Great episode Jill!! Looks like a wonderful product!! (They should be sponsoring you!! What a great promo for Poultry Cell!) I'm heading to the recommended video on molting. My hens are 18 months old and have not molted - so I've got more to learn!! Do you recommend this product for WINTER - when it's really cold? I occasionally supplement their winter diet with a tiny bit of fat and extra protein. Add this too?
I recommend this product in times of stress, so if it is going to be very cold, it might not be a bad idea to add it in when you can. Adding extra fats and seeds with oils such as sunflower seeds that helps keep them warm!
@@askavettech2057 Agreed, I'm going to look for it at my farm supply. In the coldest bits of winter I give them a little bit of finely chopped beef fat - pure fat - tiny pieces. And even raw liver diced up once in a while - they seem to love it!
So my chicks just turned nine weeks old. I noticed a lot of feathers in their coop and run. so would this be considered like their first molting, if that’s what’s happening?. sorry, I’m a first time chicken mom. So would this be the time for me to give them poultry cell supplement. Thank you so much. I love watching your videos.
At 9 weeks they are growing and loosing their young feathers to replace with adult feathers, yes this would be a good time to give them some poultry cell! They are not doing a traditional molt, but this is just them replacing their feathers think about this as like when 4yr old kids loose a tooth...to make room for adult ones:) It's a little stressful for them, so adding in some poultry cell for a week would be a great idea and thank you for watching
Hello, I have noticed recently at roost time my flock being extra loud, pecking each other, pushing each other off roost. Coop is 13×10 6 roost bars 2- 12ft 3- 10ft 1- 5ft I use hemp bedding deep litter method. I haven't seen mites/lices. I have 33 birds in this coop 3 rooster 29 hens. I do have several girls molting. Is this the reason for their aggressive behavior? They do not act this way during the day. 2 of the hens have gotten so upset they've moved to youngster flock in my other coop. Anyway is there anything I can do? Or do I just have to wait out these sassy grumpy birds?¿??? Any advice is appreciated. ❤❤❤❤
Well, they have plenty of room- so no worries there! They are habit forming creatures just like you and I....and as the season are changing the way/ and places they roost are probably shifting... what I mean that is, in the summer months they like to have space between them while roosting due to the warm temps, and now that the seasons are shifting, and they are molting (making them all a little poker until the feathers grow back) They are trying to be closer together for warmth. Some hens don't enjoy that and will be grumpy ladies about it - they will come around. I would just let them work it out. They will. If you notice extremely feather picking, obviously, you might need to remove that hen from that coop, if possible, or put her in the nesting box at night to avoid the picking. Also, they can squabble over social hierarchy - meaning some of your younger hens might be challenging the older gals for their spot on the roost.. I love this question, and I will be making another video on it! Thanks for asking! I have a bunch of chicken content, so subscribe so you can see it all!!
@@askavettech2057 thanks. I do subscribe. I hope the girls get back to normal soon. I miss when they'll all be quiet and just big buff brahma would be bawking her head off.. like she was telling them a bedtime story. Lol. She's molting bad.

The same waterer is a one gallon water container, so you would need 5 cap fulls of the product .
