truly beautiful to hear the love and admiration he had for his dad.
Creature comforts will always hold a special place in my heart
Brian & Keith and The Old Bats have to be my favourites... But let's face it, I love them all haha
I vaguely remember seeing this show on Canadian TV when I was young but it totally left my mind. What a gorgeous and brilliant program. I'm so glad to have found it and watching these as an adult is so wonderful, especially in 2022. Thanks for sharing this freely on TH-cam!
I’m finding these quite enjoyable during these times.
It’s Christmas Day and I’m from UK working overseas. I’m all alone and working overseas 😂I just laughed my way through this. Thanks, What a treat. , 🎉. Really great to touch base. 😊😂😂😂❤
The amount of subtle detail is absolutely brilliant
“My parents are both very horsey” LMAO.
:-D)))
Remarks like that help influence what animal to make them.
I wonder how he got on with his “totty hunting”?
This is another 'go buy the boxset' show, a must have😀👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
1:15:16 1:17:16 absolutely adorable!
These actually are so comforting and nostalgic.
I am a Geordie, and I love the Geordie mouse, or is he a rat! I don't know, but the accent and patter (conversation) is spot on!
Im a long time fan of Wallace and Gromit. This is a lot of fun to watch too.
Hello, Wally Davis, you probably also know about "Shaun the sheep", if not, do please watch it. What a treat! Best regards!
OMG the sheep doing the farmers whistles and the sheep dog freaking out slayed me LOL!!! :D
I truely love these. Am 42 and these are absolutely wonderful for both adults and children. Tired of all the rubbish on television. Please do keep them coming. Am sooooo glad I subscribed. Elle in Boston Massachusetts.
Did you guys ever felt like every time you listen to THOSE types of relaxing voices, you feel like you're having a brain massage ? Just having that good and relaxing sensation to your brain ?
I feel this when i watch this series, it's so relaxing...
34:10 Error that people might not have spotted:
Cuddlepuss’ (Yes, that’s his name) eyebrows disappear for a few milliseconds.
That’s also literally the only time I’ve heard him laugh
I love that they give the birds teeth
Its so easy to get sucked into watching the entire video in one sitting
The cat on dog on the sofa, so great!
I know, they are hilarious!
@@happyhippy5801 They are, aren't they?
The first time I watched this, I was captivated by the original idea and the excellent expressive work. This time, I wished that I could know the people interviewed, and spend time with them, especially the happy laughing ones, which they almost all were. Thank you to all involved, in front of and behind the camera, for your heartwarming contributions.
Such a simple idea, superbly executed.
There’s something so affectionate and nourishing in it.
These programmes were absolutely top class (and are sorely missed these days).
16:26 I felt this moment so much. My (chosen) father came into my life at a very critical moment (around 7) in my life. My mom was barely making ends meet. I still remember the kind people at the food bank, now I barely see him :(
3:35 - The more I win, the more girlfriends I’ll have 🤣
Kayla Cas looks so happy and prowd
That guy’s so funny, when they were talking about relationships or something he said three girlfriends is the magic number but they have to be in different counties lol
@@melissaadams116 the guy sounds like one those pompous high society type jerks honestly having three girlfriends a guy like me would rather have one and remain loyal to her and keep her trust then have multiple and worry about them finding out about about the others and getting their hearts broken and leaving me although if it does happen I will full on deserve it
@@alexconn7473 I think your misinterpreting.
This guy is just sad and pathetic
The concept and execution just genius.
I love Wallace & Gromit, that show, Early Man Shaun The Sheep & other stop motion claymation Aardman films & telly shows!!!
I hope they make more of Creatures Comforts soon!
Aardman did an amazing job making these amazing Stop motion claymation come to life in films & telly/tv shows!!! 😍👏🏻🇬🇧🎬💖
I randomly found this in my recommendation. So I’ve been listening to this while at work.
