That crank pulley bolt should have been torqued to 330-340 ftlbs, Im curious if the engine builder did that considering an electric impact took it off. You should leak down the motor, check the head gasket. If you had enough pressure build up from an over heat to blow a freeze plug, probably took the head gasket with it.
Truly hope you feel better man. As someone who grew up liking JDM but has mostly moved on to German modern platforms, it would be super cool to see you in a cool Euro sports car. F80/F82, 981 S, A90, or even an older 911 are all very capable platforms on the touge (as you probably know) and well received by Japanese enthusiasts as well
hey tsuchi, sending all the love i can in these annoying moments with cars, at the end of the day the problems with the r32 will come to an end because fixing a car is just time and effort, go at your pace don't get too much tired out of it and better times will come
Do a compression/leak down test before you tear it apart again. It's looking like a head gasket man. Compression in the cooling system will blow out the freeze plugs.
@evolad2463 1) The expansion tank is the least pressurized part of the cooling system. 2) Higher pressure will blow freeze plugs/seals, etc, before even getting near the tank.
@@excalibur2038 Brz's are great handling cars and have a surprising amount of power with the 2022 and newer models because of the bigger engine. as an owner of a 2022 brz i can say its a perfect touge car

I have this same feeling with my SN95 sometimes. I’ve learned the same thing as you did about new cars just being so much more reliable. Honestly, if you want something nice, I would check out Toyotas lineup. The new 86 and Corolla Hatch are cool af. Otherwise, the other newer cars I see on the touge most are WRXs, Civics, and a couple of Mustangs. I’ve heard great things about the 3.7L V6 and the Eco Boost Mustangs. Good luck dude!
I know how you feel man. My new to me 335i had been down for a month cause I had to send the ecu out to get fixed and it didn’t fix the short to ground issue that I have so I completely understand the problems. I actually finally got the car back up and running only with reduced engine power. You’ll make it through and it will be worth your while man.
going through the same exact thing with my boosted miata rn, just blew a whole through the block, been in the shop most of its life before but the times i got to take it out was nothing but a good time!
So sorry for your car knowing how much you like it. But I do think something newer would treat you better. On that note, gr86, type r, maybe a focus st or rs although the rs in my opinion is not that worth it. Take care and happy new year man
I just bought a 2020 bmw 330i last month and it’s great. It looks good, has decent power, all the tech I want, and has decent tuning potential. Got mine with 34k miles for under $30k. It’s a solid choice
I think Eric should get a 86 100% (nonbias cuz I own one) for a newer car somewhat cheap and the aftermarket on parts is endless yes it’s slow but it’s honestly so fun to drive on the canyons at a legal speed limit (allegedly)
Your frustrations are understandable bro. As much as I love the older japanese cars, theyre only getting older. Its a headache to constantly worry about parts breaking and wearing down. Managed to get a GR Supra MT. That car's awesome 👌Electronic handbrake though (if that matters to you). Also own a 2015 civic si coupe. Thing's still running strong. While not as fast, its still a blast on touge with the right suspension and tire setup.
get the newer Integra. got my integra a spec tech w/ 6 speed manual. super fun to drive. came from an RSX Type S 2006. handles really well, cool turbo noises (especially true if you get an aftermarket intake), cool burbles (even on stock exhaust - more consistent with after market exhausts), good torque. L15CA is obviously an econo engine, won't handle as much power unless you replace head studs, clutch, and maybe head gasket, so maybe the Type S for the K series? although, that's definitely a lot more expensive. im in Cali, got my Integra for 34k (same price as the base model, dealer wanted 40k).
Exactly why I got my 2021 miata with a 150k mile warranty. My rsx type s constantly has issues, even my fbo 19 5.0 has taken a shit. I just want a fun car to drive that has warranty if some shit happens to break while i fix my other cars
Man, pretty sure you warped the head. I had similar thing on a jaguar ftype. Coolant pipe cracked and pulled over and shut the car down but it smoked like crazy. Ended up pulling the head and replacing head gasket and decking it. On a side note, eventually youll have a reliable car if you keep at it! I had a bastard porsche that took about 3 rebuilds to get reliable and now its bulletproof
The shroud has a lower piece that detaches so you can put the clutch fan from the bottom. And don’t over tighten the timing belt or it would start churping. Basically you loosen the tensioner so it tensions the belt on its own, rotate the crank twice then tighten the tensioner bolt without letting it move. Also, there are timing marks on the cam gear backplate. Align the dots on the cam gears with the dimples on the backplate. The crank gear also has a dot, so align that with divot on the oil pump. The timing belt also has marks and just make sure they align with every mark I just mentioned. An OEM water pump is only about $100. That’s more than enough. You’re not pushing 1000hp.
Ay Tshuchi, I bought a '94 RHD Subaru to learn how to drive stick but every time i take it out I kill it over and over again, do you have tips for noobies like me trying to learn
I’m surprised Tsuchi hasn’t picked up some type of Lexus, or imported any Toyota four door. I know California has an abundance of them, just the JDM tax on them kills it
ay Tshuchi I just bought a '94 Subaru RHD to learn stick because of you but I my dumb ass keeps getting in my head and I cant drive it, you have any pointers for learning stick
would you go american? I would consider newer camaros. Actually a good track car for a muscle car, go for the NA LT1 and 6 speed. Good linear power and a good all rounder.
