I saw this in theaters when i was 8 years old and been a fan of Ducktales since i was 5 and was excited for this since it was announced in 1988's Starlog and Comicscene magazines and couldn't wait for it.
I used to watch this movie so many times as a kid. I watched it so much that my family groans to this day when I bring it up 😂 it was one of my favourite movies!! I haven’t seen it in years, I’ll have to get Disney+ to watch it again
If Disney were to ever re release this movie (And/Or remaster it with bloopers that have the 2017 animation), this dedication would be included:

turns 30 today!
Just finished it on Disney +. Spectacular animation, a really fun sense of adventure, the Genie character is my favorite just wanting a life of his own to be free from subjugation, shows what happens when greed and being power hungry leads to and teaches kids about existentialism. That's pretty deep for an animated kids film.
The Genie was voiced by Rip Taylor.
This was one of my favorite films as a child. I'm 31 and I own this film on DVD.
Thank you for posting this, I have been looking for this trailer for like 20 years. It never showed up on any of the VHS or DVD releases, and even though I would check TH-cam and other video sites maybe once or twice a year every year, it was never there.
This trailer was memorable to me because of the unique version of the DuckTales theme used in it, I have never heard it anywhere else before or since. It's not quite as stirring as my 30 year old memories made it out to be, but it's cool to finally hear it again, and see the rough animation and scratch track Merlock!
I always loved this. The ending in my opinion is the best because although Scrooge could have asked for treasure to his hearts content he did the most unselfish thing he could have done and used his final wish to allow Genie to have the one wish he desired more then anything else in the entire world.
To tell the truth, Scrooge initially thought to wish that the lamp to be buried in the center of the earth because he understood that it was dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands and he wanted to make sure that no one could use it again. Wishing the genie to become a real boy was to get rid of the lamp without harming him.

Has anyone noticed that this film, released shortly by Aladdin, has numerous points in common with the plot of the film? Scrooge finally frees the geine too.
wasn’t this released before it? This was released in 1990, Aladdin was released in 1992. But yes, I noticed it.

Omigod omigod omigod! Thank you so much for finding this! I saw this in theaters as a kid (can't remember with which movie exactly - I think it was the Jungle Book rerelease) and getting so excited the second I realized that a Ducktales movie was coming out - Ducktales and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were the two biggest things for me as a kid at that time, so learning this was coming out and with the TMNT movie being released months prior it was like a childhood nirvana for me.
Back when when they were mentioning Collie Baba I kept thinking that they were talking about Bubba - I was 4 at the time, mind you.

My parents had this movie on the family laptop as a kid cause I think it was my dads movie. Kinda funny how most people who’ve seen this are like 30 and here I am half the age of that still being nostalgic for this. Straight up I watched this like hundreds of times cause I had nothing else to watch as a kid

This is cool, an original theatrical trailer for DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. Never saw it before, very interesting. It is jarring though to hear another voice coming out of Merlock that isn't Christopher Lloyd. Curious as to where you found ths.
Indeed, it is a little weird to not hear Christopher Lloyd. The only thing I can assume is that another actor was originally planned to play the role of Merlock. This trailer was transferred from a 35mm print that I found on ebay.

Yes, it first came out to movie theaters on August 3, 1990 and was eventually released to videocassette on March 15, 1991 (exactly 30 years before the 2017 version of "DuckTales" concluded with a 67-minute series finale entitled "The Last Adventure!").

if a rerelease were to happen . disney needs to do what warner did when they allowed the teen titans to watch the original space jam
and have a Mystery science theater style serial of movies where disney toons basically watch movies and talk over the movie
in the case of the 2017 ducktales plus other animated cartoons, the characters from those shows could sit and comment on the film

Am I the only one who found this movie kinda underwhelming? I mean for a feature film based on Disney's most popular TV series at the time, this movie felt very rushed and kinda half baked.
