First time running across your channel. I really like your attitude and approach to restoring cars. You aren’t an arrogant know it all which I really appreciate. Keep up the good work.
All that hard work is gonna pay off soon brother. Keep grinding and pumping out those videos and it’ll blow up. I found this channel last week and I’ve already watched 90% of your vids
This is hands down my favorite youtube channel lately !!! I stumbled upon it while studying for an operators license in a different state and I guess because of the diesel/ cummins content it was recommended 🤷♂️ I'm glad it was though !!!
Basically the automotive parts suppliers throw whatever they can find in a box and ship it. 50/50 it kinda of works and they often never hear from the customer. They win. Most of the OEM is better, but often not available at any price. It may be time to start hoarding parts cars ! Really good video showing how to do a little work and save a ton of money. I’ve been talking to one of my sons about stuff car owners should know about. with some effort many people can do the things you’re demonstrating. This was another good video, Happy Newyear!
Just came across your video on the vette. Good stuff. Like your style , sense of humor, and above all else, tenacity! Kind of surprised you didn't put it on a lift BEFORE you bought it. All that lower front end damage would have been a deal breaker for me, never-mind all that fucked up wiring. You've got balls. Hope you got it "dirt cheap". Oh, also liked your comment about being single so you can spend all your money on "projects " like this. I can relate. I've been been rescueing beaters, fixing them (with in reason) and flipping them for most of my life (I'm 75). Good luck.
as an O'Reilly employee, yeah, we have a 'limit' of three warranty replacements, but I ALWAYS replace parts that came defective. as far as how we can tell if its been installed, I i dont care if the plugs have wear- if you took care checking it, I'll resell it. but if it was clearly manhandled, we'll generally deny a replacement or refund. as long as you're friendly and the guy behind the counter (or the manager) isn't a douche, you'll be taken care of.
With the scan tool , you can take the guesswork out of repairs. You can look at all data the pvm can see. My wife just got me one after 2 years of chasing ghosts in my corvette. Right away fixed abs ( stalled pump code), fixed evap (turned out to be tank pressure sensor ) and so on. Also tps relearn is "Manual Transmission Turn OFF the ignition. Restore the PCM battery feed. Turn OFF the A/C controls. Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels. Transmission in neutral. Start the engine. Allow the engine coolant temperature to reach 80°C (176°F) Turn ON the A/C controls. Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes. Turn OFF the A/C controls. Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes. Turn OFF the engine for 30 seconds.
a good scan tool yes but they are a lot. there might be cheap one out there that do it but i have not personally looked into it but the super exspensive snap on will tell you down to what wire is corrosion and how deep into the wire it goes
@shortcurcuit5779 yes but a medium grade is enough for most things. The scanner my wife got me already saved me it's price by allowing me to troubleshoot, and repair. Obviously it's not the cure for everything, but the machine can do a LOT more then I can understand. I can imagine a snap-on I would get lost in for days 😂. BTW I have autel scanner tool.
What up Colin I've been on a binge watching and rewatching your videos idk your just a likeable dude I think you should have way more subs you are just as good as the big channels I watch in your own way I hope you had a good Christmas be safe on new years
been binging these vids ever since i got recommended the replacing head gasket on the subie vid. amazing channel love it. have a Subaru myself and really want a c6 in the future. this fixes my itch of working on a bunch of car because i dont have too many friends to work on cars with let alone space. thanks alot for this content
this corvette was just hacked up and not taken care of, these cars are super affordable and reliable sports cars compared to bmws, mercedes and dodges, also tons of aftermarket support
Really good editing on this video bro everything was to the point and easy to follow. My new favorite mechanic content creator! Can’t wait to see burnouts in c6 🔥🔥💨💨
Oh man this video brought back memories of when I was tackling front end damage of my S2K I retrofitted AP1 ballast assembly into AP2 headlights and ended up buying replacement harnesses due to all of the broken clips 😂 just subbed, looking forward to this C6 being restored into a roadworthy beast!
just came across your channel keep it up ! you explain things very well and easy to understand. i dont own a vette but would love to own one some day so cool to watch
Hey boss just saw this video and loved the way you did everything. C6 is an ongoing next dream car. If your anywhere near Wilmington Ohio I’d love to help you out with a wrap to get her all matched up👊🏼
Keep making these videos on this car. I also have a 2005 c6 and its got similar problems.(not as bad as yours😅) I was gonna give up and sell it because i didnt know what to do to fix it. But after watching this and learning a bit from you. I wanna try and fix it again.
