    The addition of Caruso and Hartenstein essentially opens the entire spectrum of size options next season.

    Love the intro. I think a big part of why Presti drafted the way he did, is so we have some nba ready role players ready to fill in spots that open up with players leaving for more money. Dillon and Mitchell are looking great in the GLeague, and it’s going to pay off if we lose some depth, we have some solid guys waiting in the flanks.

      I also envision a scenario where Dort gets paid somewhere else and we have Cason Wallace ready as well. But I don’t know about his contract or anything that may be a while out

    • @letstalkthunder
      @letstalkthunder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You hit it perfectly on having more NBA-ready roleplayers ready to fill spots. Most long-term contenders will by nature end up having picks at the end of the first round. Denver, Milwaukee, Boston and others have shown a trend of drafting players without the highest ceiling, but guys who track to play playable quicker in a small role for a winner. Plus the Thunder recently have done a really great job of utilizing the OKC Blue as a slow cooker to get guys prepared for when their number gets called with guys like Dort, Wiggins, JWill and others all going on to play big roles and start at times when needed.
      Dort will be contract-eligible next year and Cason won't be until 2026-27, but the Thunder are in a nice spot to have Lu insurance if he gets offered a bag elsewhere or if OKC decides to pivot and flip his contract for someone with more years on their deal.

    Great video man.
    To me Ihart contract is not an overpay. In 2016 okc gave adams 100 m for 4 years and Ihart is a similar rebounder but better rim protector and waaay better playmaker.
    The 3rd season being a team option makes this a great deal

      @letstalkthunder  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I totally agree. I think he’s a great fit on this team and can play with or without Chet.
      The number is big, but that 3rd year being a team option is a giant bonus. And like I said in the video they were in a bit of a use it or lose it situation and even if it is an overpay. I still think it’s a smart move with the money not being super super longterm.

    I feel as if Sam Presti just made the Thunder a Championship Capable team for years to come with this deal. The Defense and Rebounding has improved, Josh Giddey is no longer a weak spot which now opens up the offensive and defensive game making the Thunder an even bigger threat.

      I know we haven’t seen them play yet, but this feels like one of the more balanced rosters of Presti’s entire tenure.
      I’m really looking forward to seeing how long it takes them to mesh and what they look like when they hit their stride for a stretch during the season.

    Not really sure why Presti didn't keep Sengun or Lively because I would take either one over Hartenstein but at least he finally addressed a huge problem. You can't just have a team of nothing but shooting guards. You need a few bigs and that was glaringly exposed against Dallas. If you put Lively on OKC where he should have been in the first place the Thunder without question win that series and possibly would have gone on to win a title...we'll never know. He was a big part of why Dallas beat OKC.

    • @letstalkthunder
      @letstalkthunder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sengun although a better player, would have ended up providing a lot of the same issues that Giddey did.
      Even more of a defensive weak spot and another guy who is at his best with the ball in his hands which takes it out of Shai and Dub’s hands.
      Lively I will admit I was wrong about in predraft, but I still love the Cason pick. Maybe Lively would have fit in perfectly, but I think having a guy like Luka to spoon feed him is about the best spot possible he could have gone to in the draft. Cason is going to be an elite two way player who can knock shots down and play on or off the ball.
      We will never know what could have been, but I think the reality this team is in right now is an incredibly good spot.

    • @joeldriver-sp2rg
      @joeldriver-sp2rg หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@letstalkthunder Dude, a guy that is capable of averaging 21/9/5 would have made this team damn near unbeatable. Sengun will be an all star. You put him on that team last year they probably win it all. What a bizarre take you're claiming that it would somehow "take the ball" out of the other players' hands. LMAO The whole idea in basketball is to get the most talented players on the court and by giving away Sengun we clearly did NOT do that. You can work with players defensively. You ever heard of player development? What I find amazing is they worked with Andre Roberson for years with his offense and he never got better at all yet they kept him and signed him for 40 million yet they give up on an extremely talented 21 year old in Giddey. Make that make sense.
