    Hey guys!
    Thanks for the update -- I had heard Uruguay was a little more expensive than the rest of South America. Sounds like that's a "little" misleading. Most things might actually be cheaper here in Canada, lol -- including gas. Appreciate the heads up on that.
    Co-ordinating with others can be tricky at the best of times, but it's probably best to find people who have the same/ similar priorities as you. Why pay substantially more to get somewhere you weren't intending to wind up? Trust that you'll find somone whose plans fit better with yours and realize it's gonna cost what it costs. Sometimes if you want reliable, you've just gotta be willing to pay for it. Hoping you get a stellar deal anyhow.
    Cheers! to you and the fur babies...from North Vancouver

    @wandacraig8286 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow! Glad that border crossing is done and you found a great spot to wait things out and make plans in peace and quiet with a few amenities. I read on the comments the suggestion to contact Snow and Curt about possibly being shipping buddies. Wouldn't that be awesome if that could work out!! As far as your new van build, the only things I have against all electric is #1, being able to easily find charging stations, and #2, most of the time you aren't getting electricity produced by hydro, wind, solar, or nuclear, you're getting electricity produced by coal or natural gas. So that's not really a clean source and defeats the purpose. Maybe Europe has better options than here in the US. Anyway, for now I'm really glad you've landed in a good spot to stay warm and safe. Will be interesting to see how this works out!❤

    • @MM-bx7nj
      @MM-bx7nj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a lot of disinformation regarding electricity produced by fossil fuels when it relates to EVs. Due to the efficiency of power plants operating from dirty fuels, it is still better than running a gas vehicle for emissions. Also, these old style of plants are rapidly being replaced by lower emission power plants (ie, solar, wind) due to the lower costs. A newer study by the universities of Exeter and Cambridge in the UK and Nijmegen in the Netherlands has concluded that electric cars lead to lower carbon emissions overall, even if electricity generation still relies on fossil fuels.

    • @moremoney2
      @moremoney2 ปีที่แล้ว

      MM-bx7nj; before becoming an expert on electrical production, first understand that there is no such thing as fossil fuels. It was a made up term in the late 1800’s to create a demand for oil. Just like the phrase “conspiracy theory”. It was a made up term by the CIA to create confusion after JFK was assassinated. I challenge you to research fossil fuel and find out the truth. Oil, next to water is the most plentiful liquid on earth. I am old enough to remember scare terms like “global cooling”, then it became “global warming” and the rising seas. Now the more generic “climate change” is used. All in the name of “science” and they all have proven wrong. It’s all about control.

    My vote is for an EV van. We have a Ford eTransit (EV), and LOVE it! Don't let people with no EV experience scare you. Probably the best thing you can do for your maintenance, and operating expenses (ie. gas vs electric cost). Plus, Mother Earth will love you!

      Hey Get Lost Explorer! Thanks so much for sharing your vote for an EV van. That's awesome that you have a Ford eTransit and that you're loving it! I totally agree with you about not letting people without EV experience scare you. It's amazing how much money you can save on maintenance and operating expenses by going electric. And of course, we can't forget about Mother Earth - she'll definitely appreciate your choice too! 💜🚐🌍

    • @CM-zl2jw
      @CM-zl2jw ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s hypocritical nonsense to say that an ev is better for Mother earth. The mining and pollution from battery disposal is just as bad as drilling for oil. Plus, it takes a tonnage of oil and gas to build an ev. It’s just smoke and mirrors. I’m not against them. I might get one someday for other reasons when it makes sense but never to virtue signal or perpetuate a lie. Make sense. Let’s just be honest.

    • @getlostexplorer8911
      @getlostexplorer8911 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CM-zl2jw Study after study have shown that the life cycle of an EV vs an ICE is substantially better for global greenhouse emissions (which includes the mining of minerals for the battery). At the end of the life of a EV battery, the components can be recycled at a rate of over 95% currently (Redwood Materials, LiCycle, Etc.). Last time I checked, gas/diesel can't be recycled after their use. What I do find it hypocritical is people who say they care for the environment want to hold on to some romantic notion that driving their Toyota Prius (that still burns gas), use natural gas to cook/heat their home, and support animal agriculture by not eating plant based. Your comments point to all the debunked myths that have been put out there by the oil gas industry so they can keep selling you products that pollute the earth (and make record profits by the way).

