Hey there! Yeah, it's a tough time with inflation impacting so many places around the world. Still, it pales in comparison to Argentina's _official_ 100% inflation last year, and over our time we saw over a 300% rise in the unofficial rate 🤯🫣. So tough for the world cup champions over there, and I hope the situation improves soon. However it's very cheap to travel there.

When I first started watching all the different channels a couple years ago that were based on van life, I wanted to sell out and do the same, but circumstances did not allow me to do so. But I'm sure after a couple years I would have been screaming for a place to land and have a regular life again. because they can't really tax the people to cover government costs, Latin America governments tax imports at least 100%. All the import parts become triple and quadruple the price. Shipping costs to where you are, government taxes, port agent costs, retail mark-up another 100%. I hate to be right, but I think you should have sold your van, recovered some money and save on shipping

We would only be able to sell it to another foreigner and it would still be in our name, they would just receive the power of attorney over the vehicle. I never did it, but dealing with the paper work of importing the van so you can then re-sell to another owner must be daunting in Latin America. It's a thought for the future: coordinating with a buyer in Tierra del Fuego with someone starting their trip to Alaska. Saves lots on shipping and paper work. @@the.vandersons

I bet you are ready for a break from van life! When I first started watching all the different channels a couple years ago that were based on van life, I wanted to sell out and do the same, but circumstances did not allow me to do so. But I'm sure after a couple years I would have been screaming for a place to land and have a regular life again. I will be praying for reliable container buddy and for things to work out in a safe and cost effective way🙏

because they can't really tax the people to cover government costs, Latin America governments tax imports at least 100%. All the import parts become triple and quadruple the price. Shipping costs to where you are, government taxes, port agent costs, retail mark-up another 100%. I hate to be right, but I think you should have sold your van, recovered some money and save on shipping
Hey Mario! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. However, selling our van wouldn't have been the best option for us. We would only be able to sell it to another foreigner and it would still be in our name, they would just receive the power of attorney over the vehicle. I never did it, but dealing with the paper work of importing the van so you can then re-sell to another owner must be daunting in Latin America. It's a thought for the future: coordinating with a buyer in
Tierra del Fuego with someone starting their trip to Alaska. Saves lots on shipping and paper work.