Hey Colin so the product year of the c6 corvette lines up with the product year of my grand prix and let me advise you to unhook the abs module completely, run a ground wire from the battery to the motor, transmission, computer, dash floor, every spot that a ground hits the body and to take the original grounds off and strip them back and see if they are black inside bc if they are they have sucked up water like a wick. my silver grand prix has many many of the same issues your experiencesing and its is probably ground related. id see if you have a solid ground to the pcm, ecu, bcm, dash. excetera. they used a very corse type wire obviously mixed with iron and copper alloy bc thats only reason it will turn black. your gonna have to dig deep into the wiring harnes and test every lead on all the connector bc throwing parts at it will not solve corrosion issues maby a new old stock never been on the car wiring harness will fix it but more then likely your gonna have hours of time to test every thing and dont let wires drag if there a wire going to the bcm crossing or shorting out it will give it dirty signals and no it will not pop a fuse at all. check the e break and see if and wires are being crushed by it see if there any wires being crushed any where and best of luck. chevy really did every one dirty when it cheaped out on the wire type they used on the early 2000s back in the 90s copper was copper and it corrosion was green not black
Hey man I almost bought that car. I msg the kid and the dad multiple times with no response. I remember it because of the limp mode and the fender. Hope you get it back in shape.
I bought my vette for dirt cheap and fixed it up as well. I dropped the whole power train and just fixed everything. I was lucky it was a one owner and the body was in perfect condition. I plan to make it into a time attack c6.
NO SHOT id ever buying a C anything from anyone under the age of 25…. Especially with damage and “DIY” work. You know this thing was absurd and fixed in Pennie’s to no end 😂
Get a couple throttle bodies from the salvage yards but a big thing with gm’s is they don’t like different electrical signals so a consideration would w/o to grab the pedal assembly with the throttle body you get if possible!
Hey good news brother, build a gravel parking lot with the lights and trash can bro. Keep the cars “undisclosed for insurance purposes” and keep the fab a thing!!
FYI, the diffs on '05 vettes are basically made out of kiln-fired clay. VERY fragile. Look into when they were upgraded and what parts are required to swap out when changing the '05 diff. I don't think it's just the diff that has to go. Edit to add: I can't believe your HUD mirror hasn't collapsed yet, especially with all that southwest heat and sun.
my dad had multiple corvette's , we went to many corvette meetings . kinda rare here in belgium(europe) . always been a fan of V8 rumble but not a fan of filling the tank lol
Couple of quick tips. Dormam and electrical should be e4 be in same sentence. They suck bad. Other tip is there is a compensation reset or idle learn function that needs performed in scan tool
Any updates on his 3000 mile trip. Its obvious your not a super knowledgeable car enthusiast but its cool to see someone getting into it. Seem like a genuinely cool person so best of luck.
How to Perform the Relearn Procedure: Start the engine and let it idle in park for 3 minutes. The idle speed may be high or erratic initially as the ECM starts to learn. Turn the ignition off for 60 seconds. Start the engine and let it idle in park for another 3 minutes. The idle speed should become more stable and normal. Drive the vehicle at speeds above 44 mph with several deceleration and extended idles. This helps the ECM learn the throttle response. After the drive cycle, check if the engine is idling correctly. If the engine is not idling correctly, turn the ignition off for 60 seconds and repeat the procedure.
The windows have to "program". If you turn on the key, roll them all the way up, and then hold up for 3 seconds, it'll record the current limit and will set the "top" position. Repeat for the down position, and they should then roll down when you open the doors. I have to do it on mine when I kill the battery or have to remove it to work on things.
If you still haven't found the throttle body or limp mode problem. I advise you to change the 8 ignition coils, spark plugs and wiring. Clear the codes and test the vehicle, possibly that is your initial problem which cuts off the engine power.
Ground issue somewhere, at pcm or gage cluster. U ever unhook the battery and zip-tie the positive and negative together? Let it sit overnight, drains all capacitors. It duz work sometimes, whoever been working on it before u needs to stop.
I got a brand new radiator support kit, and a fan in better condition than yours hmu before you buy one!
Thanks Trevor :). Everyone go subscribe to this man’s channel for me plz

Who needs the parts store when you got a papa joey?
Get a couple throttle bodies from the salvage yards but a big thing with gm’s is they don’t like different electrical signals so a consideration would w/o to grab the pedal assembly with the throttle body you get if possible!
get a oem unit from the junk and throw it in the ultrasonic

If that tire blows and there is an accident the tire repair company and their liability carrier will have a ring side seat in court.
I'm going to need some video footage of that 3000-mile trip in that car😮
