"Dradula" is the fictional character created by Stroker. Romanians become very offended when fiction and reality is intermingled. Im not - I understand this is what brings in tourists. Vlad the the Impaller was the name of the ruler who Stroker based his character off of. The Country, people, food, regions, the Castles, are amazing no matter what time of season. Im Romanian and grew up in Queens NY from the age of 4. Now I live in CT. I haven't been back is quite a while due to a health issue. Anyone that sees this episode please go, visit, see Romania 🇷🇴. You will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you GMA for this. Maybe we can do a food tour. ❤
Thanks for clarifying this. It is annoying to (some) Romanians, me included, because it's just a made-up story people profit from (the tourism people selling Bran Castle as a haunted, evil place), when in fact it is nothing like it. It deserves to be promoted for its beauty and history, not as "Dracula''s Castle". And it saddens me the people who manage it gave in to this nonsense and they sell it cheap for Halloween party. It's all become about making money and cheap entertainment.

And keep coming back. Because there is so much to see, experience, and explore. The food, culture, people, castle, beaches, mountains, churches, museums, city centers, etc. Romania needs to be on people's travel itinerary. ❤❤❤
I agree Romania needs more promotion, but it has to be for the real stuff, not just Dracula. Or at least, Dracula spooky stories should be secondary. People don't visit England just for the Jack the Ripper stories. They go for culture, history, beauty and so on. And yes, some crime enthusiasts also go for Jack the Ripper, but people don't hear about England just because of him. That's what I mean.
Actually His nick name given by peasants was DRACUL meaning “the devil” (his father had this nick also) because they have been awarded with “the order of the dragon” a distinction from a Christian military order in those times. People didn’t know about dragons. In Romanian we have another word for them and as a Synonym “drac” - the devil - Dracul. His cruelty has some history attached hence is not everything made up. He passed by that castle. If you want to see his birth place dig some more. You’ll see that house has the actual sign of the dragon on it. Edit: that is another town

We do have a spike in cases, but travel is not banned. But don't worry, you won't find any vampires at the castle. It's just a historic place that became internationally known because of the novel and the vampire movies. And because travel agents and marketers use people's curiosity for their own gain. ;)
