  • A commentary video on how to race and win a fixed gear crit elimination race like Rad Race Last Man Standing, Off The Streets, Mission Crit and more. Tactics also apply to track eliminations and crits to a certain extent.
    Hope you enjoy it.

    Absolutely wicked. No idea how you keep this entire thought process going in your brain and actually ride the race at the same time. Love the perspective from the 360 too. Super clear. 🔥

    The slow in / fast out is cool trick…. Usually thinking that it must be fast all time and especially at that time of race. Thanks for the video!

      Yeah man, the more speed you can carry out of the turn the better, means you have to put in less effort accelerating / or you just go faster.

    Hi there! I was photographing that one Alec. I am not going to say anything that wasn't said....but Well done man, I admire your attitude overall and you definitely talented and obviously hardworker and that needs to be said. Is sick that you race in different formats and always up for challenge showing your multitude of skills. Well done man!, love the format, love the voice-over, the 360, is interesting to look at the angles etc specially on turns to have a close experience to what the rider had when racing. In this format works very well since is a more intructional/documental video in 1st person.

    Excelent video! Nice footage, nice analysis.. What you do, when no one wanna be first wheel? Many times happen in our community, everyone going around ~20km/h until last corner, and there rush everyone until the line, someone drop out, and back again to slow peace.. :/ at that situation are u going to fast and try make a big gap? But if they work together they easy catch u without any serious effort, and can play again the 20km/h play game when u are out of tank.. :/ Thanks for ur advice! :)

    • @alecpedalerbriggs9876
      @alecpedalerbriggs9876  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Appreciate that man thanks! Hmm always a difficult one, but usually the best thing to do in that situation would be to control the pace from the front, as if it’s not too fast you won’t be wasting too much energy. If you’re on the front you’re out of trouble and are unlikely to get overtaken by everyone, especially when there’s lots of people at the start of the race. Then when it gets to just a few people you can start to think about sitting at the back.

      It varies on the course really. Usually somewhere around 47x14. But for go kart tracks usually 46 x 18. For this race I was using 49x15 as it was so windy coming into the drag before the finish.

      @alecpedalerbriggs9876  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get you, but in a short race like this you’re unlikely to get away, so its your best option. In longer races people are willing to let you attack and have fun trying to get away and make a break stick.

    Lmao this strategy worked because your also a strong rider and could smoke em on every elimination sprint. I probably would have sucked wheels more but at the same time I saw how you were cornering faster by not being in the bunch

    • @alecpedalerbriggs9876
      @alecpedalerbriggs9876  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha cheers man. You gotta play to your strengths for sure. If you haven’t got a fast sprint, try fighting for 2nd wheel / 1st wheel coming into the sprint more, will give you the space and riders behind you to not get caught out by snipers. Come the end of the race the sniper sprinters will start to get tired too, so you can’t jump them early

    What gear ratio did you use for the race?

      I think 49x15 (88) as it was really windy and draggy into the finish with a kick out. Most people were on 48x14 i think (92.6)
      My gear felt a bit small at times and had me breathing but it was good for the acceleration in the sprint where it mattered most.