      @CM-zl2jw ปีที่แล้ว

      @@getlostexplorer8911 there should be a law that electric vehicles can only be charged by wind or solar power. If you’re giving up fossil fuel, then give it up.

      @getlostexplorer8911 ปีที่แล้ว

      Being the driver of EVs for over 6 years (including the Ford eTransit EV for the past year), let me tell you fear is not justified. Just take some time to understand how charging works and plan accordingly.

    Is it cheaper to fly back home or drive your van home?

    • @the.vandersons
      @the.vandersons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Technically the only options are shipping or shipping to get the van back, since between Colombia and Panama there's no road and we had to ship across that portion before, which was about $1800 instead of about $3000 (hopefully) this time. Of course, the gas to get from Uruguay to Colombia adds up, but with the gremlins in our engine un-diagnosed it could end up being much more costly. It ultimately depends on what you're looking for in terms of experience and budget. Have you ever done a long road trip before? Let me know! 💜🚐🐕‍🦺🐈‍⬛

    Portugues brasileiro diferente dos de Portugal, Angola, Moçambique, Timor Leste etc.. É bem intelegivel com espanhol mas o espanhol não é.
    Normalmente falar pausado o brasileiro vai entender 90% do espanhol mas ao contrário não é verdade, pode entender 50% ou menos se nunca existiu contato.
    Países como Japão, Brasil, Tailândia, india, russia não precisam realmente do inglês para viver e isso não facilia viagens.

    • @the.vandersons
      @the.vandersons  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oi Walter! _Verdade_, as diferenças entre o português de diferentes países são super interessantes. E é curioso o que você mencionou sobre a compreensão entre português e espanhol; eu *realmente* percebi isso enquanto viajava. A questão da língua e como isso afeta as viagens é uma grande reflexão. Cada lugar com sua própria essência linguística, né?💜 Danny, Graham, Sombrita, e eu aprendemos um bocado adaptando nosso portuñol por aqui! 🙃 E mesmo com as barreiras do idioma, sempre há maneiras de se comunicar e se conectar com novos amigos. Você já teve alguma experiência parecida em suas viagens?

    • @walterdearrudafortesjuni-wp5oh
      @walterdearrudafortesjuni-wp5oh 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@the.vandersons aprendendo português brasileiro por incrível que Pareça é diferente de Portugal alguns sotaquês deles não dá pra entender, algumas palavras ou pronuncias são diferentes e pode gerar uma vergonha de cunho mais sexual ou xingamento em gíria, Angola, Moçambique, cabo verde, santomé e Príncipe, é bem tranquilo, já Timor Leste na guerra foram obrigados a mudar o idioma, o ensino mas eles aprendem e entendem, as vezes falam português.
      O espanhol, preciso aprender falar, confunde muito, vira portunhol, não sai muito, mas com 2 dias entendia tudo, escrever não é difícil.
      Nos países vizinhos tem diferença de nome de objetos, alguns eu nunca escutei e fico perdido.
      Suriname ou a ex Guiana holandesa, falam uma variação holandesa e Crioulo, falam outras línguas mas uma parte fala português, principalmente que trabalham ou casados com brasileiros, morando lá, tem muitos.
      É um país mais asiático, língua germânica, mão inglesa, chinês, indianos, indonésios, africanos com nativos.
      Só de avião não tem estrada por causa da floresta, nem ponte com outras Guiana só balsa.
      As 3 guianas eram muito voltadas ao Caribe mas com a França criando ligação com Brasil e comércio, as 2 outras querem também acesso e agora fazem muito movimento comercial e estão criando essa estrada de acesso.
      Pretendo ir para Tailândia mas o idioma tentei estudar e a linhagem tem tons, cada tom muda uma palavra, eu não consigo entender a diferença, precisava de um professor mas é difícil, até tem muitos que sabem português mas fazem outras coisas.
      Tem muitos que estudam aqui ou em Portugal porque no Reino e Império tinham acordos com Inglaterra, Japão e Tailândia e continua até hoje, acho que devem ser os acordos mais longos de países.