I quite enjoyed this. This is something I’ll enjoy watching. But I still can’t believe Aardman animations made a show!!! Why am I now seeing this! 🤩
I loved the British Gas adverts with the tortoise saying turn on and offable
Love love love this show Aardman please 🙏 bring it back you geniuses
Eddie redmayne talked about this channel in an interview and now im subscribed cause this is great! Im going to show this to my little cousins cause i think they would love this!
Did they like it?
Seeing as Aardman made this and Early Man (something he starred in), I'm not surprised
I am so glad that TH-cam suggested this to me by the algorithm! I wish I could have it on in the background while working from home but I have to actually watch out for the subtle little perfections and funny things going on in the background!
It’s good that the hamster got a nicer cage. Hamsters need more space than people think. He still seems pretty miserable though.
The dog and cat couple got a new sofa too
I think they ought to re-design birds' cages. Imagine, how drafty it is in there, no shade
or scenery, nor warmth, unless they cover them up at night. The video is utterly delightful
nonetheless! I wish I'd discovered it sooner!
Aardman didn't have to give us this, but they did. Top quality art!
Nick Park is brilliant. And Aardman made a brilliant decision to bring him on board.
The concept combined with the phenomenal animation is absolutely brilliant
THIS. IS. BRILLIANT! I love this kind of animation. Love Wallace and Grommet and all of the Aardman creations!
Love all the accents and how they are matched to animals ❤️ brilliant, I especially love the mussels xxx
God the expressions are so good, I feel like I need to go frame by frame over and over for some of them. See you in 12 hours.
Thank you for this utterly delightful video! I'd already been up so late, then this came on and I just
HAD to keep watching, though I kept dropping off. The entire presentation is brilliant! They really
caught the charming mannerisms of the British people, down to every little detail. Today I'd like to watch it all over again, in order not to miss anything. Again, thank you for this real treasure!
This is one of the best things ever created! I just absolutely love it and it cheers me up every time 😊😊❤️❤️
I definitely laughed out loud at 1:08:27 😂😂😂 thank you for making and sharing this timeless show!
The Old Bats in the Belfry are so cute.
“Speed cameras?” “No sorry...eating?” “Speed cameras” in exactly the same volume, speak UP 😂😂
Cucumbers?
Do you dream?
Dung ho?
Nope!
Run Home?
No!
Bung Ho?
DREAM?
Oh yes, I dream!
1:07:18 my heart just melted
Still one of the best programs ever broadcast.
Teeth on the ravens, nice touch, bits of genius everywere!
I love when they interviewed little children, Gosh Darn Cute!!👶
"Do you know what speed cameras are?"

"Cucumbers?"
so so British, love it with all the accents, haven't seen these for years so great to find them again. Love Aardman from Morph onwards
I always come back to this series around Christmas, I remember this show being on around Christmas time so it always makes me feel Christmassy ;v;
Love it! My mum and I used to watch this a few years back when it was on the telly.
I wish this came back for one more season.
Me too.
What happened to it
I love the character designs, their wonderful expressions and voices so much! 🤩🙌✨
Back again this year, Happy 2023 everyone! I just love these videos, I wish they could make new ones, Even though I love them all, never get tired of watching these ! 🎉🎊🎄 Cheers!
I don’t know who I love more, the brown dog, the slugs or the rat!

Harebellies Arts Oh hey, small world! I bounce around a lot xD
I love the horse.
I used to watch this when I was a kid. So manh memories rushing back
I wonder how many of the Great British public they had to record in God knows how many situations to get enough to work with, then having to do the animation, the amount of work that went into one episode doesn't bear thinking about😕🤔👍👏
Yep. I do Stop-Motion. It ain't easy.
in one of the little behind-the-scenes videos on this channel they said like 700 interviews
I was about 13 or 14 when Creature Comforts first came out, i loved it then. But watching it again now as a 31 year old it's somehow much more funny
always have loved aardmans wallace and grommit . just came across this and it is one of the greatest things i have seen. genius
Oh God! I love stop motion, and this is one of my favorites! It's amazing and lovely to watch it here!
This is wonderful! Thank you so much for putting it together so I can watch it as and when I have little pockets of time and need to decompress. Such a joy.
my dad always played this for me when I was younger :((
